  • Trying to improve the distance between microscope and working bench I mod it with a divergent lens upfront...the position is way higher and better place for working the boards..of course a good adjustable stand it's a need!

IDK what youtube does, I have the "HD" model and the quality is certainly better than that the framerate is the same though but since I'm basically using it for pcb repairs or a stationary object I don't need mines for video(it can do it but not 60fps at those zooms it makes movement look jerky). What the hd version did was crop in and add another megapixel (not gonna be that drastic of a difference, I believe the original is 2mp). I'm about 6 inches or roughly 12-13cm(for the non imperial folk) and I get a decent "zoom". Let's not kid ourselves though it is nowhere near 1000x, maybe 100x or possibly below. Does kinda make you wanna spend more for one with interchangeable lenses even higher workspace range(distance between microscope and object), there's these little cube things that go for less $200 some as low as $130ish on ebay that have HDMI, you do have to splurge on a stand or "boom arm" but if you're doing it for video 60fps may be worth it oh and 38mp to boot.
I bought one of these and have no regrets, maybe a 720p 60fps setting? I think they essentially took a webcam circuit and added a lens and manual focus and bam you got yourself a "microscope", that being said for kids or light hobbyist it does the job.

For light soldering work (I bought mines with a metal stand $45ish USD) these little gadgets are ok, they are not great but they aren't useless. The cheaper one even has slightly better zoom according to another youtuber. The cheap metal stand that comes included is a TRAVESTY but in a pinch it will do huh?
