My solo day hike of Table Rock in Dixville Notch NH. This trail depicted did not count for The Terrifying 25 (T25) hiking list (See Below). The Terrifying 25 list, created by Trish, Alex, and Sage Herr, consists of the most interesting White Mountains trails that have slides, rock scrambles, or boulder caves. This video is part of my series where I attempt to find the best day hikes in New Hampshire. Have I found the most TERRIFYING day HIKE in New Hampshire? A top day hike in New Hampshire instead? Specifically Table Rock is located near Dixville Notch NH.
This trail did not count for The Terrifying 25 (T25) hiking list. Note the trail that I completed does not technically count for "The Terrifying 25" as stated. I made a mistake and climbed the Table Rock Trail instead of the Table Rock Climbing Trail. I have corrected my alltrails map to point to the correct trailhead. Don't make my mistake! New video of the correct trail in the future!

Hey so it would seem I actually just hiked the Table Rock Trail and not the Table Rock Climbing Trail which is the trail for the official Terrifying 25 list. I have corrected my all trails map in the description and hope to make a video of the real terrifying 25 table rock trail soon. My mistake! Whoops! Don't make the mistake I did!

Huntington Ravine Trail, Mt. Washington should be on the list.
All the different angles in this video, wow! Hiking alone is already tiring. I can’t imagine all the work you put into getting all the right angles. Your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed! 😊 Gained a new sub!
Since I'm so new to it..... It is literally making the hikes take twice as long!

Another great video Adam. I enjoyed the view at the top and the drone footage added to the experience.
Tried to really make it look cinematic!
Excellent video with nice pics.! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it! Hope I keep making things you enjoy!
thanks for the video. It was really done nicely. A bit too terrifying for me to go out to the edge, I'm glad you did it for me!
Glad you enjoyed it! Watch out then if you dare watch my Roger's ledge video too 😂😱
I love how you let the hike do the talking Adam, instead of talking over the hike!
Why thank you! Some of the newer ones i do do a tiny bit more talking at certain points. But I think it’s tasteful and you’d still enjoy the experience!
I just did this for the first time a couple of days ago it was easily the craziest scariest cool thing I have ever done in my life and when I'm in newhampsire again I will be doing it again
Nice one! It is seriously scary getting all the way out to that point! I don't know how people can just sit on the edge. I was so scared!
Adam Hoyt is the Man!!
Tru dat thanks man!
Love this! great work!
Thank you so much! More to come!
Wonderful footage. I felt a little uneasy when you were at the summit. Well done!
I felt even more uneasy!
No way. This is excellent footage. I would've thought you had like 500k subscribers lol! I cant wait to watch this on my TV.
Maybe one day! You have to start somewhere right? Tell all your friends and we can help me get closer. hahahahaha
@@AdamHoyt Yes I will ! Btw would you mind checking out my channel. I always appreciate constructive criticism! Thanks again for Replying @Adam Hoyt
Lovely footage! Thank you :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video man! New sub!! On recommendation I would make is during your initial hiking videos, add the "Trail guide" commentary as kinda a narrative to keep it interesting. To switch up angles do a few more where you are walking towards the camera, and even a few POV shots. This video was amazing and I cannot wait to see your future work. I loved the drone shots!! What a beautiful hike, and what a great showcase of nature. Best of luck in your future hikes and videos!
Thanks for the sub and the feedback. Always trying to shake things up and incorporate more stuff. This is one of my earlier videos and I slowly started making changes in each one after. so check those out!
I'm terrified of heights, so thank you for showing me this amazing place and view without me having to be there myself.
And I've been told its on the less terrifying side of the things I might encounter on this list going forward. Can't wait to show you those as well!

