- Time for another collab! This time Josh and I are playing "You Get Me High" by Skillet, off of the deluxe edition of Unleashed, "Unleashed Beyond"
This was a pretty fun one to do as there are a few harmonies throughout, including during the solo. I played the low harmonies while Josh took care of the high ones and I think it turned out great!

How do I play these power chords E,D,G,C?

what is the hardest power chord? And how do i play it?
All power chords are the same chord shape (example: 2nd fret of the E with the 4th fret of the A, 5th fret of the E with the 7th fret of the A, open fret of the A with the 2nd fret of the D etc. You can also add a third string which would be played on the same fret as the second note in the chord on the next string), so there is no "hardest" power chord. But if you're in dropped tuning they become easier since all you have to do is lay your finger straight across the 2 (or 3) thickest strings

Not sure what the hardest chord is but I had trouble playing this one quickly and cleanly for a while (played on the A, D, G, B and E strings) 76777

What pedals are you using to get this sound? It’s great
I didn't use any "real" pedals, myself. I use a program called JamUp Pro for the iPad which has a few amps and pedals built in. So in the app my signal chain is: Noise Gate, Tube Drive (Which is modeled after the Ibanez Tube Screamer), the Lead 800 amp (Which I believe is modeled after the Marshall JCM 800) and an EQ pedal.
I'm not sure what Josh uses but I added a "telephone" effect to his guitar during the intro and verse while mixing in Garageband for the iPad

Back In 2014 you played the guitar with your face showing. Why don't you do that anymore? Oh do you have to get permission from skillet to do covers?
I usually don't show my face in any of my videos because I'd prefer to have the fretboard in the center of the screen, and so I can keep the camera close up to it.
I've never gotten permission for a cover, but artists typically encourage people to upload covers of their songs anyway. I once posted a tweet about learning all of the guitar solos from Skillet's Rise album and Seth Morrison (Skillet's guitarist) replied to me and said something along the lines of "Nice! Let me hear!" so I uploaded my "All solos from Rise" video, which he then watched.
I've also received postitive comments from members of Theocracy and Showbread on my covers of their songs, so asking for permission isn't really required.
