No denying this is one of the best ‘Spider-Man discovering his abilities’ scenes, but surely most of the other kids that witnessed it are going to remember that very clearly and then make the connection when a short while later Spider-Man starts swing around the city and realise it must be Peter…the guy who did a triple backflip and punched a bully halfway down the corridor.

Back in my day, all Superman had to do was comb his hair different and put on a fake pair of glasses and no one in the world knew who he was. After watching so many Bully Maguire vids, I expected him to say “still got the moves!”.
I like Tobey’s spider sense, it’s so cool, I like how it hones in on all the possible dangers and then finally focuses on the most dangerous one.
I also like that it’s different from Andrew’s and Tom’s and vice versa. Like Tom’s is more ambient and sudden like he’s unsure and then he trusts his instincts. Andrew’s is sort of like Tobey’s but it seems more sharp and everything around him is frozen so he himself can assess the situation and has all the time he needs to come up with a solution

Holland's Peter had it all good friends, he wasnt bullied a lot and he dates the popular girl from class, had a cool sexy aunt and Tony Stark gave him all his spider gadgets, Tobey and Andrew had to do it all bey themselves in a tragic enviroment. I think that Tobey was the best Peter Parker of all. He had such a sense of vulnerability, missing in the other portrayers of Spiderman.

that "Jesus parker you really are a freak" was the silliest line. it makes no sense given what just happened. the dude would have been like "wow where do you learn to do that?!" not call him a freak because he can fight good.
The bully (strange that he's called "Flash" in a Marvel world) was excellent casting. Reminds me of a line from "Heathers," courtesy of Christian Slater. "They sure have an open door policy for assholes, don't they?"
Sami Raimi brought something about Spider-Man to our hearts that no other Spider-Man film can accomplish . The visual effects were all practical, character and emotion like no other. Even though it was not truly faithful to the comic books but Raimi kept the theme of the comics books especially with the vital message, “great power comes great responsibility”
I read Bruce Campbell's biography of him and Sam Raimi and Sam's brother breaking into filmmaking (called themselves "the Michigan Mafia") with the Evil Dead movies. Bruce said Sam had a tendency to abuse his actors, as in the original Evil Dead film, when Sam strapped Bruce into a frame on the front of Sam's car (the same one seen in "Army of Darkness.") and drove like mad through the woods to get that "onrushing demon" effect.
Sam kept it up in "Spider-Man" with Toby as well. When Toby falls and is hit multiple times by a book bag as people go by -- that was Sam laying it to Toby.
The pacing, and actual human development of characters outside of just the plot without the meta jokes.

Best fucking movie-spider-man ever. Just Peter, bunch of classmates and his powers. Nothing more. And no matter what anybody say.
This is easily one of the best scenes in all of the superheros movies to ever be released. No world-ending cataclysm to stop, no invading alien armies to repel; just a nerdy, confused high school kid accidentally using his new-found powers to defend himself against the schoolyard bully.

What a great scene. The roller coaster of emotions that Bully Maguire experienced on his road to putting dirt in your eye.
Bully Maguire is MUCH more powerful than Spiderman AND Venom put together.
