    Does a horse need this shaving if they live in a hot climate? It sounds like you’re saying because it’s cold and they have fur they can sweat and shiver which can make them sick. I’m not a horse owner or know very much about caring for them. I just know I love horses, ever since I’ve enjoyed many trail rides.

      The horse has its thick winter coat in this video. During the cold weather, riders shave their horses so that their fur dries fast after riding (because it is often a workout for the horse that makes them sweat). If a horse stays wet for too long in cold weather they can go into shock and get very sick, or even die.

    • @MasterclipUK
      @MasterclipUK  Před 3 lety

      Hello, please understand that clipping does not hurt the horse in any way. Its just like us getting a hair cut. The hair on the horse's body is clipped short to reduce sweating which can cause a horse to chill in cold weather and then become ill. So owners clip their horses as a preventative measure for the health and welfare of their horse. When the horse is not in work, the owner will use a rug or blanket to keep them warm. This video is from the UK and this is very usual practice here. I hope this helps.

    • @MasterclipUK
      @MasterclipUK  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello, we always recommend having at least 2 pairs of blades when clipping. Blades must be oiled regularly, ever 3-5 minutes during clipping to keep them well lubricated and reduce friction leading to heat generation. Excess heat in the blades can be caused by the tension being too tight and the type and cleanliness of the coat. When a lot of clipping is needed, we recommend using the Andis 5-in-1spray which can immediately cool blades so there is no need to take a break. I hope this helps.

      When you ride or work a horse with thick winter fur they overheat and get very sweaty. It’s like us doing a workout or going for a run wearing a heavy winter coat. It’s very uncomfortable. It just allows the horse to continue working in the winter months and a rug is used as a replacement to keep warm when they’re in the pasture.
