    📊 STAAAAAAATS!! I am here for this genre of episode! 🤓
    My favourite book of December was the conclusion of a long-running series, which I seem to be very partial to if how much I enjoyed concluding “The Expanse” in August was anything to go by. If I’ve spent 10+y reading a single storyline, I’m clearly invested and it means a whole lot more for me to reach the end.
    The Prequel-After-Book-One thing is interesting. I marked up “Ruins of Smoke” with that data point in TSG, for when I get to it. I read Cahill’s “The Fall” first, and immediately bounced off reading anything more by him. So maybe these action-packed prequels need more careful consideration, though I went with Cahill’s yearly poll results when deciding on that one. I also think you like more action in your tales than I seem to.
    Loving the data dump at the end. Excited to see the SF segment of the pie chart expanding 😍

      I also read The Fall first but was fine with it (which seems weird for me to say now!)

    Hi there. I have not heard about those books or series before, so thanks for that information. In December I read while listening to 4 light novel volumes of the series Spice and Wolf. J. Michael Tatum and Brina Palencia are narrating this 24 volume series and I am loving it. I also finished listening to while reading the second book in the Mistborn era 2 series by Brandon Sanderson. I have also started listening to book 3, the Bands of Mourning, but I haven't finished it yet. Book 2, the Shadows of Self took me a while to get into, but after the third chapter I was hooked. I really like the style of humor that was used. I also really like sitting with Wax, Wayne, and Marasi. I feel like I am sitting with some friends. Also that ending was a sucker punch for me. It was so sad. My goal for this month, is to finish listening to the third and 4th book in the Mistborn era 2 series and then to either start working on the Skyward series, start working on the secret projects, or work on a few stand alone books, or start reading while listening to the Stormlight Archive series for the first time. I have no idea what direction my reading mood will go. Those stand alone books include, A Boys Life by Robert R. McCammon, the Sword of Kaigan, A Gentleman from Moscow, Project Hail Mary, and Guns of the Dawn by Adrian Tchaikovsky, and Lonely Castle in the Mirror. I will let you know what I wind up pursuing.

      I'm glad you're enjoying the characters so much, that can really make the experience that much more worthwhile! Personally, I didn't get into the first book of Era 2, but then it moved away from my sort of thing, so it didn't surprise me. Project Hail Mary was fantastic!

    I was already excited to get to Waystations, but now you've totally sold me. I love those engaging action-packed books that still take some times to slow down and let everyone breathe, I have a feeling this will be right up my alley.
    And totally fair on Ruins of Smoke. I read it after book 1 and loved it, but your critiques make a lot of sense!
    Loved seeing all your stats as well. I hope 2024 will be just as great, if not better 🤩

    I had Night Fall, By the rivers of Babylon, Wild Fire by Nelson DeMille ans started Crossroads of Twilight by Robert Jordan last month. Night Fall was the best. Iended the year having fun with WoT.

    I didn't love Oathbringer very much when i first read it. I re-read it before Rhythm of War was released, and I liked it much more the second time around.
    I want to figure out my genre percentages for the year! I'm going to do that today.

    • @dominishbooks
      @dominishbooks  Před 6 měsíci

      I think my sci-fi percentage this year will probably be a little below the 2023 figure, but I don't know all of the reading 2024 has in store for me yet!

      @akellerhouse83 Před 6 měsíci

      @@dominishbooks I had 33% sci-fi, 47% fantasy, and 20% other. My percentage for other genres was surprisingly high.

      Oh, it was so good. Not something I thought would be my thing, perhaps, but it was great despite that.
