- This is five makeovers in one video, two Camper Vans and three Caravans. This was quite the challenge as I only gave myself 48 hours to complete all the steps from stripping the paint to detailing the hubcaps.
Also spent half a day designing a 3D interior for one of the caravans, which I hope you will find interesting. It took 30 minutes to print one, and I had multiple failures which took a huge chunk out of my time schedule.

I have a soft spot for the old VW van. When I was fresh out of high school I worked as a courier for a large business in my home town. They gave me a VW van and all day I'd drive packages around between offices. The best part of it was that I got to take the van home at night and on weekends for my own use. All my friends loved it, and it was a blast to drive around town. The one I drove was white on the top and dark green on the bottom, which happened to be the exact colors of the company (Federated Co-op) in Western Canada. I remember the vans were so nimble and fun to drive. Would love to have one now in my old age.
I’m led to believe the games of ‘hide the sausage’ and ‘who can drink the most beer’ often go hand in hand.
Great restorations! Would love to see more old VWs being made over.
The best part of the restoration is reproducing broken or missing parts....patience and perseverance....I'm happy with that. Best wishes from Kauai!

It was a surprise to me that; Marty had just 2 Matchbox toy cars, go through a serious makeover. In spite of the fact that, the toy trailer was the wrong color.

Back in my youth I had a '65 Omni Bus with the sun top and all of the side top windows. It was VW Blue with white trim and bumpers. Made a lot of fantastic memories in that van. Brilliant job!

Well done. Those little added details on the caravette really make it stand out. The edge of the caravan / camper awning is probably scalloped, Bunting would be gathered into that shape. The table and couch /sofa / chesterfield in the caravan would both convert to beds here in the up above. Would probably sleep 4 humans or 4 dozen Kevin's. My Missus complains about putting on one pair of tights. I'd never hear the end of it if she had to put on two pair. Thanks again. Narragansett Bay

Good work. The details on the Caravette came out particularly well. The "bunting" is probably a drop down curtain on the caravan. Marty "I can't do this anymore." Mrs. Makeover, unflustered "don't be silly." Hahaha

Super job on that replacement caravan interior. A friend of mine who's big into that scene likes to say that once you have a 3D printer, every problem in your life becomes one to be solved with a 3D printer. :)
The couches probably did fold down in the real-life equivalent--that's a pretty common thing in campers, particularly ones that don't have a pop-out, or (as in this case) come from before the pop-out was invented. Have to maximize that limited space, y'know.

Idea on the VW doors, install base first then insert upper door tab and flex base down a little, snap door in then repeat with other door.
Two tone cream over red, black or sky blue would be great on the van!

Brilliant restos! Love the use of 3D printing. I noticed the print lifting from the build plate. If you are using ABS, you can prevent the lift by dropping a bit of acetone around the border as the raft is being printed. It will cause the ABS to bond to the holes in the build plate. Still comes off easily enough.
