We use to skate are a** off to this song it sound so good loud on the roller rink speakers. Another song we jammed to by Ozone was Strut my thang. In 2019 they released a single called Gonna miss my love.
That bassline is tuff.

Classic funk jam from the 80s. Song had everything, powerful bass line, smooth rhythm guitar, nice horns, serious harmony and of course the legend Teena Marie.

This is a bad ass funk jam that I can play over & over and still groove to it.
Gigolo is male escort (See American Gigolo starring Richard Gere) or just a guy that is flashy smooth and gets around. Gigolette is the female equivalent. When Teena comes in at the end was always the best part to sing to (or talk to really). No deep meaning to this jam - it just jams 🙂
Peace bro,during the 80's I spent time running around in LA a little so I would check out " Venice Beach " and this roller rink in the San Fernado Valle this was the funk jam for sure skaters at the beach use to roll hard on this.

OMG, I swear this generation overthinks too much: "Gigolette" is just an urban term that was not to be taken seriously!! It most definitely was not the sexual free person that he describes from Websters Dictionary or whatever & it's really a trip when the youth look to Websters to define our urban lingo (instead of asking older Black folks from that period!) because that's just what Gigolette is. Just like we used the term "Gigolo" for males it's not the Websters definition it's more defined as a fly playboy that's just out on the scene & a Gigolette is the female version. A good looking person that wears fly clothes & is fun to be with we can give Richard Gere that much but that's all! If that's not enough & the real deal of what it means is that "The Gigolo" was actually a song by O'Bryan and it was so popular that we did a dance called The Gigolo to it. It gets extra deep here because my sister (RIP) was a little older than me and had all the info on this, but there was also a dance called The Gigolette that pretty much went with The Gigolo and her and her friends could do it good. And of course they would all hit the floor and do it electric slide style when "Gigolette" came on. *As far as the song goes this song is so classic and never gets played enough & if Teena Marie has any floor burner songs before Square Biz they would be her debut song I'm Just A Sucker For Your Love and Gigolette. Actually Square Biz has the same beginning as Gigolette & when she raps she talks the talk of a real Gigolette eating filet mignon and reading books by Nicki Giovanni. A classy female who likes the finer things in life is a Gigolette!
