Chapin, sc it has so many history stuff if you love history and many great shops and thrift stores!
Greenville also has many shops but also has more fancy areas like malls and restaurants
Charlotte, it has so many small towns around it but has like good shops if your moveing like ikea and stuff!!
(These are just a few on the top of my head if you wanted places to go! There’s so many thrift stores in sc too! There rlly far from each other like all these places are like a hour or two away from me but there’s a lot of nice ppl in sc! I hope you enjoy it)
you're not alone in this i had an official diagnosis as a kid but didn't get told I was autistic til i turned 18 since i was told that i was just ADHD my entire life up until that point i might try to get another diagnosis soon since the previous one was over 10 years ago

I'm really proud of you for all you have been through, I am currently crying because this video feels like fate to me because I am getting diagnosed for if I have autism or not, it would make sense for me looking back but now I'm getting the help that I never got especially now I'm going to get my gcses, it feels like my problems are now getting resolved and it's so nice to see that someone is going through the same thing, just like you bit your skin, I tap my foot and tend to bit my nails a lot to the point they would bleed, thankyou for this video and to finally see something real and not acted like other Channels, I love this channel so much, I always have and I'm so glad you made this video 😊
I’m a born and raised North Carolinian, and I’m happy for you to now be able to experience the joys (and flaws heh) of the state! The majority of people here are very friendly and laid-back, and the weather can be pretty confusing, believe me I know from a life’s-worth of experience LMAO
I as well am neurodiverse, and always feel as if I’m doing something incorrectly. I struggle a lot, and am pretty closed off because of it since I’ve grown up on my symptoms and experiences being called excuses not to try,,, practically just feeling my thoughts and opinions just don’t matter to anyone just because I’m different.
You’re not alone in this, CC, I know exactly how you feel,, and I actually watched you in my younger years when I was into LPS! You’re brave for opening up to the internet, of all places, cause I hardly open up at this point for many reasons. Keep it up, Carter💙

Thankyou for sharing this with us cc, I understand how daunting it can be! I relate a lot to you and your experience, I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 16 and have only just come to terms with the realisation that most of my behaviour up until that point was masked. I’m 19 now and slowly learning to unmask and embrace the way I am naturally! It really is a journey of self re-discovery and having a LPS channel has helped me with that. I’m sending you lots of love! ❤️

I didn't get to really have any sort of "self-discovery" in the way of figuring it out myself, as it was my mum's best friend who brought it up in convo with her which led to me getting a diagnosis, shout-out to her btw for preventing me from spending the rest of my life probably thinking I'm an absolute misfit. But my journey has more-so been happening since AFTER that.
It never truly ends, because we'll keep finding out new things about ourselves as we go. Nobody can know EVERYTHING about themselves.
It's a wild ride, sure, but what's the fun in it being straightforward? Sounds boring to me! 😆

