@@milesdevine1161 I guess you don't live in the states but you could've guessed olive garden is a restaurant and his roommate works there based on this video talking about not wearing all black unless you want to be a mistaken for a waitor.
Ah, my people! All black is work attire... and the ask black with "pop of colour" is every choir I've ever sung in over the course of a long career. LONG career!
The red tie also makes it look like you're in a mid 2000s pop punk band that's made it big enough to hire a music video stylist, but not big enough to hire a good one
the red tie just makes me think of the many many many many *many* holiday performances I've been in as a musician that required all black with a "red accent"
The all-black formal look is also what the expectation was for my late Grandpa's funeral, so my bf combined the black dress shirt with a black tie, pants, and shoes. I bought him the jacket, which he generally didn't take off, so it worked.
Thats why I go for black dress shirts that have a bit of texture or a pattern that is also another shade of black. It is subtle but it avoids the waiter look and breaks up the solid black to make it look more interesting.
Cream/ash pants, black dress shirt with sleeves rolled up. If you have the forearms and the chest, it works. Trust me. A couple necklaces and a watch and you’re golden, or, well, black. Works wonders.
I showed up to my first school dance we had to dress up for with black pant, black shirt, magenta tie. Fit was fire because I was like 13 and the only guy who actually stood out.
I think my favorite combo to wear when I’m at the office is a black dress shirt and non-black, usually patterned trousers. It’s always a winning look for me.
Best I can do is a t-shirt and jeans. Love your content, cool to see fashionable people dress fashionably, even if it’s not relevant to my particular style/life.
I love that he doesn’t tell u the brands and how much everything cost. Just simple explanation of what types of pieces work no shilling designers down our throat
Damn. you’re so good. I didn’t watch the reel all the way through at first, I was eyeing that beautiful mossy green jacket in the back. Would love to see how that’s styled in darker tones. Adore your videos and the kindness and elegance with which you teach those who wish to know.
All black formal is literally one of my favorites.. I usually add a vest to make it a 3 piece; accessorize with a silver pocket watch and ring and it just feels so good👌🏼
Wearing a black shirt with an extremely subtle pattern or a bit of texture can also help to give just enough to make it seem like a choice rather than a uniform, but I'm also of the opinion that wearing any tie with a black dress shirt in any situation comes across as costumey.
Ive been a sucker for black on black with silver accents, tie, pocket square, cufflinks, watch beltbuckle, black/silver vest if im being real formal with it. But yea my go to is a silver or grey shirt as they go with most, then i got the pastels to give something visually distinct
Wind ensemble/orchestra musicians wear all black suits for the majority of the concerts we perform. I’m generally speaking about my experience with western classical music culture, I’m not familiar with anything outside of that.
Ohhhhhhhh this actually gives me really good ideas for my story because I have a character who is upper crust who prefers all back and him taking layers off helps him become inconspicuous.
I'll do a black dress shirt under a colored or patterned sweater but I'm bit on the dress shirt under sweater look. It's my go-to business casual outfit
This is super helpful because I bought my concert black clothes recently and so those are all great ideas! Grey probably was the best one, as long as I don't look like a waiter without the jacket haha.
Tried explaining this to my roommate who literally won’t stop wearing his Olive Garden clothes out
Hehe i would too. No matter what it looks like formal clothes are formal clothes and theyre mighty uncomfy sometimes but im a sucker for them 😂
Probably better than anything else they would wear
@@alexever17 trust me it isn’t 😂😂
@@justinkeizer2386 what even are olive garden clothes?
@@milesdevine1161 I guess you don't live in the states but you could've guessed olive garden is a restaurant and his roommate works there based on this video talking about not wearing all black unless you want to be a mistaken for a waitor.
The red tie reminds me of Green Day and My Chemical Romance 😂❤
IN THE BEST WAY
It’s giving… Gerard 😮
Was looking for this comment😢
Happy to have other emos who thought the same 😂
@@EClaire.1073which way gerard way or mikey way
For me, as a musician, a black button down shirt screams concert night, and I love it. Half of what I wear is just black shirts.
I was feeling this, I have friends that even skip the shoes if they're in back or we're in the pit for opera or something, comfort trumps fashion
Ah, my people! All black is work attire... and the ask black with "pop of colour" is every choir I've ever sung in over the course of a long career. LONG career!
Yes, this is exactly what I was thinking!!!!
Exactly!
The *"gway"* outfit was amazing!
The red tie also makes it look like you're in a mid 2000s pop punk band that's made it big enough to hire a music video stylist, but not big enough to hire a good one
MCR did several concerts in just all black and a red tie one of their music videos has that attire 😂
I graduated in 2006 and this is 100% of the reason why guys dressed like this for the ball
@@nechma13 oh my god, yes, I'm pretty sure this was their look for Helena. Pretty sure Billy Joe Armstrong wore it too with Green Day

mid 2000s music was the best of all time. 15 of my favorite albums were released in 2005
the moment he put that red tie on i waLK A LONELY ROAD, THE ONLY ONE THAT I HAVE EVER KNOWN

