Concentration exercises sharpen the mind and improve the ability to concentrate.
These are the 11 Mental Concentration exercises that will strengthen the power of your mind.
The Power of Concentration - Practicing Concentration Exercises
Sharpening the needle of concentration requires practice, like everything else in life.
Do you go to the gym? If you do, how many times a week, and for how long?
Have you studied a foreign language? If you did, for how long did you practice, until you had a basic knowledge of the language?
It is the same with developing your concentration.
You need training and practice. Even only 10 minutes a day of concentration exercises will do you good.
Your mind does not like discipline, and will resist your efforts to discipline it.
It loves its freedom more than anything else, and won't let you master it.
It will make you forget to do the exercises, tempt you to postpone performing them, or make you feel too lazy.
It will find many tricks to occupy your attention with something else.
The choice is yours, to be mastered by the mind and its whims, or to be its master.
In this video, you will find a few simple 11 concentration exercises.
By practicing mental exercises, you train the mind and master it, and put it in its proper place, as your servant, and not as your boss and master.
You are not the mind, nor the thoughts that pass through it.
Though it might be hard to accept this idea, the mind is not you, the real you, but only a tool that you use.
It is an instrument, which has great value, but it has to be taught to obey you.
Most people believe that they are the mind, and erroneously believe that controlling the mind means holding themselves back and denying their freedom.
They feel that controlling their mind is not natural, and that it is some sort of repression.
These beliefs are not correct. The proof that we are not the mind comes with training.
Accept the idea in theory, and in time, as your control over your thoughts grows, you will know it as a fact.
In reality, you, the real you, is the one mastering the mind. It is not the mind mastering itself.
Advice for Practicing the Concentration Exercises
Find a place where you can be alone and undisturbed.
If you wish, you may sit crossed legged on the floor, but most people would find it more comfortable to sit on a chair.
Take a few calm deep breaths and then relax your body, by directing your attention to it, and relaxing each muscle, from head to toe.
Practice each of the following exercises for about 10 minutes, and after a few weeks of training, you may lengthen the time to 15 minutes.
It is important that you start with the first exercise, and practice only one at a time, until you are able to do it without getting distracted or forgetting it, and without thinking about anything else.
This might take days, weeks and even more.
Proceed to the next one, only after you are convinced that you have practiced it correctly and with good concentration.
    There is no timetable.
Put your whole attention into the exercises, and do not think about anything else.
Be careful not to fall asleep, daydream or think about other matters.
The moment you find yourself thinking about something else, stop the exercise and start again.
After you become proficient, lengthen the time, and if possible, include another session in the afternoon.
Do not attempt too much at the beginning, and don't try to perform them all at once.
Go slowly, without overdoing them or tensing your brain.
If you find it too difficult, or thoughts distract you and make you think about other matters, don't despair.
Everyone encounters difficulties along the way.
Remember, even those with powerful concentration had to exercise their minds.
Now, let's start with the exercises.
For the full benefit, it is advisable that you practice each exercise for one additional week,
after you are convinced that you are practicing it correctly and with full attention.
When you start to see results, you will begin to love the exercises.
You will be able to concentrate your attention easily and effortlessly, upon anything you want to concentrate on.
Do you jog, exercise at the gym, or study a foreign language?
How difficult it was when you first started?
How many times you wanted to quit?
Despite the difficulties, after a while, you started to like what you were doing.
It became a habit, and did not require special effort.
So it is with developing the Power of Concentration.
After some practice, it will be easier to concentrate, and your mind will learn to be calm and relaxed.

      RECAP4ME
0:01 Pre Amble ->or read pre amble in description box
      LESSONS 1...11
      01# 4:39 Concentration : by counting words
      - take any book, count words in any paragraph, count same paragraph twice till it's easy to do with just your eyes no finger place holding.
      02# 5:00 Concentration : by counting 100 to 1 sequentially ie 99, 98, 97
      03# 5:10 Concentration : by counting backwards 100 to 1 using a degree of hardness...ie skipping 3 so 97, 94, 91
04# 5:20 Concentration : repeating a thought uninterrupted ie choose an inspiring word or sound, repeat it silently mentally first 5mins then for 10mins uninterrupted
05# 5:36 Concentration : focus VISUALLY on something without being distracted by other thoughts ie Look & feel a fruit, focus on fruit for touch texture weight hardness colour etc never allowing other thoughts to enter your head. You can control external thoughts...10mins
06# 6:17 Concentration : same as 05# but use mental visualization not physical visualization ie power of recall, close your eyes...same procedure focus without distraction thoughts
07# 6:59 Concentration : by focusing VISUALLY on form not words of an object like a spoon
08# 7:20 Concentration : moving from form given to you (eg spoon) you create form then focus on it ie draw a 3inch square triangle or circle, colouring it in before focusing on what you have done without external thoughts interrupting you. Your building on your thoughts not building on thoughts given to you eg a spoon
09# 7:57 Concentration : same as 08# but having drawn, memorised close your eyes so your using your powers of recall to build focus without external thoughts interrupting....10mins
10# 8:15 Concentration : move from physical visualization (eyes open to sample briefly) to mental visualization (eyes closed) now back to physical visualization (eyes open longer allowing distractions but resisting distractions).
11# 8:25 Contraction : by creating mental silence (removing all thoughts from mind having learned first to focus, eliminate distractions, creating a power to recall, now eliminating thoughts under your control).
Objective : as concentration gets stronger, you will find more clarity and more abilities in all your tasks.
I agree...these are relatively simple exercises which surprisingly are difficult on first untrained mind but will become easier with practice and habit.

Not really. A lot of ppl make it their identity. "I'm an overthink, nothing can change that and it's too hard to do anything else" is the way your subconscious hears it because if it's too hard? You're just an overthinking so you have no control over it

    Concentration exercises
    1. Count the words in a paragraph twice. After a few times do a few paragraphs then a whole page when it becomes easier.
    2. Count backwards in your mind from 100 to 1. When this becomes easy skip every three numbers.
    3. Repeat a simple phrase or sound and repeat it in your mind for 5 minutes. When this becomes easy increase to 10.
    4. Pick up a fruit and examine/focus on it for 5 minutes. When this becomes easy examine the fruit for 2 minutes and then imagine the fruit.
    5. Look at a simple object with a clear mind.
    6. Draw and color a shape on a paper and focus on it. When this becomes easy memorize the shape, close your eyes and visualize it. When that becomes easy, do it with your eyes open.
    7. Keep your mind clear for 5 minutes.
Seems logical, but I'd look at and compare with other exercises. Nintendo's Brain Age Concentration Training has you doing exercises that involve taking in new information while simultaneously outputting the old. For example: memorize the answer to an equation that's on the screen but give the answer for a previous equation.

For exercise one, are you saying the words in your head also or just glossing over them and counting? This one has me stumped, I want to do it correctly. Also, these dont seem to be ordered correctly in terms of difficulty. For example, exercise 5 is much easier to do than exercise 1. Seems counter intuitive to start at the hardest and work down from there.
