It's good they do re releases. Not only it gives people to start collecting if they missed out on the figures before, but it gives the manufacturers the opportunity to fix imperfections from past figures
And gives collectors a little break on their wallet....hahahaha
Bebop and Rocksteady were the ones that got me into the line. Sill waiting to get all 4 turtles 😂

I was stoked to see these guys on the shelf! Like Hatter said, my first pair were riddled with issues. Bebop’s foot always comes off, and my Rocksteady hip was so still it broke trying to move it!
I think this was a missed oppottunity to have the camouflage pants for rocksteady

I didn’t even know this was a rerelease. I should have figured since unlike last year my target did have a haulathon section, with pizza club Leo, mirage Stockman and the punk four pack.
Meanwhile evil Rex was in the regular toy aisle with the gargoyles stuff.

My Bebop and Rocksteady have been fine, but I'm always very nervous about moving their legs around... unless I warm them up first.
The Rocksteady and Bebop figures are pretty interesting because they've had a number of changes up to this point. There's the v1s which is what you have, those were the initial release. Then they did a v2 release with the black line down Bebop's abdomen, and they darkened up all the cel shading (and added it to Bebop's ankles, which is not present in the v1s), and now we have these v3 versions with the updated colors (cleaner lining, brighter, more animated looking colors, black paint in Rocksteady's mouth finally, Bebop's jacket matches the human version more) and updated ball hips.
Don't forget how the v2 packaging replaces the recolored 2012 logo with the proper 1987 logo
Do any other figures have running changes of revisions? Leatherhead?
Might need to pick up a set just for the cartoon accurate box art.
Thank god my old Rocksteady isn't the only one that won't stand on his own, thought I got a lemon. Gonna have to find these new ones.
I literally just stumbled upon these two today. And rocksteady is my absolute favorite villain. So happy to have him fight my pizza club turtles

My first release Bebop has the black line on his stomach. His stomach colour matches his chest colour as well. I wonder if your 1st release stomach is missing some paint apps. I think I prefer the paint on 2nd release Rocksteady all around. On 2nd release Bebop, that red looks great, but I prefer the skin/fur tone of the first release. And of course, if you can pose the 2nd release figures without paint flaking off and fear of snapping off limbs, then all the better. I don't think I care enough to buy them again, but overall, it does look like the 2nd release may be superior.

My bebop leg immediately broke at the hip on the first version. Hope the joints are better

I was so happy when I found them because I didn't know they were getting released and on ebay they were so expensive so when I seen them I grabbed them right away😊
I like the older ones. I don't have "QC" issues, mine are from box to shelf "Just See" issues

The paints apps do look better on the re-release figures. But I personally need NECA to also the turtles as well. I missed out on those. People want way too much on ebay.

This makes the rest of the figures inconsistent w/ Bebop & Rocksteady 2.0 not having cell shading.. luckily I don't need these, like I dont need the Pizza Club Turtles or Punk Turtles 🤷♂️
Not true, there's several figures that don't have the cell shading, they've also moved to making it more subtle in places. They fit right in fine.
i have same issue with original Rocksteady, pretty much wont stand because of loose joint.

i'd have liked a new design, more cartoon accurate this time. they did it with their super hero costumes, those are very different. an ultimate individual release should happen.

alotta people don’t seem to know that you have to loosen the joints before posing them, most people sit em in hot water to do the trick
i dont see anything 2.0 about these, seems same stiff body and joints, hope they can re do these with new smooth joints

The line on bebop's belly wasnt present on the first release, but did have it on the second. I believe the texture on the hands was more rough on the first release as well.

Neca never lets a mold go to waste. And I get it. But not including the helmet is just bizarre.

I was never able to get bebop and rock steady besides the super versions. Didn't get Rex 1 but I got the evil one, never got og turtles but got a loose Ralph because that's my boy. I finally got all turtles but it was the new pizza single collection

If I buy these, it will only be for the helmet. Remember when they first released the turtles, they were a brighter color green? I wonder if that's kind of what they were going for here.

My 1st release set of Bebop and Rocksteady seem to have a slightly richer color than the ones you show in your video. Also, my 1st release Bebop has the black line on the stomach, which yours does not. My Bebop also has a even flows of tan color thru out his body (fur). Yours seems to have 2 tan variations between the upper body vs the lower body stomach area. If I remember right Hatter, you purchased that set on Aliexpress. That might be why. My set was purchased at a Target store.

I don’t think Henson-style Bebop & Rocksready have been officially announced but Trevor has been open to the idea. Only crossover between toon and movie that I am aware of is movie April in the yellow jumpsuit.

I happy my figures never had any issues other than standing up sometimes but I assume that’s because they are hefty. Even my krang android body has that problem.

I got lucky and ran across these. My old Bebop broke a foot so I kinda needed a re-release.
Style for Cartoon line has been defined by this specific duo tone cell shading, so doing re-release and not following their own style guide is nothing then just error and fail, it's not about if it's big deal or not it's about not being a consistent and that's a big deal and if it was done on purpose to save up some money by skipping on paint, that is not ok ... what next... characters won't have pupils to save up cost on some black pain ??? Surely neca simsps will come up with excuses that it's ok for whatever reason they pull out from their @sses :(((
For it was the Casey Jones 2pk that got me into the line... It's cool for those who missed out but I think I'm keeping my old set..not like I move them all the time....

I love the look of NECA Ultimates / figures in general, but their lack of posibility essentially makes them just a pricier McFarlane Toys. We're all but buying statues.

Coming from an animation/game design background, cel-shading on physical objects has never made sense to me. In 2D objects, shading is used as a simplistic way to show lighting. In 3D objects, it's used to replicate the look of 2D objects. In physical objects, it's used to... make an object look like it's two different colors for some reason? Idk. I'd re-purchase the whole line without it if I could. I'm not knocking anyone that likes it. It's just not my favorite.

Crap! I've been avoiding the toon line, but if I can just get Bebop, Rocksteady that would be half of the villains team. Then they are rereleasing the turtles, Then I would just need Shredder and Krang, and I would be set. Oh, I forgot April, Casey and Splinter. Oh and a few foot soldiers to fight. It wouldn't be the toon line without the Chanell 6 team. I'd need them too.

I have the originals and yeah, they are a QC nightmare. Especially Bebop. His arm fell off right out of package at the bicep. The foot and hand soon after. I hate how brittle the NECA toon figures are. But admittedly, it hasn't stopped me from buying 75% of the whole freakin' line.
Bebop, Rocksteady, and Leatherhead all had leg breaks as soon as I tried to pose them. I’m on the fence about getting these again.