Amen!
Same here, gotta love black monochrome
As a man we hate women with little boys hair cuts
Mommy I'm scared
Truth! The polka dot tie was perfect
the red tie just makes me think of the many many many many *many* holiday performances I've been in as a musician that required all black with a "red accent"
I love this! I like any art supply that has portability in mind
"... Since it's 2004 and it just came out" hahahaha
I’m not immune to the 2004 Gerard Way all black red tie 😭 it’s just gotta be the right tie I swear it can work !
Yeah that tie is too bright. Definitely need a darker red.
Darker and slimmer tie would be perfect
@@IceX92 yep, that’s what I do. More of a deep red than and bright red and thinner tie
Our guy Gerard Way, can never not be cool.

Gway is a new color
Gway is just a pigment of our imagination. Like bleen and gurple. (For those who know part of that quote, hat off to you lol)
That Shrek 2 reference lol! Never change Parker!
You look good in black. With your skin tone and hair. Makes you look young.

The red tie 😅 i could hear the MCR music in my head when i saw it.

It's still perfect today

I adore all black outfits with a single pop of a bright color. It's my favorite combo. Not for everyone, but it looks so nice to me.
The counting crows in the background was a nice touch
The opening song of Shrek 2, which came out in 2004.
"Prom 2004"
This is so accurate that it gave me a crippling flashback.
Black goes with anything so it is a very useful general base
I think my favorite combo to wear when I’m at the office is a black dress shirt and non-black, usually patterned trousers. It’s always a winning look for me.
Black shirt red tie was def what we wore for our middle school band concert😂
Ive started really loving a black dress shirt under a sweater/jumper in a light colour. Really makes me wear my beige sweater more often
Sometimes I like a partially black, partially colored tie with my all-black formal outfits.
Best I can do is a t-shirt and jeans. Love your content, cool to see fashionable people dress fashionably, even if it’s not relevant to my particular style/life.
Oh! The green suit! My favourite made an appearance!
I felt personally attacked lol. I wore the all black and red neck tie to my high school prom. And I loved Shrek back then as well. smh
I’m so glad you found it. With your complexion and hair you look absolutely fantastic in all black. Love the tie and socks!!!

As a 2004 grad I’m absolutely disgusted …at how true this is.
You got me into try monochromes and all black. Love from Sri Lanka.
Black dress shirt and light grey v neck sweater is a nice combo for something a little more casual
That first outfit looks surprisingly sharp! I wasn't expecting that!
all black outfits are killer, although i do have to disagree with the tie thing. it works if youre Gerard Way or Billie Joe Armstrong

Black dress shirt also works with dark denim trousers. Leather blazer completes the look beautifully.

Thats crazy! Black dress shirt is classic. Looks good with everything.

I've seen a few celebrities in sheer black shirts under a black suit and it's stunning.

Do you know who also wore black shirts and got their name by their black shirts?
Oh the second look reminds me subtly of how Ray Liotta was styled for Goodfellas!
Ohhhhhhhh this actually gives me really good ideas for my story because I have a character who is upper crust who prefers all back and him taking layers off helps him become inconspicuous.
Black and red is like my favorite color combo though, thought that outfit looked awesome with the red tie.
you look really good in the all-black outfit
god the black dress shirt, pants and red tie is spot on.
I love the black shìrt with the olive green and the two tone shoes! I love pops of color!
I like the second look ☺️
Dressing formal, semi formal and casual with the avengers colors ❤
Like Rage and Love, the pop punk/emo black shirt + red tie combo is legendary and immortal.
In the first outfit, you could swap the black shirt for a white shirt and have the agent 47 fit
This dude on that green suit looks fire 🔥🔥
In band in middle and high school , for our concerts we wore all black. We called it concert black. It does work
Black shirts look sooo good though! Especially wirh a tie and not fully buttoned up 👀
Great looks!
The green suit was amazing❤ 👏🏾
God these outfits were amazing. I wish I could look this good in black.
You are exactly the guy I needed to learn styling myself. Thanks man!
i like wearing a black shirt with blue jeans as a casual outfit since the shirt makes it look put together but not as formal as a light one
Its my preferred color shirts on guys, it looks chique
Ugh I love that all black outfit
I love doing all black suits!
I'll do a black dress shirt under a colored or patterned sweater but I'm bit on the dress shirt under sweater look. It's my go-to business casual outfit
It also works with a kilt of any tartan pared with black kilt hose. It's a less formal way to wear a kilt and looks classic.
The red tie is my favorite
With black leather jacket, dark jeans and boots. That punk rock vibe
Nice touch having “Accidentally in Love” from Shrek 2 in the background.
Love the grey suit + black shirt combo
As a theater and choir kid, all-black dress shirts are forever associated with band kids on concert days and techies
The grey suit looked really good
The way I instantly flashbacked to my emo days with green day, P!ATD and MCR when the red tie showed up speaks volumes about it
