Just found this. Brilliant video. Just glad I am of the generation that remembers AWP the first time around.
Donkey shite pal 👍..much appreciated 👍😁. Iv done a few more similar locations videos but I find it strange how this particular 1 pops up more than the others 🤷♂️.. iv no idea how these algorithms work , but if you've got a few minutes spare check out my other awp videos ,, 1 that's of maybe particular interest could be the Thornely Manor Front Door which I acquired a few years ago and is now proudly displayed on my garage..... "What Garage" 🤣🤣👍
"what the fu"! Barry, when he's startled by the vicar after a spot of brass rubbing 🤣🤣🤣
Great dedication mate, it’s good to know people like you exist to bring people like me these great location videos, full marks!! 👍
😁👍...danke... bit of fun innit. And as soon as this lockdown thing is over I'll be back out there for more .
Best show ever
Love the show one of my favourites miss it very much miss gary holton too. sad he's gone. gary rest in peace
Yeah me and the wife still watching in 2020, best show ever
Still watch it 2020 excellent show
Great video. I've just spent the last few weeks rewatching the 4 series and 2 special. Great stuff!
Donkey shite pal 👍, much appreciated.
😁👌Good man ... so many fans just stop watching at series 2. Proper fans watch the lot.
All the series of auf wiedershen pet have brought so much joy to so many people. I remember watching series 1 and 2 when they were first aired . How the world has changed . I love all the characters and the story lines and see these locations now . Thanks for a great video and for letting me know there's others who love this iconic program .
👍😁👍😁... absolutely agree 💯,, awp has always been there for so many of us . And some people would probably say "it's only a TV show"".... but its not just a TV show to us is it. For those who don't "get it", they never will, but for thousands of us fans , awp lives on. And hopefully something big will be arranged for next year,, the 40th anniversary. Iv spoken with Tim Healy and Stan Hey and they agree something big should happen so what this space. In the meantime, donkey shite pal for watching my little location video ,,, I think iv done 7 upto now ,, with 1 more I'm working on and that's more or less all the UK locations covered. Danke,, much appreciated 👍😁
Cant believe Barrys Van resurrected! amazing well done!
Well , its a nice van , but it IS A REPLICA. Even tho the owner tried to spin a story that it is actually Barry's van. Upon closer inspection and consulting a Bedford van expert who is in the awp Facebook groups, it turns out that THIS van is a 6cwt, where as Barry's van was a 10cwt. , plus other subtle differences, the steering wheel is different even tho the owner says he's not changed it,,, seats,, same ,, . As I understand it the owner has been showing it at classic car shows recently, and is still sticking to his story that this is the original van from the show. I think we all just have to accept that Barry's van was scrapped many years ago. 😔
Hi Daniel
Thanks for the update, to be fair to the guy he,s done a great job at copying Barrys Van, it certainly made me smile , I really liked your Videos on here, I have also visted Garys grave in Welshpool on several occasions, a couple of times when passing through after working in Wales and once at the weekend on a day out thing, the Raven Pub just down the road does great food too and Welshpool is a nice town for an amble . I called at Pat Roachs Grave too several years ago he,s down at Bromsgrove cemetery, its nice how the family put "Auf wiedersehen Pat" on the stone. Anyway glad theres still plenty of enthusiasm about the Auf pet I,ve always loved the series , the actors and the writing just worked perfect! all the best mate. Martyn.
@@martynhamer3044 aww definitely a great little van , and no doubt he spent a lot of time and money on it., and we appreciated him letting us see it and get pictures. Iv not been to bombers grave yet .... the wife rolls her eyes everytime I suggest a road trip . And yep , there's still a massive following of awp . And talking with Tim Healy and lesley saint John about it , they are humbled that everyone still loves the show , and them.. 😁👌
fantastic! love these location vids!
Brilliant Daniel!! Loved the series so much, wish we could go back in time to those Friday nights in the 80s which for me, were the best series 1 and 2. Thx for sharing.
LOVE THE T SHIRT. ' DO YOU WANNA COME BACK TO OUR HUT? PMSL' FUNNY AS
Brilliant !!
Absolute gem of a posting, love it ! , Lesley is so so beautiful, thank you :-)
😁👍... donkey shite pal 👍.. and yes I feel very lucky to av met lesley... she's genuinely a lovely lass.👌
Excellent .. you have certainly done your homework tracking those locations down
Thanks ... bit of fun innit. I'm working on another video yet to finish, but need to get out there and track down a few more before I can post it.
Top work sir!......The best TV programme Britain ever made 👍......tho porridge runs it close.
