Ventrac 4500Z w/ Tough Cut - Mowing 6-8 Foot TALL Cattails!

- Ventrac 4500Z mowing 6-8 foot tall cattails with the Tough Cut (HQ680) in the bottom of a 600 foot long drainage ditch. As the video shows, its slow going, and take quite a lot of power to mow cattails, even more so when they're green. This video was filmed in September of 2021 with a GoPro Hero 8.

Yep, its sure isn't a quick job to mow cattails. The tractor and tough cut are both built for it. Just another day of work for the Ventrac.

One thing I don't like is that mower should be at least as wide as the outer duals because the outer tire runs over some of the next pass making it harder to cut what was run down. After hearing that belt constantly slipping, I think I would still rather use a bush hog with a steal direct drive and shaft behind a good tractor in this situation.
Wonder how the fast cut flail would cut those? But double the weight of the tough cut so careful in the mud. Also wonder if the hedge trimmer could reach out there and drop it?
The fast cut flail mower absolutely wouldn't have been able to mow the cattails in the video, knowing how the tough cut had to work at it.
I have never worked my Ventrac that hard before. 2" trees and 6' tall grass do not compare to cattails.

Cat tails are a controlled species I think you need permission to remove them.
