Painting the Bearded Iris

With all Brush painting, the goal is not a botanically correct image but rather a spontaneous capturing of the essence of the subject. That is why the Brush painter never has a model but rather expresses the image that is in his mind and heart. This was never truer than when painting the Iris. After you know the basic construction of the elements, go for it with petals dancing in every direction! Exuberance is the key.