Great footage dude, you should make more of these. Just got a new sub by the way.
Thanks for the sub! New video out today and hopefully new footage weekly! Hope to get some exciting winter footage soon!
Just came across your hiking channel. I hiked a Presidential Traverse a few years ago. The Whites are breathtaking and a bit unsettling. Hiking across Webster Cliffs was terrifying!!
Your video is high quality!! I’m subscribing.... 😀 Looking forward to more!! I’m in Central Virginia, 30 minutes from the AT. 👍🏻😀
Hey Thanks! I'm glad you liked the videos! I hope to do the presidential traverse myself someday. I'm all about those ones that are terrifying.
Oh my gosh you are in great shape! That was a nice hike and beautiful to.
Thank you so much!
Holy cow this is intense! So beautiful though!
You should see the one where I actually hiked the correct trail 🤣 czcams.com/video/7O_pCJH15vk/video.html
Another of our favorite north country hikes! The view was a lot less spectacular for the one we did with video though. You had a great day for it.
You'll have to definitely go back and check it out again. Or check out the second time I did following the actually terrifying trail haha
Awesome video man! Thanks for sharing this
Now you just need to make it there yourself someday!
@@AdamHoyt oh yeah for sure! We have a good time filming our adventures also
Great video dude!
Glad you enjoyed it! might do part 2 of this one soon!
Lovely aerial footage! 👌
Almost finished with the 52, considering this list for my next endeavor. We stayed at the Balsams a few years back but didnt hike this, looks like we should have!
I can hardly picture the day when I'll be close to finishing all these lists. I have found this one to be particularly rewarding so far! I highly recommend you check it out!
@@AdamHoyt we've apparently hiked a few already, Morgan Percival being the most recent but Im not sure if thats still on the list. Flume slide was tricky. Still trying to wrap my head around climbing Huntington ravine too! 😄
Love it!
Thanks!!
Very cool man... reminds me of Mt. Tablerock NC... I spent some time there with the NC Outward bound school back in the late 80's. Where I first learned to climb and repell. Good video.. thanks for post
The real trail you should ascend to table rock to count for the hiking list I think would remind you even more of the table rock you learned to climb on. I hope to get that version up soon!
@@AdamHoyt very cool I subscribe to your channel so I'll be keeping a look out brother
That's an awesome hike! Great editing! Subbed!
Thanks for the sub! What sort of hikes do you like to see? I have some nice fall foliage ones coming up!
@@AdamHoyt I have a thing for hikes near water. Most of my hiking I do at Cumberland Falls state park, which if you haven't been it's worth the trip.
Thanks Adam for another great video. Is Adorandiks in your list of things to do?
Yes I’d love to hike there!
that looks unbelievable
It felt unbelievable!
Wow! Terrifying 25 is probably something I will never complete! I am at 23/48 for my 4,000 footers and I have done a couple trails on the terrifying 25 from just those.
I believe I’m 3/25 from doing the tripyramids and the Tom,field, and Wiley loop.
That's the trick Nolan! you can do them at your pace. 16 of the 25 can be found on the NH 48. Why not check them out while you're at it! Heck almost half the T25 list seems to be solely focused on Mt Adams so you should definitely be able to check on off there!
wonderful walk in the woods. I live in New Mexico and a CDT trail nut. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! I'll have to look into that one.
Awesome hike man. I love new hampshire. My one video is mt willard in new hampshire
Going to be posting that One next month!
The Balsams is closed. It was supposed to undergo renovations but there have been issues. They don't vote at the hotel any more.
Though it’s closed, a quick google search showed joe Biden won its 2020 votes. So they must still be forcing it to go on somehow because of tradition even though it no longer makes sense 🤷♂️
Adam, Steve is your uncle, my brother. Great review of the hike to Table Rock, we will need to that next summer when we are in Dummer. Recently on one of the FB hiking groups a call went out for hikes with a view that are not on the 4000nh or 52wav. Here are the suggestions
Monadnock!!!
Mount Wantastiquet
Zeacliff
Sandwich Dome
Chocorua?
Waternomee
Pack monadnock
west rattlesnake. Overlook of squam lake
North Moat Mountain
go to these coordinates :43° 17' 15.06" N, 71° 9' 39.42" W there is a geocache there.
Thanks for the suggestions Rick! Think I need to prepare myself for some winter hiking before I tackle some of these for this year.
Chocorua is on the 52, one of the finest on the list actually
Beautiful area.
It really is!
Thank you very much
You are welcome
I am terrified of most heights. I know you warned me but that was cruel. 😱😱
Ya this one is pretty gnarly. I was scared. I do not like heights lol
Just went the other day. It was so beautiful
O I bet you caught it right in the peak of leaves maybe! That must have been extraordinary!
It was amazing. There were some bugs at the top though that were biting eveyone up there. Did that happen to you?
@@isnotyourmom not the day I went! Pretty normal and big free!
Great vidio. You speak in a interesting way. Keep it up. I sub to your chanel.
I appreciate that! I hope to keep it up!
That was very scary.
Just wait for tomorrows video!!!
Snowshoed up the 1st time was there, right that point. The following year hiked up, then saw the sign. No snowshoes, beyond this point!
Whoops! haha
