From 0:40 min on, you'll see the so-called "Kampftruppen" (fight troops), which were the armed forces of the workers - people, who worked in industry a.s.o., which met after hours to train for possible warfare scenarios. Many of them were reservists of the NVA, but not actively serving members. My grandfather (a former Wehrmacht staff sergeant) was member of the Kampftruppen his whole life - he just missed the comradeship and action of military life, I guess.

Bundeswehr is Americanized-German army.
And NVA was a Sovietized-German army!

I was talking about the suffering people went through during the war years, 1941-1945 in the case of the USSR. We cannot imagine what it would have been like with a war being fought in your country. It was hard in the USSR, very hard.
