- Lights puts her stamp on “How you Remind Me,” the lead single from Nickelback’s third studio album, Silver Side Up. “I’m always a sucker for taking a song everyone knows and flipping it into something totally different than its original form," Lights told CBC Music. "When higher energy songs like this are stripped back it really showcases how strong the lyrics and melody are and this one is no exception. There’s a reason everyone knows this song.”
Nickelback will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the 2023 Juno Awards - tune in live on Monday, March 13 at cbcmusic.ca/junos #JUNOS

As someone who has no care for Nickelback and as a big fan of Lights, this how to take song to a another great cover by Lights. Her signature reverb echo mix and pitched down tempo gives the song a pop texture,ambience and depth that the original never had. Not to insult anyone who does, but Nickelback has always been bland and try hard in my own opinion.
At what point does it become a completely different song but using the same lyrics? Just a mashup, not a cover.
