- Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name feels like it was developed on a pretty rapid and truncated timeline.
The lack of polish obviously adds to that sense, as do things such as it simply launching without the promised English dub (while I cannot personally fathom playing these games in any way except with the original Japanese dub, a huge part of their newfound popularity in the west has been the excellent localizations these games have seen; taking away an English dub at launch only adds to the “thrown together at the last moment” sentiment the game goes nothing to dispel elsewhere either).

@@sebastienv5557its not bad, its actually amazing, but its not perfect, especially in the fire part where the framerate drops like to 20, but besides that, id still recommend it. There are people saying that original is better, but its impossible to play it due its exclusivity in Japan. So yes, i recommend you to play it
I regret pre ordered ishin so much , looking at gaiden is hella fun to play.
Funny how they keep saying its hastily put-together, when this video feels the same way.
Edit: It's been three hours and no one commented on the thumbnail saying "Like a Dragon Direct Review", despite that being the name of an event by the developers and not an actual game title.
I read in an interview that this game was created in six months. Instead of choosing a 30 minute re cap movie, they just decided to make a spin off. I'll look at it from a glass half full perspective. If this is the quality of a six month game, I'm all for it with the amount of content it has!

The fact that this is a fighting game unlike Y7 and Infinite Wealth which are JRPGs, would sell it for many many people.

Yeah idk. I’m all for being critical of the games, but these “complaints” are just things we old timer yakuza fans have been dealing with since the early ps3 days lol. Plus they kind of noted that the experience is meant to be reserved story wise, feel like that’s the whole point.

Gaiden actually takes place during 7, as after you beat the masked man for the first time. The homeless tell of a former nurse who patched up a man with a bullet wound.
I feel like this video skipped out on a lot of important info.. not the usual quality I'd expect from Gaming Bolt.

I will still hit like and continue to support this channel but wow, it’s almost impressive how much you did not understand the point, scope, and idea for this game - it isn’t a mainline entry, it’s a side story and love letter to Kiryu who will most likely not have another starring role again. But hey nobody is perfect

I going to be honest, I feel like reviewers hate on yakuza because is not Japanese GTA, yakuza games have a record of having a lot of “7”, but everything I play is like a 8/10 at least lmao

I literally play yakazu like a dragon. It's literally a 90+ plus game but for some reason it has a metascore of 82. Well gta 5 has metascore of 97.... And I'm here thinking what the hell does gta 5 do much better then yakuza like a dragon? The answer not much.
I know that you can't really delve deep into the story critique as it will be spoiler but this review would've been a lot better if you delve deep into the gameplay and side activities a lot more. The gist I get from this is that this review is hastily put together and I barely get any critique with examples other than "unpolished", I mean unpolished by what criteria exactly? from the footages shown in the video, the combat is as smooth as Lost Judgment.
You didn't even mentioned how the recruitment of the fighters works, at least not discuss it enough to get the gist out

Daytona 2 is great in this game. It’s not widescreen but neither was the original.
Understand what this is. It isn’t trying to be yakuza 8. It’s a smaller continuation of Kiryus story leading into next years like a dragon infinite wealth. For a yakuza fan, it’s a bittersweet play through giving us some insight into the events after 6, as well as a foundation for IW. If you’re expecting some drastic changes… you’re goi g to be disappointed. If you love these games, it’s a must play

I love how reviewers can’t seem to pinpoint what they hate about this game concisely but are determined to hate it somehow and yet gamers that ACTUALLY played the game love it.
IGN clearly doesn't know what players want... I believe old players just want Kiryu's comeback, and new players just want a fun game. 7/10 is OK for average joe, but 10/10 for fans.

Interesting review...I feel like this game is exactly what I expected it to be. Its a smaller game with a smaller price and it bridges the story from 6 to 8. I don't know what was expected other than that

Dude im begging you, if u havent played any yakuza game, play YAKUZA ZERO! It's the complete YAKUZA game, and It'S PREQUEL!! You'll gonna thank me later! I've played all yakuza games!! Its the perfect yakuza game, u gonna have a blast and be addicted to it 100% story and gameplay wise!! Its a masterpiece!!! then after that ull gonna speed through all YAKUZA 1 to 6, then 7. then spinoffs Judgement and lost judgement!!
I don't understand some of the comments people are leaving here, like yeah the review company may not be trustworthy because they gave a certain game 10/10 when it shouldn't have, but that doesn't invalidate the fact that there were some fair points made, it's not like this review even shit on the game entirely, yeah it didn't have the most detail and was probably rushed, but the point about there not being much time between 6 and 7 to fill out the story and add more is a completely fair argument and makes a lot of sense. This is something I too agree on and honestly don't see how that's something people would be upset about hearing especially when it was confirmed that this game was originally going to be just a 30 minute scene in LADIW, just putting it out there but when this games original idea was just a 30 minute scene in a completely different game of the series, it should really make you wonder what more there is to actually experience if you can just summarise it in 30 minutes. I love the the Yakuza/Like A Dragon series and I've played every game there is including spinoffs, but I can still call it out for shit like this despite my love for it and honestly I think people need to start doing the same sometimes instead of just supporting every decision these games have, it's not like your favourite series can't mess up or make bad calls, so to sit there and blindly support it by throwing shade to a review when we haven't even seen that much gameplay or story from this game is just dumb.
Also another little side note but the fact that the English dub for the game is delayed is also another good point to think on, like yeah the majority of people will say it's crazy to play with a dub but first of all, stfu, what people are more comfortable with is their business and who are you to tell them otherwise, and second of all it just means that some people will just have a worse experience overall or will have to wait longer before they play the game. Also yes, it is possible to have a worse experience with a Japanese dub believe it or not as some people just aren't that good at following along with subtitles and some of you need to understand that for a change.
I don't expect this game to be the next best entry into the series. I expect me and most Yakuza fans can enjoy it despite its flaws. i cant speak for other people though

I hope we get to play his character until he's an old,long haired Kung Fu Master with a fu Manchu, ( black mamba's master.) or a bald Shaolin monk. Still stomping ass for the greater good. So strange, after playing him, it reminds me of how lame I am irl and makes me want to be a better person