You're awesome for sharing this to us! I honestly was the same way as a kid too so don't worry your not alone!! I was diagnosed with ADHD in 1st grade, when i was about 5-6 years old and was also very emotional too. I'm so proud of you figuring yourself out and such!!! We always support you no matter what :)))))
Just to shed a bit of light on your nail picking, it has a name! Broadly, these are known as BFRBs or Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors! Your specific issue is known as Onychotillomania AKA obsessive nail picking, there's tons of different ones. The one I deal with most is Dermatillomania which is obsessive skin picking, another big one that other ppl deal with is Trichotillomania, obsessive hair pulling.
Theres many reasons why people practice these behaviors and one of them could be improper stimming like you said in this video! Other reasons can be trying to deal with OCD symptoms or other disorders which focus on control over autonomy. Another reason can just be that theres textures that you can feel that you dont want to feel so you try to get rid of them EX: peeling cuticles getting caught on clothes and hurting you so you get rid of them whatever way you can. With me, i also have Keratosis Pilaris which gives me bumpy skin that is just sosososo easy to pick, you know, to get rid of the textures!
I hope that if you see this comment it can also give you a bit of relief in knowing youre not alone in your struggles. I forgot the statistics but i think its somewhere around a fourth of the population deals with BFRBs but no one talks about it because they just think "its a bad habit that needs to be fixed" or because they feel gross. But please! Never feel gross for your BFRBs! We do them so much because theyre either self soothing or self grooming behaviors. Another BFRB that i think is kinda common but people dont talk about because theyre "ashamed" or feel gross is obsessive nose picking or Rhinotillexomania! (These words are all such mouthfuls) I do this one ALL the time because i feel like i cant breathe through my nose if theres anything gunked up in there so i de-gunk it, just too much. I dont think these ones have a name or are officially recognized as BFRBs but in my childhood i also cracked my knuckles a lot as like a stim. I think the way that ppl constantly misuse Q-tips and put them in their ears when theyre told explicitly on the packaging that youre NOT supposed to put them in your ears, yeah i think thats another example of widespread BFRBs but this one isnt stigmatized because people think it feels good even though it can damage your eardrums! Sorry for the big essay in your comments but when i first discovered that my skin picking was somrthing that a lot of other people actually did too, it made me feel a lot like you felt in this video.
I know since youve probably dealt with your nail picking from a young age, that youve probably heard all the advice in the book on this. But when i get hangnails or my cuticles start to fray, i take some fingernail clippers and clip off the skin that isnt live. Sometimes it works, sometimes i cant get as close as i need and i just make it shorter, but whatever helps to keep me from ripping it off and causing more damage is better. You could get some nail oil and try to keep the skin around your nails healthy so it doesnt want to peel, it would make your nails stronger too if thats somrthing youre looking for. Sometimes getting tools involved with BFRBs can be detrimental so if youve tried the fingernail clipper thing before but it just made you feel like you wanted to clip more than you needed, then its better to stay away from tools i suppose. Another bit of advice that ive gotten but hasnt worked for me is wearing gloves. Cant pick at nails if cant see or access nails. But you also cant do a good bit of every day activities while wearing gloves, and the plastic ones get sweaty, and if i wanted to i could just take them off whenever i felt like because theres nothing to stop me. Yeah i dont like the "just wear gloves!" advice that people who havent dealt with this throw around. I hope you can get all the support you need for your autism diagnosis! I hope you find a method of dealing with your newly discovered BFRB that works for you (i recommend stim toys that occupy either one or both of your hands, thats what really helps me)! Again, sorry to infodump all about BFRBs at you but i really think its important to spread awareness about them! Its something thats so little to some people, but a big shameful thing for others. If we talk about it then people will know they arent alone and theyre not crazy for tearing away at their own skin. I hope you have a nice day CC and whoever else reads this! ❤️
An addition: I also think it's funny that your friends already thought you were autistic because autistic and LGBTQ+ people seem to just gravitate towards each other. Like, I thought I was straight then all my friends started coming out as some part of the LGBTQ+ community then I eventually came out my self! We all didn't know but we found each other as friends and felt comfortable enough with each other that we found our true selves. I've heard it happen a lot with various marginalized groups and it's funny to see haha
Also to clarify something about the BFRB thing, self-diagnosis is widely accepted in the community I've seen on tumblr. These are things we are doing to ourselves, why would we ever need someone else to tell us that we have these behaviors? It's redundant and harmful for gatekeeping people from resources, like telling someone with a scraped knee that they can't get a bandaid for it until they get a "proper diagnosis". Sometimes self diagnosis is what's necessary to determine that somethings wrong and needs to be addressed

Im genuinely really happy you shared this with the class. Ive been a huge fan for a long time, and I feel so great knowing im not alone. And YOU arent alone either ‼️‼️‼️i didnt get diagnosed until 16, which isnt 25 but still rather late lmao. Surprisingly, it wasn't too hard getting diagnosed (it was in the Charlotte area too i think :33 ) it was a few years ago so i wouldn't worry too much about the diagnosing process, but things may have changed idk. Autistic folks are treated pretty kindly by professionals in the southern NC area, at least from my experience. I wish you well in the journey ahead of you💯💯 and I cant wait to see more of your happier, authentic self :3

There are some LPS that look very similar to each other, but have slight differences! :) A good example is kitten 110, who was released in both standing and paw-up poses!
