Angel has always been top tier IMO. it's just, in my experience, most people never bother to figure her out since she is so weird in terms of move execution compared to... well, basically any other KOF character
Shes crazy but its hard to get in if the oponent look for the gaps or crossup

In Texas Showdown tournament, Silent played Angel and just *stomped* everything in his path... up until he faced Reynald and Reynald went like "Angel doesn't get to play now or ever"
I think she lacks of good combo that starts from crouching light kick.
I don't get why, but I find her easier to use than K'.
She is not top tier, as a matter of fact she is pretty weak. The only strong thing about her is her combos. Most of her chain link mix ups can be interrupted by pokes, her normals are really bad and she has no wake up options except her super. She feels strong when you're not familiar with her and can take you by surprise but against an experienced played she is not reliable.
Angel will keep getting buffed until Max pronounces her name right.
And when he finally does, she'll get buffed, literally.
That'll happen about the time he pronounces 'Garou' right.
In other words, Angel's gonna get buffed forever.
Was a joy to watch this live. The Angel player got someone to rage quit when max took a break lol.

... my roommate and I throw down in this every so often, but neither of us really know the system or any combos very well, so we're just using basic FG fundamentals and his are usually better than mine. He comes from a long line of Street Fighter games where normals and pokes are the go-to. And while these two games are NOTHING alike, one thing for sure is that he has the normals and poke game DOWN. I was never good at that. Even worse, Angel's normals are horrendous, so I was getting beat out of everything. She was the easiest opponent for him.
... and I always left her as my anchor like she was gonna make all the difference... lol. All he needed to do was beat the first two and Angel would be the cake walk.
... but that was then.
... NOW, a few months into the game, we face each other... and he DREADS my Angel now. Openly expresses to me that he doesn't even WANT to fight her and that he doesn't want me going back into the training room with her... lol.
... honestly, after all the times he thrashed my poor Angel, it feels good to see my hard work come to fruition... that she now strikes fear in him.
... and I haven't even touched a fraction of her speed and potential. Problem is she's too damn fast for my hands that even I, the player have a hard time keeping up with her.
... bottom line is... Angel is a long hard road. But when you've braved enough of it... the results are worth it. She is now deserving of the Anchor position, although, I am told Angel players don't really need to use bars and should be put on point/spear whatever they call it.

i love to hear people learning her. Shes very fast and the most insane thing i always forget is just aout everything she can whiff and unchain/ circle Cancel or special cancel.
i recently just realized her CD can be special dash cancelled even if its not even close to a hit (whiff) Which then sets up the high low anti air game GIVING her a nuetral. the prob with her is she plays so unlike every other character in the game.
I guess i really like her becuase i was good at tekken before KOF. Shes alot like stance chars like lars in tekken 6-7 and Lei wulon and lee chaolon. I think her weakness is too many options your brain is limited?
As far as feels too fast for the player. I actually agree. her biggest weakness to me is she doesnt have any safe block strings at all. I wish they make a small frame count adjustment to on block unchains.
But we will see. Im glad you picked up angel and i would DEFINANTLY move her to point personally. SHe is soooo violent with next to no meter.
She can do 50% damage with no meter. Shes litterally an all or nothing character play style which fits her character to a T.
In the hands of a great player she is a NIGHTMARE, she needs no bar to do HEAVY damage and is sooo hard to read, especially in a game like KoF that moves really fast

... Angel was always on my radar since, what was it, KOF XI I think...?
... that was when I really started to notice her. Touched her once and was like WHOA. NO. NOT RIGHT NOW.
... her appeal to me back then was her VA. She had the weirdest cat-like voice and mannerisms. And cat girls are my biggest weakness, as you probably notice in my profile picture. Further more, Her People's Elbow was another appeal for me since I am a huge fan of Dwayne Johnson as he was hands down my favorite wrestler in the industry. Furthermore, to know that she was actually based on and inspired by The Rock, made me like her even more.

... honestly, didn't see it happening so soon. But her model in this game is nearly flawless. She looks down right amazing from head to toe. In 14, she was a slim thing all over, which was still fine for me, but in 15, they did every proportion justice. I just couldn't ignore her charm this time.
... as for her voice, I believe I read she isn't voiced by the same VA as the older 2D Angels, but the current VA we have right now has done a fantastic job. I can't even complain.
... that said, I do miss some of her older moves and that includes The People's Elbow. It really was the most electrifying move in KOF.
... I have watched several tournament players to see what options are optimal/safe when engaging the enemy and tried my best to adopt those habits in order to close out more openings. And I found that sometimes, cutting a blocked string very early, allows you to MAKE the move safe because the opponent doesn't expect you to stop so early. You won't always get away with that of course, so you just have to choose the most weirdest times to drop the string. Couple that strategy with her Unchained Step for a really unpredictabo set up.

