    Hi there, awesome take!
    Although I'm familiar with planar technology in bigger cans, It's very interesting to hear your analysis of its implementation into iems, and spending some extra time to give it a decent frame before going in for comparison is great.
    A little nitpicky note - I would suggest referring to each set by name instead of "this" and "that" since sometimes people just listen to the audio of the review while working or doing something else, and can't se visual cues such a you pointing at sets with a finger. This would make it more useful to wider range of viewers/listeners.
    Thanks, and keep up to great work!

    Your description of the sound characteristics matches my experience (decades) of listening to Magnepan planar loudspeakers and more recently HifiMAN headphones. The thing I found that demonstrates the difference best is bowed double bass; you can hear the wood, the chest of the instrument, the delicious rasp and the nature of the strings like it's in the room. If you're not used to this it can sound like you've lost something, but when your ears get used to the reality, you realise you've actually gained a hell of a lot. I think this is down to the flat surface of the planar driver stopping instantly due to its lightness and the greater resistance of air due its larger surface area. This means you 'lose' the usual overshoot and time overhang of unwanted bass artefacts, which in turn means no complexity can overwhelm this type of reproduction and nothing is masked by the accurate bass. I will definitely be purchasing these. Thanks!

    I've spent closee to $3K chasing the ultimate planar IEM across differnent price brackets over the last 2 years. It started with the P1 which led me to oBravo Cupid, IMR EDP, IMR EDP and a host of others. I love the RAH but Timeless is without a question my favorite non hybrid Planar. This thing is remarkable. I've got about 80 hours on them and they are improving. Tip selection makes a huge difference with these; they like Wide Bore tips, but my favorite on these after much experimentation is the Tennmak Strong Foams.

    • @HowardOlsen
      @HowardOlsen Před 2 lety +2

      @@psysword for me, the cupids are a c, the timeless is an A. The treble always came across as veiled and muted to me. They had more bass than the P1 but I was quite disappoi Ted with them. The timeless give more bass I quantity and texture and far, ore upper register detail. I also found the timber and tonality off on the cupids but I am recalling from more than a year old memory

    Man, amazing review, sub! I have exactly same experience with the Timeless. Maybe its because we have the same daps:) But seriously, my way more expensive iems and headphones are in boxes since i received the Timeless. IBasso IT07, Beyerdynamic Xelento, Focal Radiance dont give me this specific feeling of music like these planars. My best pairing with my dx312EXN was IT07- great detail, staging, holography, bass response etc. But when i plug the Timeless, there is a freshness, realism, natural, effortless detail and what you described and other reviewers failed to mention- natural reverbs. They are so engaging and musical, while still having great amount of detail.

    I'd like to point out the importance of using the right tips. Foam tips provide not only a good seal and isolation but what I can only refer to as an insulating property. It not only is very important to the 7hz Timeless but for every single IEM I own. I used to just use whatever came with my IEMs but I've found that after more than a couple dozen sets that using Foams always improves the sound I get from any IEM. If they're just bad that of course comes through as well but it still improves the sound to the best that the IEM can provide. I use a mix of Comply, Dekoni and the Blue Marshmallows of Joy Linsoul Foams that are packaged with the Tin T2s. Amazon now carries those Blue Foams from Linsoul and for $9.99 you get 3 sets. The only negative is they only come in medium but I've found with Foam Tips unless you have extremely large or super small ear canals medium will fit and be comfortable as long as they are quality foam and not hard or to soft/porous. I haven't tried the new hybrid that's basically silicone filled with a foam inner part, if anyone has I'd be curious to know what they thought of them?
    Sorry for the TLDR but I wish I could get more people to try good foam tips because they really do make a world of difference any IEM with everything from stage to how the IEM sounds...

