parents and coaches are the single worst thing about youth sports. People who are generally mis or ill informed about the actual rules of the sport, with huge emotional connections to the game.
I live in Scotland, so 2 things: I would love to have played on a pitch as good as that. It wasn't classed as a dirty tackle if you left the pitch on your feet.
He he, not much different in Chile. I played in a local league there with only 1 grass pitch while the rest were dirt. Every player and his dog turned up for that one match. It was our Wembley moment.

If you watch it in slow speed Dark Blue beats Light blue to the ball and contacts the ball with the outside of his right foot first. Dark blue played the ball. Yes, he did so without regard for the safety of light blue. But, that's not really Dark blue's problem. Kid played the ball. And trucked light blue. I could see a red card played but I also see why the yellow card was played. Dark Blue was technically in the right. Wasn't an "obvious red card".

I am a soccer coach for kids in USA and love it when the parents scream from the sidelines for everything. Fouls, offsides, handballs....when the fact is 75% of them don't even know the sport. Just like I would never dare call a foul in basketball or American football.
I get what youre sayin but at the same time you cant really assume they dont know anything lol most the time a kid has played a sport for a while the parents become knowledgeable to some degree and also, its their kid theyre gonna yell or screamed if they get tackled

However, I still think its a red because if you watch the player in dark blue you can see the exact moment he turned away from the ball and went for the player. Yes you are allowed to protect yourself by dropping your shoulder but the kid purposefully went for the player and not the ball. Pair that with the shoulder check to the head that means double yellow which means straight red.
Maybe i did not see something with the arms and shoulders, but the dark blue player had a right to go for that ball. The light blue player had not touched the ball; he got in the way of the dark blue player who actually touched the ball first. Maybe it was reckless of the dark blue player to be running so fast -- that is a tough interpretation of reckless play.
