Congratulations! Jacklyn Jose for being best actress. All the cast including Julio Diaz who deserve to become a best actor are the best. Very realistic story, it happened everyday in the slum area of the Philippines. I hope Pres. Duterte will soon stop this crime and corruptions from top to bottom of our society. Brillante Mendoza is a genius director of our time. You deserve all the award and recognition. All the best.

In fairness with the cast and crew, I think they really tried their best to speak in Tagalog to be proud of being Filipinos even if they are so capable speaking in English & in fairness with the interpreter, I can really relate to her, living too long outside the Philippines & being an interpreter is not an easy job, regardless how smart or intelligent you are, it takes a lot of practice & even expert interpreters make mistakes , i know that this is not her profession & knowing her as a kind person she probably just did this to support the team on a last minute call. And besides, she’s one of the few Filipinos I know, who made it successfully running her beauty company in France & normally a good speaker. Anyway, to all of you CONGRATULATIONS!!! Being there on that conference table where famous celebrities were, means you’ve reached something extraordinary!!!

This just typical of a French attitude towards foreign film makers. The French introductor (or whatever he is called) clearly struggle to speak english so from the start he said the awardees will speak tagalog, it's good that Brillante started to speak in english. Jacklyn spoke in tagalog because she was just following protocol, Cannes need to ask foreign film makers of what language they prefer to speak and not just generalizing that all foreign film makers want to speak in their own language on an international settings.

  • @acarrotwithnosubscriber7755

*"No, actually way din kase yan to show how proud you are sa country na nirerepresent mo. Ang mali dyan is yung mga artists, (dahil hindi naman sila sanay gumamit ng interpreter 'cause they know how to speak english din naman) kaya nasosobrahan sila sa dami ng salita kaya nahihirapan yung interpreter na i translate lahat yung sinabi nila kaya it turns out na wala yung puso at yung main point ng explanation nila* 😊

There are some, okay most Filipinos find it hard to speak straight Tagalog. Sometimes we put a bit of English here and there because some Tagalog words are quiet long and the English translations are shorter. Also, like educate = edukate okay naman. I mean while typing, I don't even know ....okay pwede naman "nagbibigay ng edukasyon ang mga pelikula".

She was literally barging in without giving a signal. These people involved in the movie are more than capable enough in speaking english and expressing themselves without the help of a lousy interpreter ( as far as I know). Next time, better interpretter gives a better promotion. Learn from the experience people.