Angel needs a lot of practice but when someone is good with her she becomes "El angel de los combos "

I just recently learned that Angel is actually pronounced Ahn-hehl. Cuz of course, she's Mexican. No idea why this never crossed my mind.

One thing that just came to me as I watched this: KoF has the coolest grapplers. Blue Mary? Clark? Angel? Even the typical big muscle wrestler guy in KoF has more panache than the Streetfighter wrestlers.
There are shoot fighters in wrestling that are more focused on strikes than grappling
Vice is also really cool but she is not in XV
Angel is the definition of a character in a fighting game where if you take the time to learn them then you will be rewarded. She has always been strong to really strong but her execution made it so that many didn't play her. Plus Angel is so fun to watch as well
except is not, you get rewarded with 180 damage off of her block mixups at best, the only way she gets her big damage in is at a big jump in, lets say you get the combo from the block low/high mixup ans you get her 180damage ok cool now the neutral is reset at least some characters get an oki off of their low damage combos but angel you gotta win neutral a ton and thats is not easy cuz poor buttons, ok run speed, bad 2b 2a starter combo from lows cuz she can only combo from up close , the ONLY thing shes got is j.C and some other gimmicky stuff witch you guess it it resets neutral for 100dmg, so having only jump C for neutral makes her extremly predictable you can contested her in the air (cuz she got slow moves for air to airs), theres not much beyond that theres not much room to "master" her since she lacks basic good tools
Monster? she's a one touch demon. I can make toast and get water by the time Angel's combos end.🤣

she has a nutral its just not a traditional neutral. She just plays so differently from what anyone is used to they think she has no nuetral.

@@kingsman5121 look up players like coldman and tn tarah. Tarah beat the NLBC multi week and former evo champ Reynald a few times. I will say it takes some learning but angel has better tools than most people think. Especially now her dash command grab is SUPER hard to punish and the spin goes much further. ALso her jab actually anti airs now.

@@kingsman5121 i agree i just hate people saying she has no neutral. Its actually pretty decent for how much damage she does. Its just you have to play much more differently than any other character. i think they would make her perfect if they gave her EX st command grab less frames you could use her st elbow as a frame trap and her EX command grab as a block string mix.

Edit: Just to add a more meaningful comment, I think Angel is so interesting. Pretty much every character has lots of tools like DPs, Projectiles, and stuff like that and while Angel does have a couple tools, most of her’s are just ways to start or extend her Unchain combos. She IS the Unchain combos; if you can’t do them, she will be basically useless.
And I think it’s such an cool way to make her different from the other characters; they can spam projectiles, do small but hard hitting combos with lots of specials, or spam certain really good moves but her entire playstyle is “get in there by predicting what the enemy is gonna do or feint them out so you can react and start the combo, extend that shit as long as you can, then cash out and get ready to rush in and do it again”.
She's so weird to be honest. She almost feels out of place among the rest of the roster. I could never figure her out seeing her move list was always like
Unchain and then everything relying on wether you could land that first move. Always loved the NESTS fighters, but I always had to swap her out because I just couldn't use her.

Although King is my main (CvS2),this was my first KOF game I've played with intent. Angel was the first character I picked in training, and found out how savage her input style is! Doing combos in training is one thing, but trying them in a match is pretty......unreliable I guess. I'm just not good enough to play her yet lol

I heard one big KoF player say that Angel is really easy to beat if you can lab her out. It really dissuaded me from learning her, since he washed an Angel player as he said it. But maybe the buffs were actually good 🤷♀️

i consider angel about the most honest tier char there can be. If you dont know how to play her she sucks is hard to understand. The more you understand about her the better she gets. I dont thing she is OP by any means. Fire ball chars give her a really hard time.

Ángel is rushdown personified. And also blatant (and not unappreciated) sex appeal personified.
Well she made to appeal to Mexicans after snk lost a bet playing against Mexican game developers. No seriously that is how she was made in the first place and was made to be a part of Kula's team back then.

One could say that she is the Akira Yuki of KOF in a way.
Depends on what you find hard. She has the easiest execution in the game, but weak neutral and a lot of tools to memorize.
Angel isn't really that difficult, she's just playing a different game. It's a little bit like going from a traditional 2D fighter to a traditional 3D fighter, except you have to commit much faster to Angel's followups than you do in 3D fighters. And her attack strings aren't as baked in, she can be very freeform, but most Angel players narrow her strings down to a few optimal combinations for certain situations. Which again is not unlike 3D fighters, but you don't get as much time to think as you do in Tekken.
