  • In this video we visited Wat Arun, also known as the 'Temple of Dawn' which is one of the most famous temples in Bangkok located on the Chao Phraya river.
The temple is open from 8am - 6pm & entry costs 100 THB per person. There are various ways you can get to Wat Arun but we decided to take the MRT & walk 900 metres (10 minutes) from MRT station Itsaraphap.
Wat Arun, meaning "Temple of the Dawn," is named after the god Aruna, God of Dawn. We'd recommend visiting late in the afternoon so you can see the temple lit up at night & watch the sun go down from the other side of the Chao Phraya river.

Original ceramic decorations on pagodas were recycled from waste chinaware fragments exquisitely chipped into shapes centuries ago.
Sadly they are falling off after years and years in the sun and rain and are being replaced by factory made pieces, obviously because people nowadays are not as patient as the ancients.
