It should be easy, if it looks like a singer is in pain they’re just straining their voice, or being extremely extra so it looks like they’re really reaching for a note for an audience reaction. (Just a fun fact I guess)

@@mr0scary Google isn’t always accurate - I’m friends with a few people who have met Marc, and they say he’s a slim 6’2” - 6’3”. Freddie was 5’9”.
Marc is not short. He’s 6’2”.
(part2) The track and my voice were both coming through speakers which were facing me, but low enough in volume so as not to bleed through or feedback. The mic did actually pick up a tiny bit of ambient sound. If you compare this to the original you might notice a very slight extra "roominess". SM58s are so directional that this was negligible. Since the vocal was recorded onto its own separate track, w added a little EQ, compression, stereo slap delay and verb to it, and voilà!

This is the guy who provided a lot of backing vocals for the Bohemian Rhapsody movie. He's been downplayed in some reports as "an imitator," which is so insulting. I love that Rami Malek is mentioning Marc by name in interviews. Marc is an incredible artist in his own right.

(part1) Geek alert! Thought I'd write a little FAQ on how we recorded this video (as well as my brother David's). What you are hearing is what we were actually singing in the video. There was no splicing together of different takes or lip-syncing. Here's how we did it: in Pro Tools we added a short click track count-in before the song so we'd know where the song started (which we removed in the final mix).

To be fair, Marc was singing along to a backing track for this audition video.

(part3) The guitar is truly played in both videos, but not recorded because it would just sound messy with a second acoustic guitar in the track.
Another trick we did was add the audio from the iPhone (which recorded the video) into the intro and end of the audition so you could actually hear the footsteps and room verb after the songs ends. The mic picked up so little ambiance that it sounded too dry and "fake" without the extra iPhone audio. Dave's video shows this better. There ya go!

Roger and I have seen literally thousands of singers in our lifetimes including some great ones auditioning for our We Will Rock You show (which, did I mention, ran for 12 solid years in The Dominion Theatre on the Tottenham Court Road in London?) but we’ve never seen or heard anything like Adam. I always think that Freddie, with a wicked smile, would say something like “I hate you, Madam Lambert,” because even Freddie would have been gobsmacked at his range and his ability to reinterpret these songs which the four of us originally created together.
