That would be hilarious. Personally I would go with either James Mason or Peter Cushing's voice. But since I don't really need my stupid phone talking to me, the point is moot.
Seth, a number of years ago I came across a VHS tape of an early 70s xxx film that I would swear was contained Marilu. I still have the tape somewhere but the quality is so degraded now.
So many great scenes in this absolutely hilarious show, solidly in my top ten best TV comedies ever! One of my favorites is when the cabbies are talking in the garage and in walks Reverend Jim- Alex: Jim, where were you? Jim: I don't work weekends. Alex: Jim, you were gone nine days! Jim: Oh, I thought we were on the metric system! Such a great show! Few shows come close to being as consistently funny as Taxi!
It was great when he answered the phone from the Miami Dolphins for a pro football player working in the garage as he was waiting for another chance. "Who shall I say is calling? The Miami Dolphins? I'm talking to a fish!"
My favorite Jim Ignatowski scene is the one where he is a totally straight college student and his roommates are all getting high. He tries it and instantly becomes the "Jim" persona we all know.
Back when broadcast TV was still a thing, a new UHF station opened up in my area. To get viewers, they broadcast all these old Taxi and M*A*S*H shows after school, just before supper. I LOVED Taxi and Jim always got the biggest laughs in my house.
I loved this scene. I wish they had let it go on. She asks one more question, everyone turns to Jim, he looks up and says "You went to the well one too many times"!
I actually did a similar experiment at work one day. At AM coffee break some topic was brought up, I deliberately took an opposing view and quoted a bunch of made up facts from books and documentaries I supposedly read and seen. I had most of the crew believing my BS. I contribute the success of my influence to the passion and commitment I expressed while sharing the horseshit. It was a very interesting endeavor.
Actually, he started playing London Bridge Is Falling Down and kept messing it up, and then he launches into a beautiful classical performance. Midway through, he stopped and said "Must have had music lessons"
Nah, doubt that would have worked. You can take one character out of the band, but one can't take the band out the character. Even Iggy without the Stooges didn't work out that well...
This Show was Written and Acted so VERY well and stands as the complete prototype of the greatness of "Cheers" and "Frasier" yet to come!😂🤣😂🎤🚖⚾️👨🎓👩🎓📺B.W.
Steve Conkey He was also in The Dream Team, and I wish I could that movie because he's such a cut up. The only reason I haven't seen it is because my mom is a prude when it comes to movies and didn't think the part where another actor was supposedly naked was appropriate for me to watch even though you couldn't see anything and naked males don't do anything for me.
Ahhh Iggy 😂 my favorite character. I'd love to see a new sitcom called Grandpa Iggy. Jim inherited all his dad's money and has his grandkids living at his mansion and he's running his Dad's corporation with foolish decisions that always seem to work...
@@zemetrius I don't know, not sure what they would be offended by- he doesn't glorify drug use unless I'm forgetting something. If anything I think they'd try to be offended by Latka, but ultimately not have a leg to stand on as he wasn't targeting a specific race and was just vaguely European-y. Also, funnily enough, I feel like Latka came the closest to glorifying drugs with his cookies, lol. Still not enough to get the show "cancelled" I don't think, but maybe the closest.
Good old Jim was my favorite character on this show. Sometimes I wonder if "Jim" and my alter-ego are related, or, as Jim would say, "Oh'oh'ohkie-dokey!"
The story was told by this actor how he got this part years ago in an interview. He had been hanging out at the Comedy Store looking for a gig when he was told by one of his fellow comedians that a producer was looking for some people to audition for parts in a new show in development. He virtually was homeless, hadn't slept in days and was living in his clothes! He complained he didn't have a car and wouldn't be able to get to the producer's house in the hills. He got someone to loan him a car for the audition and nervous, tired, hungry and dirty he walked into the house and started talking and the producer thought he dressed for the part! Gave him the job and "Jim" was born ..lol
Einstein said pretty much the same thing, in an address to the Princeton Board of Trustees on the occasion of the endowment of an Emeritus Chair of Theoretical Physics. 1951, I think, or maybe 1952.
I know a guy like him. He’s an alcoholic. He’s so far gone, it’s unreal. He’s a good guy though, I suppose. Lol. Never got out of the bar life. Sad but true.
The funniest thing is that he never loses that 'completely befuddled' look through the whole thing.
i think he almost lost in the last part.
When Jim came into Taxi , he made the show take off! He was ABSOLUTELY awesome!!
Agreed.

Marilyn Henner & Jennifer Aniston both knew the power of a tight sweater.

Funniest part is DeVito turning his back in the background because he can't keep a straight face.
The best Jim episode is where he plays piano at Elaine's party. "I must've had lessons!" Lmao
Classic!

I hate all American comedies except Taxi and Mash. I agreed with your comment.

At the end I think Henner is struggling with it, conaway hides his face once and judd is struggling as well.

An example of a perfect punchline. This short scene should be required viewing for anyone writing comedy sketches.

One of the greatest characters in TV history. Along with Latka Gravas (tank you veddy much).
And to this day, if you were to ask Marilu how far it is from Rio to NY, she could tell you. Christopher, maybe not.
At the time this episode was filmed, the Brazilian money was called the cruzeiro. It is now (since 1994) called the real ( ree-al).
And then, when Elaine asks Alex a third question and she and Alex turn to Jim ... "You went to the well once too often."
One of the all time great tv characters , played by one of the all time great comic actors.