What month did you go?
Great video. Just subscribed 😊
Hi Justine! Welcome aboard! So in every video I do in the hike info section of the video description I include the date of the hike. This video I filmed on 09/19/2020 which was maybe a week or two before peak foliage that year. My Roger's Ledge video I filmed that same year but in the middle of the peak foliage and that was wild!
Beautiful videos Adam!! Wondering whether drones are allowed in certain areas of the white mountains? Wanting to get some similar shots as yours for our personal hiking memories!
Hi Su. Like everything there are all sorts of rules and regulations and it is very hard to keep it all straight! Did you know that the Appalachian trail itself is considered a national park? So while say 99% of a mountain would be ok for droning in NH, the 5ft wide section of the AT would technically be off limits? It's interesting. This is the best resource I have found: wmnf.oncell.com/en/drone-policy-206356.html. Generally as long as its not a wilderness area or an official alpine zone you'd be good but check the official website I linked for specifics for specific areas!
Thank you Adam! This is super helpful- just learned what MOA stands for and now better understand that we can fly in appropriate places in the White mountains!! Thanks for the great videos!
I remember mt Morgan being a terrifying hike. Well I was 10, and climbing ladders on a rock face. Which I volunteered to do. Camp counselors seemed a lot more lenient 20 years ago. Either way I too call the 603 home.
Well hey check in on the Mt Morgan video and see if the ladders still live up to your memory! I have a feeling that they must have been replaced at some point and are way less rickety than originally!
Awesome hike. What pack were you using?
The Hyperlite Junction 2400 Pack. Link in the description as well!
Thanks for showing the trial. Even in the dust of light I could make out what it looks like. Sooooo many of these videos show the hikers face. They have their go-pro on a stick and that camera seems to be STUCK on the hikers face while they yak and yak going on and on for minutes about the trail the are walking on and that we would like to SEE!! I would like to go up but my husband won't. We stay around the White Mt forest area. Good job.
I’m glad I was able to provide the kind of variety and transportation to bring there that you were looking for! It’s what I strive to do in each of my videos. Feel free to check out more!
What is your one must have item you take on trail that might not be totally practical but has multiple uses?... mine is the Stanley french press, doubles as a cook pot.
This is a hard question. Most of my stuff is quite practical.. But having a good coin in an easy to reach spot to retighten my camera's tripod mount might be one that is out of the box. Way easier than carrying a screw driver. Life hack right there!
Did you get that mountain shelving from Shakedown Goods?
Hi Sara! So that shelf was gift to me and it came from Esty. I am told the exact shop it was bought from is no longer making or selling things. But I think there are many similar shelves from similar stores on there.
Hahaha yeah; and it’s always windy up there
Always!
I live nearby. Could you tell me where to find this trailhead please?
Hi William! Do you mean the climbing trail that is for the T25 or the more leisurely trail to the top showcases in this video?
No wonder my daughter said she was crying when she climbed table rock. I had no idea.
It is so scary!!!!!!!!1
You have inspired me to get over there and hike table rock via the climbing route! Make sure to check out my channel and check out how steep it was!! . It was truly terrifying!!!!!! You’re saying is stuck in my head and now I constantly scream “ this is terrifying “
It certainly is one of the great thrills. Luckily the view is great not that close to the edge as well so you don't have to be a truly crazy person to fully enjoy it. Glad you got out there! Look forward to seeing your video!
6:22 you crazy man... Would it be wise to have a paraglider in case?
Gosh I'm not sure it's even tall enough for that to work properly haha. Though it may have been windy enough!
Hoyt FIGHT
I'm ready!
@@AdamHoyt 😁....alright alright alright, your name sounds like martial arts move. 💪🏾👽✌🏾
I’m going attempt to complete this list as well. My palms got sweaty just watching this xD I might bitch out to be honest lol.
Lol well jokes on you because I hiked the wrong trail here. This wasnt even the terrifying route. Check out the follow up video lol.
@@AdamHoyt Wonderful… lol. I’ll check it out! I just started binging your videos today! You get amazing footage. Can’t wait to see future uploads :)
There's another trail to the top. Park in the little pulloff where the road feels like it's going to fall off the face of the earth. It's been a long time since I've hiked it but it's steep and rocky but shorter than the other trail, if I remember correctly.
Check out the “I made a mistake video” haha
You’re a better man than me
Only for the views my friend 😂🤣🙈
The easy trail my knee can’t do the t25
So it is a little bit past the balsams entrance going west out of the notch. Towards colebrook. This map shows where it starts. There’s a little parking lot and a sign where it starts.

Thanks!
must be exhausting to set a camera up, walk past it, then go back and get it, then edit out of the walk back footage.
It just means that everyday get's to be leg day!
Still less scary than Machu picchu mountain
Awe inspiring that one was. That be cool to get that mountain front and center on here someday.
