So many people who grew up in the church are so convinced that they are saved but have no relationship with God. Being saved means to be born again. That brokenness and complete surrender is your BEGINNING. Don’t allow people to define what that beginning is for you but at the same time every Christian should KNOW what that beginning is. We cannot be held to a biblical standard of righteousness if we ourselves do not have a true revelation of God in our hearts. They Holy Spirit is who empowers us to live up to the standard of righteousness , not ourselves. And I believe God is just in His dealing with us based on where we stand with Him.
This isn’t a perfect Christian story. But it looks as messy as every biblical story. You both have accepted Gods grace and are moving forward. It’s clear that God had you both for each other but your own spiritual immaturity and sin blocked the blessing. I really pray the best for you both and your continued growth in the Christ.

I really have enjoyed this series. It she's a different light on you as a couple. It's raw and real, vulnerable and brave. Alena is very happy and boisterous and Joe seems so quiet, but watching them here, puts them in the same playing field and its beautiful. They are such a beautiful couple literally and figuratively.

God was directing you guys since high school but you veered of course. Gradually you two found each other again but there were things you had to go thru to appreciate the journey. It's evident when Alena had no serious commitment to God until you guys were living in sin and all the while trying not to be convicted but you saw Joe being convicted. Something similar happened to me... I am so happy you allowed God to direct you back to each other cause it's evident you guys were meant to be together

Al have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. I received Christ at age 10, grew up in church, actively participated in church, raise my kids in church… I was grown when I had that awakened moment to have a desire to know Christ and to utilize the Holy Spirit in every area of my life. Real truth of love story
I went through something similar, I was numb, but I thought I knew the Lord, I have very proud, and I knew God talked to me, but I got cocky about God telling me a man was my husband. I told him and it back fired! I had no real relationship with the Holy spirit, God had to redirect my mind! I love you all's story! I'm still going through! Tryna learn me! What I've seen is a need for God in me for real! I don't like what I see in me!! This brings hope,!