Thanks .... bit of fun innit. Iv got another video coming soon with some new locations . Porridge close because its same writers 👍😁
Brilliant!!!!!
Interesting video there and that was good getting memorabilia signed from Lesley and Tim,Daniel.
EastEnders Albert square, when it originally started was the location for the beko building site from series one...so I hear anyway... coincidentally also in EastEnders there was a club called the Dagmar....who was also a character in AWP series 1
Always loved the program but I don't know who doesn't love it great video really enjoyed it
Donkey shite pal 👍 😁
@@daniellancaster4419 love all the fantastic dialogue 👍
@@cjcadventures its fantastic script writing,,, Clement and La Franais are absolute geniuses. But Sadly In todays society many of the quotes and gags aren't appreciated in the P C world🤷♂️
@@daniellancaster4419 very true
Just found your channel, you have obviously put a lot of work into this. excellent !
😁👍... thanks .. much appreciated. Yeah its a lot of miles, time, and effort .... but its a lot of fun , and I love sharing my travels with everyone. 😁👌
Another great vlog mate
Donkey shite pal .... and danke for your help 😁👍
Fantastic show. I lived in borehamwood ( near elstree studios ) for a while and I know a couple of shots were filmed there. (In the opening titles where bomber gets on a bus and Neville is looking in a job centre window. )
Only found out after I had left. Thanks for posting.
Excellent stuff... Good man ,, thanks for watching my video. Yeah there were a few other scenes nearby too at Bushy... the church where oz met Wayne to find out what happened to hedley , and mable hiltons house. Both are on 1 of my other videos. Glad you like . Donkey shite pal 👍 🤣
howay the lads mon......nice videos there dan
Donkey shite pal 😁. 👍. Bit of fun innit.
I just watched you throwing fish out of a stream :D
Lol... we had a lot of fun that day .... before we got caught by that bloke .... the gggame keeper 🤣
Lesley Saint John is my grandmother
Gorgeous lady
Seriously..?...Nice 1. 😁👍 she is a lovely lass
With the film 30 seconds in did they move the monument where the red Jag drove off?
Thank you very much for doing what you've done it's bought a lot of memories back and wish I live that way to visit these places...
I will someday...
Oi oi what's the word then... yeah that monument has been moved to the top of Bigg Market, so it's still in the area. And those public toilets you see, it's like a glass hexagonal dome Shape on the Pedestrianised area, that's now a trendy wine cocktail bar 🍹 🍸 😀 . Donkey shite pal for kind words there. Much appreciated 👍
That isn't the original Van is it from the show?
No offence but I used to know people with them years ago they rotted away years ago.
Dedication to a much loved and appreciating audience of a great show.
Correct ... the van is a replica, altho the chap who owns it tried to pull wool over our eyes and made out it was Barry's actual van. Its a great van tho all the same, and obviously with the plates on it , looks great ,,, but just to confirm, this is not Barry's actual van from the series.
Like the Bedford HA van
It's great innit 👍😁. The owner spend about 10 years doing it up. The number plate he was lucky to av bought separately of course cos the van in the show was not the actual plate of that van. It's all been put together very nicely. The owner said he will be taking it on the road to classic cars shows around the country in the future. He took us for a ride in it .... it gans champion. 😁👍
fANTASTIC MATE, LOADS OF EFFORT GONE IN TO THIS, I AM GUTTED THAT MY 24/7 CHANNEL BROADCASTS HAVE VANISHED ..... CAN'T WATCH IT NOW😪
Thanks Richard,, much appreciated 👍. Iv no idea really of streaming services to watch awp, but iv heard that new 1 ITVX ,or BritBox do the job,,, failing that , dig out the old dvds... or vhs if you've got summat to play em on 🤣😁👌
Wow I thought I was a fan of the show until I just checked out a few of your videos, I guess you’ve been to many of these places where the show was filmed??
I’m from Buxton in Derbyshire, I think some were filmed near us.
Thanks for watching ,and checking out my other vids. Yes iv covered and been to most of the UK locations,. Iv done 6, and im part way thru making a 7th video but still a few more to do before I put it together.
The locations near you would be Trout stream at Youlgreave, Falklands scene which is near Rowsley and there a road between Birchover and stanton in the Peak.
Excellent work.
Was Barry’s van the original, it looked mint.?
The van was a very nice replica. We were led to believe it to be the original, however there are too many unanswered questions to confirm if it was actually the van that Barry drove.
Yeah sorry for late reply,, the owner did a great job on the van. The number plate was bought separately, it became available so he got it on retention then put it on this van when he'd done the restoration.
