- In this video I make some tooling for my hossfeld #2 bender out of RailRoad track (press brake die ?). There's some Machining, Some Heat treating, and some bending. What more do you want?
These are Only things from amazon that I personally like and buy for my own shop.
Flex Zilla retractable extention cord reel----- amzn.to/3ew4dce ----- Awesome tool to have I have 2. Theyre good quality but expensive (worth it in my opinon)
40-Pc wire wheel brushes for drill or die grinder----- amzn.to/3bajcX6 ----- Good selection of various wire wheels and theyre cheap.
LocTite 603----- amzn.to/3tuT8wn ----- I mean its loctite not much to say works great
Metabo flat head grinder----- amzn.to/3tzRadX ----- Metabo flat head grinder best of the best German made angle grinder for getting in tight spots ( I know the price sucks)
Dykem layout fluid 2 pack------- amzn.to/3etNXbK ----- blue layout fluid 2 pack (its alittle cheaper than buying 1)
Markal Pro holder starter kit----- amzn.to/3hcago7 ----- This is the silver streak pencil you always see on my channel for laying out steel I love it (expensive but all the good stuff is)
Starrett automatic center punch----- amzn.to/3y74YAq ------ Awesome starrett auto center punch that you see in my vids love it best there is
Scotch brite deburring wheel----- amzn.to/33r8Td3 ----- this is the bench grinder wheel that I love puts almost mirror finish on steel and deburrs also lasts a long time ( make sure you get the right arbor size)
Precision twist drill index----- amzn.to/3ergxum ------this is the 115 piece drill index you see on my channel all the time......they have been great for me and they arent chinese
Walter flap discs----- amzn.to/3hatCd8 -----these are the flap discs you see on all my grinders. they are the best there are german made and trimable for longer use the only kind i use ( but very expensive)
Noga mister------ amzn.to/3h86P1L ----- This the little noga mister that I use on my mill it works well for the bridgeport
BXA tool post ------ amzn.to/2T0rBGw ------ this is the quick change toolpost and tool holders set (size BXA) that i bought for my lathe its chinese but good quality I have been very happy with it
Racheting tap handle -------- amzn.to/3wSJRAm ------ this is the racheting tap handle you see me use all the time, I bought mine at harbor frieght originally but theyre chinese made and are identical probbably made in the same factory

I came for the machining, stayed for the music. Great looking video as well. Thanks
Hey just built a bulldozer die myself. I watched this video must have been a dozen times by now. The only thing I was lacking was a milling machine. Just got one for a song and a dance, and man it's opened so many doors, I got so much to learn on it. Thanks for the sweet videos.
I tell ya man, there's nothing like machining to a little light jazz. My workshop envy is palpable.
One of my favorite parts of your videos is the progression of sweet tools you have acquired. I also have that “problem” and it drives my wife crazy.
My latest is a 1986 cnc Bridgeport that i retrofit with a new control system
Id love to build a cnc router still been doing alot of reading not sure if im quite there yet but maybe a future video
Awesome filming, editing and machining. Criminal that you don't have 10x as many subscribers. Looking forward to seeing more about the hossfeld bender. That oven looks sweet too.
He will soon have.
Fantastic content, a real pleasure to watch. Thank you
Very professional 👏 👌 👍
At least someone comes with something new on the CZcams forum. From Bolivia 🇧🇴 I pay my respects to this channel.
One of the best channels out there. Thanks for the high quality ride along. Can’t wait to see what’s next. 👍👍😊👍👍
Thanks man I appreciate the comments it helps me out
I just want to compliment you on your camera work. The variety of camera angles, close-ups and the shear number of shots and edits are impressive. Makes your videos interesting to watch. Keep up the good work.
Your Channel is awesome. I love the way you give information, facts and opinions.
Wicked editing on the video. Mesmerising and brilliant to watch
Nice.
Love metal fabrication and machining so great to have found the channel.
Thanks for taking the time to film and share. I learn a lot from your videos. You have a very nice setup in your shop and back it up with veteran knowledge. I like the why's and the how's. I like the straight forward approach and some hints of humor. Keep'em coming.
Thanks Clint I will.
I have found RR Track has basically unlimited uses in and around a Shop, and here you’ve taught me that it’s great for making Dies also. Awesome Video
The craftsmanship is top notch. And you have the best sound tracks! I kept having to back up, because I fuzzed out listening to the music. 😎
Great content as always, bought a step pulley bridgeport a couple months ago, love watching the different kinds of tooling in action
Thanks......get yourself a 3/4" indexable endmill from shars with apkt inserts I find I reach for it the most. its great for bringing parts to size and if your learning burning up inserts is better than expensive endmills.
