    That simple level crossing scene looks fantastic. For some reason, evn if Ernie was standing on a beach in the Carribean, he'd look like a signalman, just on holiday. He's perfect !! 😁👍👌

    Great work Paul! The level crossing and cottages are excellent; the rock work and overall scenery is quite stunning! That bridge is certainly going to look impressive spanning a canal scene. I'm originally from Lymm, Cheshire, which is bisected by the Bridgewater Canal, and when you showed your diorama with it's murky green water and weed-ridden tow path, it brought back fond memories! (I had the Manchester Ship Canal just a few hundred yards to the north, but that's another story.) I really enjoy your presentations and modelling techniques.
    Best wishes, Alan in British Columbia.

    Brilliant work, Paul. Stunning scenes and creations, as always. Congrats on 5K subs- well-deserved. As far as what to put in your videos, the answer is in you. OF course I and many others love seeing your process. You work so well and explain it so well and thoroughly in such a great way it is a joy to watch. Yet, it also adds time to work. We all work slower to camera than live, so you have to decide how much pleases you and pleasing your viewers. I love the process, but am also happy seeing the end results and hearing a summary instead. You're one of the best out there- but keep yourself in your groove, not ours.

I scratch built a pub based on my local from there material packs, if you keep the dimensions of the building within the size of there preformed sheet sizes it is not a problem. you can buy windows and doors from Wills or other manufactures.

    Great video Paul, good to see the progress. Yes please I would love to see how you do the wills kits. But I have a complaint. Many years ago at the start of my working life I was a freight guard at a depot called Guide Bridge on the Woodhead line between Manchester and Sheffield. Now contrary to opinion we didn't just sit in the van drinking tea, but had a serious job assisting with the braking of the train on gradients. So please stop the dreadful and dangerous practice of running loose coupled freight trains like the one in the video without a brake van. Thank you. Obviously only joking. But I was a freight guard. Looking forward to the next video, whatever it maybe.

    Hi Paul I made those shops for my layout but I changed the flat front shop windows for bay windows made from Evergreen plastic parts they look much better, just saying !

      Thanks Terry, it’s the beauty of these kits making small changes like what you’ve done. Space wise I don’t think I have it at the front to add a bay but I was considering converting it to a pub instead of the shop. Paul

    Hi, I have just spent a wintry afternoon watching some of your scratch building and I have a couple of questions if you wouldn't mind answering please. I am living in Canada so mostly HO scale material here, but I saw you using some Slaters brick and stone sheets, I was wondering are these easy to cut, shape, bend, paint etc. I see there available in 00 scale so I may order some. Also when you are using card stock for some of your builds, is this just cardboard or is it foamboard? I'm attempting to build the Goods Shed that is in Mullingar, my home town and I love following along with your tips. Is there a video where you used the Slaters slate sheets and painted them? Cheers Eamonn

    • @GalgormHall
      @GalgormHall  Před 3 lety

      Hi Eamonn, thank you for choosing to watch those videos instead of doing some modelling!! 😆. The Slaters sheets are approximately 0.5mm thick so cut very easily with a couple of passes of a craft blade. I use enamel paints for most of my brickwork and have never had any issues with it adhering to the plastic. If using acrylic however it may be necessary to prime the plastic prior to painting. The card stock is primarily Daler board, a 1.5mm heavy cars that is used by picture framers for mounting artwork, etc and can usually be bought in art supply shops although if you can get foam board more readily it will do the job just as well. Episodes 8 and 9 of the shop build will also give you further information on producing the tiled roof from layering up the slaters sheet to the final painting stages. Hope that’s of help and if you need anything more just ask. Paul
