  • @enriquetoso
    @enriquetoso Před 6 měsíci +5

    SMC Pentax "K" are my favorites. 90% of Taks character with very fast desings. 4/20, 2.8/24, the great Hollywood 2/28, 2/35 (non radioactive Tak), 1.2/50, 1,8/85 (idem 35).
    That is the real most underrated and unknown lens set.

      have you compared the 85 1.9 Super Takumar to Pentax k 85mm 1.9?

    • @enriquetoso
      @enriquetoso Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@r.d.fodrek I have used both, but have not compared them directly. In fact the 1.9 only for still photos. The early takumars are much more vintage than the SMC or the Pentax K (which are a mix of the best takumar designs, with Contax fast angles). In fact the 1.9 is based on an 83mm f1.9 with an M37 mount. After 1.8, I know that there are 2 different optical design versions. Perhaps the difference is comparable to what you would find in a Canon FL versus a Canon FD.

    Super cool lenses, I believe the yellow flares and amazing character has something to do with the way they were made, these lenses have a form of radium in the glass that give that look. it also means that they are slightly radioactive. love the video.

    Those gorgeous circular gold flares are incredible. I wonder how close the SMC Takumar version gets to yours? The Super Takumars don't seem as common as the SMC or Super Multi Coated versions. What exactly does the script of your model say on the inner lens ring? What is the filter size? Apparently there are a number of versions of this lens, even in the Super Takumar range. This video makes me want to go to the art gallery with my Pentax and Minolta lenses.

    In my opinion, Asahi Pentax Takumar lenses are underrated and undervalued. The 8-element 50mm and the 105mm are my personal favorites.
    I own and use the following:
    Asahi 35mm f/3.5 Super Takumar (49mm filter)
    Asahi 50mm f/1.4 Super Takumar (8-element) (49mm filter)

      Very impressive collection! I completely agree with your statement. Do you see a significant difference between the 8-element and 7-element 50mm?

    • @Narsuitus
      @Narsuitus Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@MarcelGlas
      The 8-element had a reputation for being one of the best 50mm f/1.4 lenses ever made. Its image quality competed with Leica and Zeiss.
      I was so impressed with the 8-element lens that when I bought my Leica rangefinder, I never bought a 50mm lens for it. Also, when Nikon became my system 35mm camera, for years I delayed buying a 50mm lens for it because the 8-element Takumar had set a high standard for image quality.
      The 7-element version was a very good lens but was not as good as the 8-element version. One major problem with the 7-element lens is that it had a radioactive lens element that gradually turned yellow over time. The 8-element was not radioactive and did not turn yellow.

    • @MarcelGlas

      Hey there, I always color grade the footage. If you're specifically asking about the comparison to the modern lens, I did a rough color correction to match both. The Super Takumar renders everything a bit cooler than the Tamron.
