  • Review of swapping out the crankset on the Hyper 26in E-Bike. I went with the BUCKLOS MTB 170mm Square Taper Crankset and also opted to not put on a chain guide as after watching some videos it seemed it was not needed with this setup. I road about 11 miles in some pretty ruff rocky desert terrain with no chain drops or slap, thanks to the LIZARD SKIN chain stay protector. I also replaced the magnet sensor which I ordered from HYPER and had REI install everything for me. The bike is running great with all the upgrades, I will list everything down below.

Seemed to hold up just fine. I have used JG chainrings for more budget builds, since they offer narrow-wide chainrings for such a good deal.

Yes saw some reviews on those. Cant wait to get it out more to see how it holds up. I took it on one of my loops i do on one of my tours and it really did good.

Great review Tony. Zero chain drops on the rocky-chunky trails in Vegas, that’s a great test!

Crazy. I am so thrilled. She is going out with me on Friday with a guest. Will see how she rolls.

Excellent - Thank you for the INFO... This is just what I needed so that I can determine if it is what I need to do to my 26er. Thanks so very much.

Gillbert, i hope it helped. It really turned this into more of a mountain bike now with just this simple change out. I have a lot more confidence in it as well. Keep riding!! 😎

How do you like the crank s so far. wondering if the arms bend or if the mounting square is still tight????

So far, they have been great. It is my wifes bike, so she doesn't really crank like maybe you and I. I have ridden it about 3 times and climbed a few hills with no problems. I just switched it out to a 7 speed, adding a 14 to 34 rear cassette and new derailleur. Will be doing an update vid soon. Crank set is well worth the money.

@@VegasHyperAdventures Thanks for the reply and review and letting me know about it being the wifeys bike and that the torque output may not be the same.
