- For my first OPIc, I scored Intermediate High. Two months later with some prep and practice, I got the Advanced Low score I needed (and knew I was capable of!).
In this video, I talk about some tips and practice methods for those seeking that sometimes elusive Advanced Low score.
TWO things I FORGOT to mention in the video:
1) PRACTICE speaking with natives if you have access to them! I am fortunate to still be in touch with my college Spanish professors and friends from my semester abroad. They were PHENOMENAL resources to help me practice and boost my confidence...speaking of confidence
2) BE CONFIDENT! After my intermediate high score, my self-confidence took a major hit, but deep down, I KNEW I was capable of scoring an Advanced Low or even higher! Approach the exam with a SMILE and pep yourself up! I was literally chanting, "SÍ SE PUEDE" to myself minutes before my exam took place.
3) A week or so leading up to your test, immerse yourself in some Spanish audio and text. My resources were Radio Abulante and BBC Mundo.
Buena suerte! - Zábava
Great info. Best I've found so far!
Wonderful! Best of luck!
Super Helpful. Thank you!
Glad it helped! Best of luck with your assessment!
Very helpful - thank you!
Claro que si! Buena suerte con todo
Thank you so much for your tips. On my third try taking the OPI, I obtained an Advanced-Mid and went up two full levels from Intermediate-High. Your tips helped me gear my studying, although I personally felt better with the OPI and not OPIC. I even decided to do my own video with my experience on the OPI and OPIC.
Thanks for your feedback! Yes, I feel like I could have potentially scored higher through the OPI but opted for the OPIc for the sake of cheaper cost. One of my former university professors is a licensed OPI interviewer and helped me practice/study. He felt completely confident that I could reach that Adv Low-Adv Mid range. It's helpful to confidence to hear those things! Best of luck and I will be on the look out for your video!
Thanks for this video, I appreciate your feedback and detailed experience of what you dealt with during your test. This video game a few more tips on the OPI test.
Great to hear! I'm glad it could help! Be sure to pass it along to anyone else taking the OPI or OPIc. Best of luck!
did you take the WPT?
How long does it take to get our results?):
Sorry for late reply! It is usually a pretty quick turnaround, a couple days if I recall? I hope you got the results you were hoping for!
Hi.. Hope you see this sir. If a rater/ interviewer give me a chance to ask him 3 questions.. What are the best questions to ask?.. Thanks for answering in advance.
Sorry for the late reply. There are no questions that you ask on the OPIc since it is an automated dialogue. If you are taking the regular OPI, it is definitely more of a back and forth conversation, but the interviewer still does more of the questioning.
Thanks.. Sir. God bless. ^^
Hola hombre, gracias por el video y todos los detalles, ayuda mucho. Anyway, I'm an Arab native and I'm willing to take OPI or OPIc for Arabic (fusha, universal Arabic not dialects),
what do you think could be best for me OPI or OPIc? I'm pretty much comfortable with Arabic fusha, eventhough I didn't practice it since school, but I do read Arabic books everyday and listen to TV, so it's very familiar. I want to take the test because I want to teach Arabic as a 2nd language for non native speakers. Gracias por tu ayuda, y mucha suerte.
