Hi everyone!
I was a big brother to a fatherless boy back in 1984. This was the first movie we saw together. Afterwards I took my wife to the movie. She didn't want to go because she thought it was a horror flick.đ I haven't seen it since then. I haven't seen him since 1987, when his mother took a job in another state. We wrote to each other a few times until he went off to college and my wife entered hospice care due to premenopausal breast cancer. Needless to say Ghostbusters holds a special place in my heart.
It's funny that Lewis keeps locking himself out of his apartment and he winds up as the Keymasterđ
It was the 80s. The smoking was stress relief. It increases throughout the movie
Fact: Paul "Pee Wee Herman" Reubens was going to play Gozer in the original draft.
The green ghost in the hotel is John Belushi's ghost (Dan Aykroyd's partner in Blues Brothers) since Dan Aykroyd had written the script to have John Belushi be one of the ghost busters but he died before they managed to make the film.. slimer being a big gluttonous blob was a sort of farewell joke to John Belushi
Murry and Ramis also star in the movie "Stripes" about joining the Army. It was filmed at Ft Knox, KY where I took Basic Training.
Huey Lewis sued Ray Parker Jr for plagiarism over the 'Ghostbusters' title song, claiming it was taken from Lewis' 'I Want A New Drug.' If you have listened to both songs, there is definitely a close connection. Close enough that Lewis won his lawsuit.
My favourite costume is Danaâs possessed gatekeeper Dress itâs so beautiful and seductive infact I own one and yes I did wear it with a wig the dress do posses people who wears it.
Filmation's The Ghost Busters debuted on CBS TV in September 1975. It was cancelled and forgotten. The 1984 blockbuster film Ghost Busters sparked a renewed interest it in 1986. Walk the Moon's cover of Parker's Ghost Busters is really good.
Lewis is played by Rick Moranis who is also in HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS and he played Dark Helmet in SPACE BALLS besides other movies. I forgot that he also starred in the comedy musical LITTLE SHOP OF HORROR.
The big irony is that the Keymaster keeps locking himself out of his own apartment. đ
Dan Aykroyd:
Ray is played by Dan Aykroyd a very famous Canadian. Also when he says "I'm sorry Venkman" towards the end of the movie you can really hear his accent.
Now, Ghostbusters 2.
Sigourney Weaver, who plays the beautiful Gatekeeper, was the star of Alien.
Old movie? Damn, I can remember watching this in the theater as a young teen. Good movie with a typical great 80s soundtrack.
The Ghostbusters building is an old New York firehouse & they all sleep in a big open room, the Ghostbusters just kept the open concept.

Glad you finally watched Ghostbusters! Officially 40 years old! The best scary moment is definitely dana getting possessed by Zuul. Great in building suspense and it still scares me everytime it gets to that moment!