Was the number just made up for tv or was it an actual HA van plate?
As I understand it, Barry's on screen van they used was a 1980 W reg van. I believe non of the vehicles used in filming used their own number plates. Iv no idea if AEA 735T was on a Bedford van back in the day or if it was just a random plate . All I know is that the owner of the replica van in my video purchased the AEA 735T plate from dvla and had it put on this replica of Barry's van . Its a very complicated story with some unanswered questions as the owner of this replica is still telling people its the actual 1 from the show ..... it isn't. It is a very well refurbished replica and obviously made super special with the plate. I Hope iv helped answering the question
Thanks for replying. Looks awesome to have Barry's plate on it. Thought it was unlikely to be original as the mot check say a 1981 van and even for one of these to be in the state that the one in the programe was at 4 ish years old would be pushing it. Bet it draws a lot of attention.Do you know if the Daimler or the VW survived?
@garethkeri apparently they bashed it about a bit for the show . Some people say they saw it driving round Nottingham after filming had finished, and for some years until it no doubt met its demise. As for the other vehicles .... we can only assume they've all met their maker at the scrap yard in the sky. 🤷♂️. And thank you for viewing my videos . Iv got another in the making but getting thin on UK material to add to it. As for Germany Spain and maybe Arizona ,,,, I'm gonna leave those for someone else. I know my mate Steve Turner has done all the Spanish locations and he tells me he's hopefully doing Germany next year. Ta ra for a bit
Is it the actual van? The number appears to match.
Its a long story , and I wish I could say it is the actual van used in series 2 , and the owner maintained it was,, but there are too many unanswered questions, and a Bedford van expert has taken a look at our photos, and it turns out Barry's van was a 10cwt ,, this 1 is a 6cwt. Totally different. The number plate was bought separately.
Hey ya get aboot yee lad 👍
Bit of fun innit 👍
Hi Daniel I,m not great at Technology think I might have replied to my own reply (rolls eyes) but it is below under your reply. Thanks Martyn,
It's OK,,, I'm same,, I just fumble my way thru too 🤷♂️ ,, this is the tragedy of my area , it is full of men like me who have no place in the techno world. 🤣👍.
@@daniellancaster4419 Hi Daniel I can certainly relate to that from her indoors, ha ha, I,m pretty sure I,ve got a picture or two of Bombers grave stone if you want one just send me an e mail and I will try and dig it out and forward it on I,ve also got a couple of Garys too infact last time we called the red T shirt was still on there so was probably shortly after your visit.
@@martynhamer3044 🤣🤣👍... donkey shite pal, that's a very kind offer of bombers photos, but a pal of mine ,, yes he's my pal , pal ,, he got a few and sent em to us. But I shall at some point make it across myself . I was quite surprised my red awp shirt stayed as long as it did at garys grave ... I assumed cemetery wardens would shift it sharpish but I think it was there for a few months . Iv still got a bit more location material to get together before I post what I think will be a final UK locations compilation, and it will include ally Frasers uk house ,, then I will have to look at going international,,,, Germany, Spain .
@@daniellancaster4419 I,m seriously impressed with your tenacity Daniel , marvelous , I visited Thailand before the Covid thing happend , went mainly to see the war graves along with the odd Temple and a days Jungle trekking, was great really, anyway I managed to snap a few pictures of the Hotel the lads filmed in along with the Australian Embassay which I think was a knocking shop actually but hadnt changed much at all, the guys at the Auf pet site put them up under the filming locations for the Special, yeah I would like to see the Bar in Dussledorf along with a few other nice landmarks over the water Ta Ra for a bit as Barry would say! .
@@martynhamer3044 😁👍😁👍😁donkey shite pal 👍.... bit of fun innit. Wow that was some trip you had. I had someone trying to convince me that the embassy building in the opening scene of "the special " where the bin lorry smashes thru the wall ,,, was filmed at a police sports club near London. I'm not convinced it was as nothing matched up . It makes more sense its filmed where you've been 👍
Do you own Barry’s van ?
No I dont . I managed to track the owner of this van down . It's a very good replica. There were Too many technical questions left unanswered to confirm whether or not this was Barry's actual van. But it's very nice all the same.
Daniel Lancaster that’s still a great find tho 👍🏼
The chap that owns it says he will be taking it to classic car show events,,,, when everything's back to normal ehh
It would be nice to think it is the original van, I plan to go to some of the locations myself, but living in north Wales cant do much at the moment.

Aye video no. 6 ...no. 7 is still in progress 👌😁