Loved the intro. A sense off humor that I like. And the rest is just great to watch because off the great content and editing. Keep up the good work!
That's was just awesome!! Nice video editing, great content, thank you very much!!!

Great job! It looks and works brilliantly
Thanks Tom. Kinda nice machining somthing that the dimensions don't matter a whole lot.
Nice tour of a million $$ shop and a highley skilled machinist with some metallurgy experience, who has a good video editor and music selection.
Haha thanks.....I wish it was a million I do alot of craigslist shopping
Wow! I am really delighted that I found your channel! Like so many others here I watch a large number of machining channels, but missed yours until now. You really offered something for everyone here and your video/editing is excellent. Thanks very much for the effort you put into sharing your work and expertise. I hope your channel grows quickly. Loved the intro!
Thank you Bruce I really appreciate the comment
Great video. I liked the shout out to Randy Richards. He's one hell of a nice guy.

Great tool.
I’m really liking this channel. Great job with your projects and great editing 🤙🏼
Thanks man
You're a heck of a tool maker!
Thanks but I'm just a welder that uses machines to make me a better at what I do.
Professional build👍👍👍
Intro Maximus 🤣.
I discovered your channel not long ago and it's a treat to see your videos. Metallurgical knowledge + know-how = true craftsman 👏👏👏. belgium fan
Great work, great video, enough said.
👍🇭🇲
Love your projects. Good b roll also
Thanks man
First video of yours I seen.... and I don’t know why! I subscribe to dozens of channels like this, have for years. Never have I seen this channel pop up. No excessive yakkin, getting things done, well equipped. Subscribed and hit the bell.
True, I did the same ! Sad, I did'nt find this Channel earlier .
Same for me. I'm subbed now too.
......subscribed and also hit the Bell several times...but did not hear Ring !!! Lol !
First video of yours I've seen. Dig your work man! Subbed
Outstanding intro. Amazing machine work and filming skills. Subscribed and looking forward to watching your channel grow. 👍
Awesome Video!! Die turned out great ,well done sir!
Seeing the finish on that track section half way through is just... fffwwwaaaaa... *subscribes*
You’re not kidding. It’s impressive how he’s just 💩-ing on all the nay sayers.
really nice job. works great. love the scribe.
Thanks Randy! I dig the knocker too
@@westweld Nice, I love the knocker also.
I think I've just found another metalworking channel I'll enjoy. Subbed.
Thanks man glad you liked it
Pretty cool 👍
Finally, a YT guy that knows enough about heat treating to teach his followers. A common file can get you by, a set of hardness testing files is better, but a Rockwell tester is best. And,,, paying the price and floor space tells us West Weld is committed to quality. I haven't looked, but I bet used Rockwell testers are cheap and plentiful. Get one!
Nice work 😉😀
A partir de ahora voy a apreciar más el hierro que el oro. Enhorabuena por los vídeos.
Brilliant!
I don’t know how I haven’t seen your channel but thank god it found me, your videos are excellent, I absolutely love the quality of work, choice of music and the editing is great, you definitely got another subscriber and full time follower, your gonna blow up on here man, thank you for the effort in making this one of the best machining channels I’ve seen!! Keep it up bro....
Thanks man I appreciate that
Dude, I am a new subscriber to your channel and I must say I love your edits! :)
DUDE. Good shit. Subbed.
It was like watching a combination of “this old tony” and “abom79”..
Thanks those are a couple of my favorites
So this is like the woodworkers equivalent of pallet wood? Man I wish I was a machinist too. Great videos dude!
Just found the channel, great work, machining and welding,
Wow...okay just find your channel and I'm blown away. You're machining.... filming and editing skill is fantastic!!!!!!
Thanks Erin I appreciate that
dude your vids are great thanks for sharing
Thanks man
Love this video❤️
Seriously Jonesing for a Bridgeport. 😁😎
Great job on the bending die.
Oh thanks so much for making my CZcams videos look like complete amateur rubbish. I thought the beginning of your video was an ad and then near shit myself laughing when you showed what you were doing and dropped the camera 😂. Like Charles Plowman below I have just picked up my first milling machine, a BP clone, and realise how much I have to learn. Videos like yours really help to show what and how things can be done and what a skilled operator can achieve. It’s so much better than anything you can get from reading books. Thanks so much.
Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺
Haha thanks man I appreciate that.....honestly it takes me a pretty ridiculously long time to make a video so im glad they don't suck
@@westweld seriously, your videos are on another level! More professional than amateur but I do feel better knowing they take a long time to make😂😂😂. They’re very good and entertaining. Cheers Stuart.
Nicely done! That die came out nice enough that it should sit on your desk so you can appreciate it even when you're not using it.
Thanks man.....Gotta make it shiny for the video
Very nice my friend
Just found your channel and subed, looks very informative, thanks for posting this material.
WOW! I just came across your channel today and I am totally blown away and impressed with the quality of your videos and your fab skills! I wrote you a message on your Facebook. Keep up the great work can't wait to see more videos!!
Nice opening
Great job
Nice music tracks. Thanks so much for a relaxing background.
On the contrary, I found the music annoying and distracting, so much so that I stopped watching the vid.
I'm your number one fan. Good job. Greetings from Honduras
Thanks man!
Wow.. impressive build and great camera work and editing.
Thanks!
So cool
First time visiting your channel. Very enjoyable!
Thanks man
That intro completely sold me on your channel
And I find it interesting that you're using rail for something other than an anvil, keeps things interesting
Haha thanks man.....its decent material considering you can get it pretty cheap if you need somthing harder than 1018
Excellent job bro , and a beautiful piece of good quality steel 😁😁🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thanks man
Nice. Amazing what a couple million in machinery and tools can do. If my shop was that clean and organized, well, it wouldn't be for long. Great skills and knowledge.
Thanks man.....I wish it was a couple million worth......you can get the machine tools for pretty cheap at auctions like a few hundred dollars cheap but usually have to travel a little
@@westweld Just because you bought em cheap, doesn't mean they aren't worth more. I have no less than a quarter million in my business equipment, with depreciation, way lower. But.... to replace stuff, if I have to get right back to work, it's usually new, or close to new. One big item would put a hurting on the finances, everything has gone up so much.
@@treeguyable I watched a little bit of you tree falling pretty cool stuff
@@westweld At 64 yrs old, it just goes a bit slower!
@@treeguyable tom petty said "you never slow down you never grow old" although he did only make it to 67 so not sure we should take advise from him
It's been a minute WW. You are Still Amazing!!!
Pre CWR, rail is homogeneous and it’s the type you want for machining.
Continuous Welded Rail has a much, much tougher ball (Top) with more carbon, molybdenum and vanadium in it. The web and foot is more akin to mild steel to be a bit more forgiving under load and wild temperature fluctuations. Remember, these are 7 to 15 mile long pieces of continuous rail and both side are never the same length.
Why do I know this? I’ve been running trains on it for 20 years now.
Good to know thanks man....im glad I used the top for the bending part I think 45 rc should be ok for 1/4 stock
My kind of shop. Now retired and really missing it. Thanks eh !
Great video. You just earned yourself a new subscriber.
Thanks man im glad you liked it
Excellent content, just subbed-thank you very much ✅👍
Engraving machines, lathes, mills, hell, even drill presses can break the bank on accessories. Nice to keep 500 bucks in your jeans on that setup. Kudos on the worlds cleanest heat treat oven. ✌
That's awesome you do amazing work I'd like to have some of your skills and of course the tools. James
Love your videos!! I have a small shop but nothing as advanced as you. Id really appreciate a video and description of all your machines in your shop...keep up the great content !!!
Thanks!....I'm thinking about doing a shop tour sometime soon and ill go over some of the tools
The whole time you were machining that on the lathe I was thinking or looked like my old clausing. Thanks for the confirmation. Mine is totally clapped out unfortunately. :(
That sure is a fancy pants oven you got there!
You have aNew subscriber.
Great Video . I have a Hossfield bender also.
This is my Next project after the 100 other ones. Thanks for sharing.
I don’t know why I haven’t found your channel sooner...but better late than never...
I think youtube hides it haha....thanks for checking out my channel
What Sawbone said.
Genius ❤️
I tried to do this exact thing but they got all the track near my place nailed down. It's nailed down good, too. I even went to some fields like you showed and looked for some loose track, but no luck.
Nice build! If you have more ideas in this area, I'd love to see more videos themed around machining various railroad steels.
Doug
??? A video on building a belt grinder? Okay, but I didn't see anything related to railroad steel.
Your videos are awesome. I know my videos will be better if I apply what I learn from you in terms of videography. Nice work you keep this up your channel will explode I know it. You take mundane things and make them interesting. You are an OG creator who hasn’t sold out keep it up man. Love to do a project with you one day.
Just found your channel. Love the music, love the projects, REALLY love your shop! You've got it going on, man, I just subscribed.
