This Barbie doll uses the vintage face sculpt and body with the standard 5 points of articulation. The 1959 Barbie dolls had holes in the bottom of their feet and stands with prongs. The gold dress is based on the vintage 1962 Fashion Pak dress - 'Belle'. This doll is plastic. Silkstone Barbie dolls are heavy and feel like porcelain. Bill Greening designed this doll especially for vintage collectors who love acquiring accessories for their diorama displays!
I love this doll set. her vintage face, the box is really nice. Why is she so expensive? I just pre ordered the 12 days of spring. It was 265.00 Canadian dollars. I can't wait to get her. Love your content. New subbie here!
So this is not a silkstone doll. Silkstones are much heavier and are meant to mimic the way porcelain looks and feels. I highly recommend holding a silkstone doll if you’ve never held one :) It’s a great first experience for people just getting into Barbie collecting! I’m also rather new to collecting Barbie, I started summer of 2022. Also the peg stand that her feet fit into is replicating how the original first Barbie to come out in 1959 stands. This dolls concept is inspired by the vintage 60s Barbie, which is why she has the nostalgia face mold and 5 points of articulation. Enjoying you’re videos! I am also a costume design grad!
Thanks for the info! have a few Barbies in the Silkstone material but I haven't taken any out of the box. Maybe I will one day. Also yay costume design!
Barbie and Ken are like Andrea Dworkin and her husband. Both of them were gay, but they just loved each other as soulmates with absolutely no sexual attraction. Like ultimate bestie vibes. That's Barbie and Ken.
The holiday themed Barbie I'm eyeing right now is the mpn 19218 Winter Evening Barbie. Only downside is that from the looks of the deboxed pictures the skirt doesn't have underlayers to keep its shape.
Haha! I work as a stylist and costume designer and people ask me about my doll collecting and I always explain it as basically dolls are the best models ever.
@@dollthighs Yes! I mean a doll has never said to me, "Uhm I don't think my character would wear a two-tiered antique birdcage with tiny taxidermied finches in it on her head...I mean it's The Crucible." Or had a director say, "Yeah we cannot insure anyone to wear eight inch platforms while doing Shakespeare in an abandoned iron ore factory..."
@Roo Devon Kilgore Omg please. 🤣🤣🤣 you're giving me flash backs to this time I was fitting an actress who was a size 6, but the suit we ordered was from amazon and had the tags sewn in wrong so even though the measurements were actually a size 6, she threw a fit and wouldn't wear it because the tag said size 8. You're reminding me why I quit costume design. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ooo real velvet you hate not velour? That’s amazing how we are all different as I love velvet because of how it feels. You have an amazing collection and yes I agree the red dress ❤
Thank you! Also, yeah, I've always cringed when I have to touch velvet. Lol, any sort of short or medium pile fabric gives me chills to touch regardless of the fibers it's made from.

Thank you for the info! I appreciate it a lot. I'm still learning about the collector Barbies.
@@dollthighs You're welcome! As a vintage Barbie doll collector, I've answered many questions from beginner collectors!

Ooooh, she's so gorgeous. I always want to buy Holiday Barbies but I usually skip them. 😆

SO TRUE! They don't complain and they don't have to breathe. Easiest fittings imaginable. 🤣🤣

Hmmm - I think it is a gouge to the wallet... there are only 12 days of Christmas for 160.00
🤣🤣🤣
Iconic
Lol thanks. I try.
If you want the camera to focus on something in your hand, you need to cover all faces. The camera's look for a face!
👁👄👁
Yes, an olde time Toy Store in NY and was in the Movie Big with Tom Hanks when he playing on a flat piano o the floor.
Omg! It's that place?? That makes so much sense. 😆 thank you for clarifying.
I think gold label means that it's no fewer the 20,000 made that's what it says on the back of the box of my Bowie Barbie.
Thanks! Yeah, I think that's currently what it means.
The Bob Mackie Holiday Angel was 100.00 and given the overall quality, I felt like that one was worth it.
I almost bought her! I ended up skipping her in the end but she did look gorgeous.
After I found out Barbie and Ken were named after a sister and brother I haven’t thought of them being in a heterosexual relationship either 😆💗
11:18 Yeah, Earring Magic Ken? Animal Lovin' Ken with an ascot…he is gay. GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY 🤣😘🙌🏼
