    • @klavzerblut
      @klavzerblut Před 10 lety +22

      UbyTuesday You clearly don't know what you are talking about. Wilt was always better than Russell in their playoff series. Russell is considered a playoff God, yet Wilt was still better than him. Grow up.

    • @klavzerblut
      @klavzerblut Před 10 lety +11

      UbyTuesday Yeah, so? He was still better. Great coaches are hard to find. Wilt was tired and needed rest, and he was the only one who kicked ass in the game. Russell regularly missed practice, because he was bored with it and didn't like it at all. The only difference was that Auerbach gave a tired Russell a break, while Wilt was given shit and bitching. Wilt did exactly what coaches asked of him, even when he didn't like them. Now that is a professional.

    • @kristjanklavzer7821
      @kristjanklavzer7821 Před 10 lety +9

      UbyTuesday You are pathetic. Focusing on FTs. Well every human knows Wilt was bad at FTs. What about FGs, rebounds, assists, defence, keep ignoring these things.
      Wilt did what he was asked to do on the court. Wilt played like he was asked to. Of course he didn't agree with coaches on some occasions. Of course he didn't, because the coaches mostly werent ready for a player of his caliber (which was one of a kind). They didn't know how to use him. He brought so many weapons, yet his coaches and teams failed to use him.
      When you try and make Wilt seem to be doing worse than his team mates, you are destroying your credibility. FTs were the only category where Wilt was not the best and even there he made many points from the FT line. His teams also took many many FTs, usually way more than opponents, who were forced to make most points from the field (low %, especially the man Wilt was guarding). Wilt commited very few fouls and forced his man to shoot mostly from the field. He dramatically reduced FG% to every player he guarded and he reduced FG% of TEAMs FFS. He also won way more possessions with his insane number of rebounds than he lost with his misses. Do you even realise what the ability to won more possessions than you lose means? Add the ability to score many points and reduce opponents FG% and you got yourself the GOAT.

    • @klavzerblut
      @klavzerblut Před 10 lety +6

      UbyTuesday When you blame Wilt for 1969 game 7 INJURY, you show that there is no point in debating with you.
      You are sooo full of shit man. The fact is, that only his FTs were his weakness and he was at the very top of every other category.
      Do you really think Rodman would have 40 rebounds a game with balls bouncing all over the place? The fact is that Wilt outrebounded every center he ever faced, was by far the best rebounder of his time and led the league in rebounds per game for 11 fucking seasons. He was the best rebounder in the vast majority of games he played. And yes, rebounds are very fucking important. Wilt had 26% of available rebounds in his last fucking game. The fact that he set the rebounding record on Russell should tell you something. You are just a hater.

    Another thing people who weren't around when Wilt Chamberlain walked the earth are unaware of is that in addition to being the greatest athlete ever to live he also was a very intelligent, keenly knowledgeable, socially graceful and cultured man. It is said that Wilt also could converse in several different languages. He was the closest thing to a living demigod anybody will ever know. Ironically, some people hated him for that, and came up with all kinds of reasons not to acknowledge that...which was not only a travesty both for him and future sports fans who were thereby denied the spectacular pleasure of watching and appreciating Wilt do his work and the thrill that came with it.

    I completely agreed with Wilt here about Shaq back then. Looking at it now, Shaq certainly belongs in the top 50 players of all time, and even then I knew he would be. But, at that time in 97, watching Shaq being considered one of the top 50 players of all time, over guys like Bob McAdoo, and Dominique Wilkins, was premature.

Wilt was before my time, as well as McAdoo, but as a big fan of basketball, I've looked up a lot of the greats before my time to see what they brought to the game, and for anyone to put Wilt as the 6th greatest Center is ridiculous. The statement that the people he played against were college grads who played because they loved it because the money wasn't great. In those days the NBA finals, as far as NBC, CBS, and ABC were concerned, couldn't replace a rerun of the Beverly Hillbillies. It may have been a golden age of basketball as he describes it. Would love to have a time machine and see how his team that won 33 straight would fare against this years G.S. Warriors. I think they would have adjusted quickly and made a game of it.

    Today's players should take notes. If you want to be a lady's man, don't get married. And, don't get into a situation of non consentual sex. Although Wilt no doubt had many partners, he was very discrete. This act is very difficult to accomplish in our current quick media paced society.

    10:58 "so why is there a problem ?" (about sleeping with all these women). It's an amazing contradiction, when he begins this video blaming the trickle down effect of money. It's the same way here: if you're promiscuous a lot, you make society that bit more promiscuous. That would be the problem, Wilt.

