It's my first time today to watch this movie n it really touch my heart when sam had to sail away in the canoe n than they found him dead the next morning. I had tears in my eyes cause of his girlfriend how sad it was for her she really loved sam so much n now! Very nice movie n thks to everyone that act in this movie. Nice love story from Samoa. Sam should just marry his fiance without his father. To killed himself was not really good decision. He left his fiance with broken heart..I really feel sorry for Sam but that is something many pacific islands culture always come in between two young people in love. May be church or cultural barrier of chiefs and commoners. This story brought tears to my eyes especially for the girl who decided to marry Sam in death. That is true love.
I'm originally from Papua New Guinea, and I met my stunning Samoan wife while studying in New Zealand in the 80s. Despite initial disapproval from her aunt, who took years to accept our relationship, she eventually came around as our children began to excel in school. Now, all our children have graduated from university and hold significant positions within the New Zealand government, with one even pursuing an academic career. My Samoan in-laws back in Samoa couldn't be prouder of them, consistently reminding my wife that marrying me was the right decision.

When I saw this movie in 2010 in Seattle at the time, it made me want to learn more about our beautiful culture because I was born and raised in the states (Army Brat). I am still learning about our culture to this day and have been living here for about 12 years and I can say that I absolutely love it here in American Samoa.

Im watching from a Polynesian Island in the Solomon Islands, Rennell Bellona province in the Southern part of Solomon Islands, Im in tears while watching this drama which displayed the reality in life, Im in tears, feeling the hearts of all families involved, if this happen in my family I will also felt the same feelings, the bride was the more painful heart, so come to our lessons to felt the heart of those who find thier love, help them to fulfill thier desire, becos, parents we also have the same meeting place..before we became parents, its a chain of life..❤❤