    Thanks for this interesting review ,I’m one of the people who bought the P1 when it got released ,and I totally agree with you that its impressive in performance as compared with its price .as you said it needs a lot of power to shine .but I would like to mention few notes about the P1 ,I did tried it with my 2 DAP’s ,the pioneer XDP-300 and the FIIO M11 pro ,as well I tried it with my desktop AMPs /DAC’s ,IFI black label micro , schiit audio jotunheim with multibit DAC ,topping DX7 Pro ,SMSL SU-8 with SMSL SP200 , geshelli labs ENOG-2 with Drop THX 789 .and I found it really perform the best with the pioneer DAP XDP-300 ,though it’s the least power among my arsenal .so I think its not about the power of the amp as much as impedance or the amp stage circuit type .that’s why I had to keep that specific DAP to combine it with the P1 .looking forward for your comparison between the timeless and the P1

    Fantastic review, I’m glad I found your channel. I would agree with one of the comments below, as a totally blind person, this and this when pointing at different headphones doesn’t really work for me, but I recognise I’m in the minority. However, audio is one of those areas where I can actually enjoy all of it without anyone else’s intervention. I’m trying to find things to maximise my enjoyment of music again after kind of falling out of love with it after training to be a recording engineer. I have successfully transferred my skills to radio production and, I’m looking at producing a new music program. So looking to put together a few different sets of in ears and headphones to give me as good at listening experience as possible.
    My first player was a Sony Walkman, I could still see at the time and I remember it being quite a bright red. I used to crank it quite loud and listen on the headphones that came with it to meatloaf’s bat out of hell to. First got into mini disk with and MZR 70, again Sony. And yes, stock earphones again! Spent most of my adult life using Bayer dynamic headphones either DT250 80 om or DT770 80 Om. for studio stuff both music and radio. And just because they were there, to listen to music as well.
    So, you could say I’m on a bit of a voyage of discovery. Would welcome any suggestions anyone has for anything they think I should try.

I like a natural, but warm sound with slight bass emphasis and vocals that don’t sound thin (I have the moondrop starfield and Fiio FA9). If you don't mind I have a couple of questions. How do these iems reproduce vocals? I'll explain. I used Dan Clark Aeon 2 closed-back headphones so the voices sounded like a step or two behind you and it was a problem to me cause I prefer vocals one or two steps in front of you. So what about 7hz Timeless?
    I listen to a lot of CZcams, podcasts and tv shows so my main priority is to hear natural, clear, well-articulated and pleasant voices without any sibilance. Would you tell me please if 7hz Timeless is my cup of tea? Or maybe there is some iems better for my priority? Budget is not a problem up to $500.

      As an owner of the 7hz and someone who uses them for what you're wanting to do with them I can say they're excellent. They work very well for vocals or just listening to someone talk. They're excellent for watching movies as well and of course they punch well above their price point for just listening to music whether for fun and just enjoying it or critical listening. They're also above average for multimedia use, crystal clear and easy to understand what's being said. I would advise though that you use Foam Tips with them for the best result be they Comply, Dekoni or the Blue Ones from Linsoul that come with the Tin T2's that can be bought separately on Amazon for $9.99 for 3 sets. I've found that for most IEMs if you're using anything but good quality Foams you're probably not getting everything you can from them. Isolation and Seal as well as insulating the sound is so very important with any IEM that it can make the difference between loving or hating a set.
      Best of luck and the short answer is the 7hz are excellent for their price and well above it for all things listening...

      @AudioLevels  Před 2 lety +1

      False, but ill play 😂
      What is as close to the original as possible? How did it sound in real life? How does it sound in the studio? How does it sound when the artist approves a master after listening to a compressed master on his phone speaker? What is what was intended? This is an old argument one that has been beaten to death. Linear is what you are looking for then grab an 02 DAC/Amp and a set XR4SR and be done.... great for monitoring... boring as all get out to listen to hehe
      Its the whole reason why high-end loudspeaker and headphone manufacturers have their own target curves based on what the end consumer enjoys listening to. Peoples tastes vary depending on lots of factors, age, exposure, geography, and different IEM's, Headphones and Speakers tuning is altered to accommodate that.

      @@AudioLevels well, it seems that the typical diffused field target curve followed by etymotic and others is not so unmusical to many audiophiles, if you compare it with the Harman target curve (which more and more headphones seem to comply with, including the timeless). The Harman target basically adds a bass boost to the diffused field target curve.

    • @AudioLevels

      @@mobbaddictchannel Ther are reasons why those ettymotics etc are favoured by those that seek a flat tuning and a reason the offer and XR version.if that's musical to them then it is, to me as an ety user for 20 odd years they are definitely not what I pick up for that prupose. Theres also 4 harmon targets the last time I check, not sure the split between on ear and over ear but they keep differing. Then their are other curves companies produce to cater to taste. None are more audiophile than the other. ER4 can sound good to me at the right time and so can a Mammoth etc. Different strokes.
