Heather Headley as the Witch is one of my favorite, most unexpected casting choices.
+Nick Mullins I wish I knew about it while it was on :( Her voice during Stay With Me was beautiful.
She adds some subtle r&b riffs to her vocals that really helps to set apart her character from the others, it’s a nice touch and utilized her vocal experience to its full potential in this role.

This production was incredible. The Muny is an enormous theater (it seats 11,000) set right in the middle of the beautiful Forest Park in St. Louis. It's a really magical thing to sit under the stars in summertime watching Broadway talent perform great musicals. This video really doesn't do it justice.
I saw this 5 of the 6 shows. It was truly brilliant to watch live.

The show seems so incredible with the cast, the blocking, hell even the set is atleast interesting, but..... woooooooow the costumes 😬
I hate the gloves on the Witch before the turn the most because you're gonna lose all the motions and gestures Heather Headley could have made....for THAT

I saw the costumes and I read that as the point of them. That they were so 2d and flat to go with the fairytale aesthetic and how the characters are these archetypes, particularly at the start, such as we got from the first set before they went 'into the woods'. I may be reading too much into it but I thought it worked. The witch's for instance was a lot more substantial and realistic, possibly because she is far more complex from the start. It would be nice I suppose to see the costumes fleshed out and appearing more real as the characters grow throughout the show. Just my thoughts though.

What are you talking about……..improved? Lol…….Heather NEVER needed improvement. Her voice has always been stunning from High School to now. Duh.
@@gjm2669 she was always trying to hit notes and riffs beyond her range and it seemed like she was always struggling to get there. Like she was sick and trying to push forward.

I've just put this more fully under the replies to a different comment along the same lines but I think the 2d archetypal costumes might be deliberate to make a point about the characters and to go with the fairytale/storybook vibes that we see, especially in the opening number

Grayson Hart all that bright white tape on the edges of set pieces so the actors can see the edge in low light and avoid falling off lol. There's just a lot of it and worth he camera zoomed in it's just particularly noticeable.
