Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through CZcams videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!

The Princess Diana joke is usually reference to her fatal crash, but in this context I believe it was referring to her vocal advocacy and campaigns against landmines.

The Nurburgring is a legendary racetrack in Germany, one of the most famous tracks in the world.
James hates it because lots of car manufacturers test and develop sporty cars to go round the Nurburgring, in doing so, they create a car with terrible, hard suspension which ruins the ride when you're on normal roads. He instantly hates any car that sayd it was developed on the Nurburgring, since it's almost certainly going to have been ruined and be terribly uncomfortable for normal road use.
I happen to agree with him on that.
Be fine if normal roads was decent quality but they often always rough
Pan-Am (Pan American Airways) was a US airline, one of the biggest in the world, and it operated from 1927 to 1991

Pan Am, otherwise known as Pan American was originally famous for its luxury. It went bankrupt in the early '90s I believe.

A growler is referring to a females genitalia. So when James said "I'm just going outside to wax the growler" he was alluding to a woman...erm....weeding her lady garden.
You need to watch the Top Gear challenge specials as they are amazing.
The funny bits and clips are ok but unless you watch full episodes or the specials you can’t fully appreciate the show.
Agree, full episodes are way better. My favourite is the 'Race to the North', S13 E1.

Oh gosh...the boys trying to make their own versions of trains may well be the funniest comedy bit ever done for a factual television program...in all of history. 😂😂💯💯✌✌
I drive massive excavators and it's so much fun, I'd definitely recommend to anyone to give it a go. I can do a few tricks like cutting a cucumber with a knife taped to the bucket thats 20 feet away from me.
While a lot of things are scripted and edited, there's not really much you can do when random silly things happen. I think that's why the show works. Not only is it because of the chemistry between the hosts. It also due to bizarre things happening that could never be scripted or planned.
These old episodes bring back memories- I used to watch the show tons back when I was younger with my parents.
This was season 17, when it was at its peak, before falling down then coming to an end. If you were still watching this series with your parents you're making me feel very old
@@kurtsudheim825 I still remember hearing the news about the OG trio leaving the show. Obviously what Clarkson did was stupid, but I was hoping that at least May and Hammond would stay on.
NO ONE has been able to replace those three on the newer seasons and their interactions. They had such an incredibly entertaining dynamic.
It wasn’t James May in the leathers, just a model that looked like him. It was from the 70’s so James was much younger than that model.
The car called the Growler was funny because in Britain it’s a euphemism for a woman’s really bushy downstairs😳 all the jokes like a ‘trimmed down version for the Brazilian market’ and ‘wax the growler’ was just to make the audience laugh.
English Muff for the most part is fantastic, but like Oysters, can make you suffer if you get a bad 'un!

The Met Life bldg in NYC used to be the headquarters of Pan Am and known as the Pan Am building. The company ceased operations in 1991, due to financial problems. Perhaps the not-so-young viewers will sadly remember Pan Am Flight 103, which on 21 December 1988 was destroyed mid-air by a terrorist bomb that had been planted on board. Large parts of the aircraft came down in a residential street in the Scottish town of Lockerbie, and so the event became known as the Lockerbie bombing. All 243 passengers, 16 crew, and 11 residents of the town died. In 2003, Muammar Gaddafi (the de facto leader of Libya from 1969 to 2011) accepted responsibility for the Lockerbie bombing and paid compensation to the families of the victims.

Do not worry, the Dresden Cathedral has been rebuilt since😍😍They filmed a new episode "Scandinavian Flick" also here in Finland a while ago. It is for the 5th Season of GT. But this show was/is the best ever, no matter if you are a "car guy" or not! Best Regards from Finland!

Pan Am - Pan American World Airways. Went out of business in 1991 and was the American Flag Carrier (largest airline in USA) for many years.
Not to be confused with Pam Ann who is a stand up comedian and former Cabin Crew whose comedy is based around the airline industry.

Spending that on a car... That's a house. where I live £600,000 could buy you a lot of houses . They areshit houses either. My town is very old got it's cash through mills .. A tiny town with a lot of protected buildings. Voted best preserved town. We only won that because all the council tax money and lotto cash doesn't go into preserving the town ... It looks preserved because nowts been done.
They are a great team , a pretty unique one . Top Gear has become an irrelevance since they left . These clips are a bit out of context but still funny , it would be better to concentrate on one challenge perhaps .
