- Aimee Semple McPherson lived in the early 20th century in the Los Angeles area. She is the founder of the Four Square Gospel Church. Sister Aimee had a retreat home in Lake Elsinore that has been renovated by the church. Tours were offered to the public in October of 2007. There was no way they were going to keep me out of that house!

i grew up in elsinore bit moved away in 93 at 14 years old. this place always freaked me out as a kid. its taken this long to see this place. i think about it every now and then. wierd memory from my childhood. ty for the video.
Didn't she have an more private small castle like home on Ryan Street ?

Just drove by this castle like an hour ago. Gorgeous place...Slightly eery and kind of scary though x__x. I can see it from where I live.
I visited the castle back in the 80's when Violet Sweet still owned it, I didn't get to go inside though. As for Aimee I think she was a con artist myself, but the castle is amazing. I wonder did she overdose in the home?

@Blo521 Actually, you are getting your stories a little mixed up. She did disappear while swimming at Venice beach in 1926. Here followers thought she had drowned. She showed up in Arizona after supposedly escaping from kidnappers in Mexico. Her shoes showed no signs of a 13 hour walk and the kidnap quarters could not be found. She was put on trial, but not convicted, for perjury. She didn't die until 1944. Aimee overdosed on sleeping pills but it is not known whether it was accidental.

I grew up in Elsinore Aimee's "Castle" was always a mysterious place.. What about the Army/ Navy Academy?
