      Hi Char-Broil Grills, we really like your Tru Infrared grills! We did a very favorable video review about them: czcams.com/video/kY6YT8VdDS0/video.html, you are welcome to post a link on your web site to this video if you have a review section. Thanks much for the comment!

    I bought my first ever grill yesterday. It was the Char-Broil commercial 4 burner grill. Cleaning it seemed intimidating at first, but I did more or less the same thing as what I saw in this video and I know that in time I'll be able to do it more quickly with repetition.
    I really appreciate videos like this. I watched this after my maiden grilling voyage and I feel more confident for next time.

      Hey Daimon,
      That sounds like you bought a nice grill. Congrats! You’ll surely enjoy it! Keep it out of the weather or covered - rust is the biggest enemy. Enjoy! And thx for watching!

    Please be careful guys. Some of the newer char broil grills come with ceramic coated grates. Those are NOT meant to be cleaned with any kind of abrasive brush. Look at the manual on how to clean or even call them. If you do brush them with a wire grill you are braking off the coat and it will eventually end up in your food... that’s a no no

    I have the same grill, I do the same but using oven cleaner on the 6 grills, fire box, cover and external body, I do it after each use and seasoning the grills with oil and heating them, it takes maximum 20 minutes. I repeat that after every use, the grill still looks brand new and 100% clean after long use.

    Char Broil also recommends that you put it on high for about 15 minutes or more to burn of excess residue. let it cool down for a bit, the brush it off. My Char Broil Infra Red grates are now spotless.

    I made the mistake of using a wire scrub brush and scratched the porcelain which caused it to rust and flake off. So I bought the charbroil brush which isn’t metal but stiff non metal bristles. I have ordered new grills and will not make that mistake again! Stupid tax sucks!

    Add 15 minutes for wasp stings. Wd-40 works great on wasp stings.

    WARNING! Wire brush can lead to loose some metal wires on the grates an this can be picked up by food, then to the stomach and then the emergency room, there is a lot of cases documented. is better to use plastic brushes to clean the grates.

    My grill's instructions say no wire brushes... only nylon bristle brush and the special scraper tool that came with the grill. Commercial Series with porcelain covered grates.

      It works great. Turns build-up into dry powder. But, IMHO, this will shorten the life of the metal. And replacements are $$.

    My problem is not how to clean it but the fact that I have to clean it after every use unlike a non-infrared grill. This is because food and fat don't fall through and start burning with the next use. This is why infrared is a pain in the butt. Any suggestions on how to avoid this?

    • @Housebarons
      @Housebarons  Před 3 lety

      Hi Dusan, we clean our grill every 3rd or 4th grilling, depending on what we are grilling. If it is really messy, like after grilling hamburger we will definitely clean it. But if the grilling is on the lighter side, we will simply turn the grill on high heat for about 10 minutes to burn off all the debris. Hope this helps!

    • @Housebarons
      @Housebarons  Před 3 lety

      Hey Dusan,
      Typically I leave the heat on for 10 min after finishing to turn the stuff caught on the infrared grates to charcoal. It then scraped off pretty easily.
      You make a good point.
      A lot depends on what you can put up with. I like how it keeps the meat from drying out so it is worth the extra clean up effort to me.
      Thx for watching!

    I have the same grill, are the bottom emitter holes supposed to be visible when the top grates are placed? Or should they be covered? I couldn't find that information in the manual.

      They will likely fill up and need to be scraped out either way. Dealers choice I guess.

    You have to be careful when using a wire brush, I know a person who had a piece of the wire lodge in their intestines and had to get operated on to remove it, you must make sure that all of the bristles are off of the grates, strange but true!

    I bought a Char-Broil Infrared Grill with grillgrates (infrared emitter combined with grates - one piece). Absolute nightmare to clean. I want a grill to work for me, not other way around. I missed my old conventional grill. Don't buy into BS marketing.

      I know. I bought a Classic for less than $140 on sale and after about 4 years I replaced it with an Advantage for $200. Although it cooks hotter and more even, I miss the pull out catch tray that made cleaning a breeze relatively.