    SHAQ gets away with murder
    George Muresan is more fundamentally sound than SHAQ
    Washington needs to give the basketball to George Muresan maybe Muresan would’ve had 20-30 points per game
    I don’t believe we should have had SHAQ in the 50th Anniversary Team & as one of the greatest players in NBA history

    Wilt could have played in the 80s and made some $ if he really wanted to. He was playing pick up games against the best players in the NBA, and beating them. So yeah, even in his 40s, he was better than the stars of that current NBA.

      he would choke as usual like he always did
      Wilt = choker only 2-4 in the Finals. His team was so stacked with Hall of Famers like Thurmond, Cunningham, Greer, Goodrich, Baylor, West and he still only won 2 rings
      1969 Finals - west dropped almost 40 a game without the 3pt line as well as 5 rebs + 7.5 apg and Wilt still couldn't win with all that help
      outscored by 20+ ppg against Kareem in 1972 WCF and also outscored by Kareem in 1971 WCF. MJ has never been outscored in a playoff series after his rookie year (which was only 0.2 ppg difference)
      Wilt = only 8-10 teams in the league majority of his career, one round to make NBA Finals and still cant win
      In five out of his six NBA Finals (1964, 1967, 1969, 1970, 1972, and 1973), Wilt only averaged 12, 12, 18, 19, and 23 points. The one time Wilt was a top scorer in the NBA Finals was in the very early portion of his career in 1964 when basketball was very underdeveloped with especially excessive shot jacking and scoring, and as expected he still ended up losing that NBA Finals.
      Wilt was never the leading scorer in an NBA Finals where he won, and only the leading scorer in one out of six NBA Finals appearances. Are you telling me someone who couldn't win with the ball in his hands is the greatest player of all time? As centers, Moses, Hakeem, Kareem, and Shaq are much more accomplished than Wilt. I don't recall Chamberlain ever putting up championship-winning performances like the aforementioned greats (1971, 1980, 1985, 1983, 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, and 2002 Finals).
      In only his second season, Kareem outplayed the experienced Chamberlain and eliminated him from the Playoffs. The next year, the Lakers did eliminate Kareem's Bucks on the way to Wilt's last championship, but Kareem averaged 34 pts a game in that series to Chamberlain's mere 11. Kareem was only in his third season, and he was already schooling a veteran and experienced Wilt.
      In his first 7 years, Wilt averaged between 33 and 50 pts per game each year. After those 7 years, Wilt was entering his 30s. Most NBA players' primes are in their late 20s and early 30s. However, in his next 7 years, Wilt only had between 13 and 27 pts each year. Only ONCE did Chamberlain get more than 24 ppg in that timespan. Wilt's rebounding numbers also steadily decreased. Wilt was falling behind his own weak era as it slowly developed with slightly more efficiency, less shot jacking, and less rebound opportunities.
      Wilt FAILED to show up in the playoffs repeatedly. How can he be anywhere close to the greatest if he fails to show up when it matters most? After his first 4 years, Wilt NEVER averaged 30 pts in one playoff year. Wilt averaged 37 or more pts FIVE times in the regular season, but only ONCE in the playoffs. He only averaged 22 and 15 pts in the playoffs when he won his only NBA championships - proving that he needs teammates to carry the scoring load for him.

What does that say for a lot of other great players? ' He' only beat the Celtics once...That's one more time than a lot of others did it. Jabbar? Great Player but how many rings did he win before Magic Johnson showed up?? In the few years they were in the league together,they both had 1 ring.....What does that say for Jabbar?? Wilt liked to minimize who Shaq was. Saying he'd take George Muresan over him was just 100% haterade.
    I also love how he said Shaq would foul out in his era (not true), because they wouldn't allow that kind of contact. The funny thing about that is most players from that era say it was a mans game then, unlike today where you get to the line for next to nothing.
    So which is it? Was it a mans game where they don't blow the whistle, or was it a finesse game that would have resulted in Shaq fouling out in the first quarter? You cannot argue for both.
    I think there is a reality about Shaq that Wilt didn't like, that being Shaq is the only guy in NBA history who would have physically overpowered Wilt. Don't give me the stuff about how much Wilt could bench, and how high he could jump, yes Wilt was a phenom, and unlike Bill Russell, he'd dominate in today's game... But, once Shaq and his 330 lbs of pure explosiveness was next to you, it was over. Am I saying Shaq is better than Wilt? Not necessarily, but I will say back in that era, Shaq may have been able to average 70 per game, especially when the lane was 1/2 as wide. Just camp out at the edge of the key, it was illegal defense then to put 2 guys on him until he had the ball. He'd just catch, turn, hammer all night long. I can say without question Shaq would have more titles than Wilt back in that era.

    • @jamesbowser5006
      @jamesbowser5006 Před 8 lety +5

      He maybe a little jealous of how Shaq was allowed to bump guys. Wilt was a gentle giant because he was not allowed to be rough and get away with what is done these days. Remember he played in the Era of segregation. He was a caring guy which was afraid he would hurt people if he was to rough. wilt expressed his view of finesse around the basket in his era. That view in the Shaq era changed to a power dunk and bump and move finesse around the paint.
