We have a local gym and 2 months ago we added a new gym rule that prohibits cameras and recording equipment from being used in the gym. This was mainly due to female members complaining that men were being inappropriate by filming them and the ladies said it made them uncomfortable. Since the rule was implemented, we have had 26 membership cancellations...ALL female. When a member cancels, they can fill out a form which asks why the membership is being cancelled. 85% of the given reasons was because of the no pictures/recording rule. A few of the feedbacks had the audacity to state that the request for no pictures/recording should only be applied to men in the gym.
However, we will be keeping the the rule since we have now gotten 38 new memberships .. ALL male, which, even counting the lost 26 memberships, has been a higher monthly membership gain than we have had in the past 4 years. Not a single complaint regarding the rule has been given from any of the male members. We have also now increased operational hours to 24 hours a day due to requests - we used to close at midnight and open at 7 am. Best business decision we have ever made.

i say it constantly. if women really cared about feeling safe, they owuld find a gym wiith a sectioned off womens area. this is an old invention that has been here since i was a kid. time to use it ladies, if you are all really that worried.
let me give you a hint; they are not. personally i had to start using the downstairs section of the gym because at floor level there were windows to the outside, big ones, and women walking past on the street would STARE at you as they pass and it made me really uncomfortable to have strangers look at me that way when i was just working out. i would think women, claiming to be in the societal position they are, would know better than to stare at a stranger working out.

My gym is great. Haven’t seen women like this. Most of the women that dress all sexy want to be looked at, and most of the people taking videos are young males, that don’t even look like they workout, recording themselves.😂😂

I used to belong to a men-only gym in southern CA. A bunch of women sued the gym. They won and were allowed to join. Now, since this gym was originally male only, the gym only had a SINGLE locker room. After the lawsuit, the gym had to close for 6 months so they could renovate. During the six months the gym lost 70% of their membership. Within a year it went out of business. Great job ladies.
Great job to the judge who sentenced the gym to accept women... The legal system is the wrong one in that case.

@@wnose Our gym was men-only until a couple women whined, complained, and took the gym to court. The court said to let them in, which promptly put the gym out of business.

Saw a female at the gym complain to one of the employees about being looked at. The employee said
"no worries, I'll take care of it." He walked over to her camera and yelled at it " how dare you act like that. You and anyone with you are banned." He then made her and her camera leave.

i am wondering why people go half naked or in very tight clothing that is revealing their silhouette? a little bit much larger clothes are more comfortable and allow more air flow and ventilation space between skin and clothing preventing sweating too much. i understand some people were insinuating sometimes, but we cannot ignore that some women were stalked, followed and sexually harassed in the past. another reason why men are perceived as more dangerous is since they have more physical means they could use offensively. a male could rape a female regardless of her being repulsed and turned off, but a female cannot rape a male if he is not interested, an unaroused male genitalia is not prepared for intercourse. males are somehow physically privileged and more dangerous

As an individual, I've stopped going to gyms and workout at home because I'm not a fan of the way most people behave, both men and women. I convinced 10 to 15 kids from my high-school(flip phone days) to get up and go hike to the top of this mountain an hour away at 2am so that we could watch the sun rise over literally the rest of the named mountains in our state as well as a few in another state

Imagine going to the gym thinking you're going to get in a good workout only to find out the next morning some random chick is going viral online for saying you were staring at her when you didn't even notice her
Not only that, but can you imagine if your friend is like lifting weights or doing a good workout next to the girl or a few spots next to her and so you are just glancing in that general direction to see what your buddy is upto? There are many reasons to look at someone, some of these older men might literally be thinking "wow shes putting up some impressive weight, i couldnt do that!" I know that is not always the case, but clearly it happens some times.

What i find unique is the patience AND tolerance of the men that weren't quick to report these females recording. These men gave these females their freedom to record at the expense of their own privacy to workout without being recorded. This is what makes men an awesome breed and makes me proud to be one of them!
As a female - I also check out people around me, obviously I try not to stare but its a public place, were all adults were allowed to look wherever we want. It’s so funny how the ones who are so bothered by others glancing - are the ones who are dressed in the tightest and smallest workout clothes possible. I am fit myself, but I don’t like to show myself almost naked for everyone to see especially while sweating and working out. Yeah I am glad this comment came from a woman but I was going to make it too, I have made it in a few videos since it needs to be said. It's a very unpopular opinion but it's soo true. Even men who wear stringers (just actually learned the word for that from this video) is the equivalent, it's an ego, proud gain moment, show off which is fine as long as you know that is what it's for. Men will tell you straight up that's why they wear those gym clothes. Women say they need, baggy sweats give you the same range of motion as the revealing leggings, I would argue they give you more haha. Anyways, yeah unpopular opinion. I don't even wear regular gym bro clothes, just a t-shirt and shorts. I don't want any extra attention. Sometimes I wear religious shirts and people come up and talk to me about the shirt and faith, so that's cool. But that is an easy fix, just stick to a marvel gym shirt if that's the case but that type of attention and conversation is what I am targeting when I wear a shirt like that which is exactly the same thing these women do when wearing the gym clothes that they do. Half naked, leaving nothing to the imagination - could you imagine how distracting that could be. And now the worry over being on social media, trying to make men live in fear. Yeah no, you wear that you get a glance bc peripheral vision. I usually look at guys at the gym haha. We have a guy that puts up massive squat and deadlift and it is quite impressive and inspiring. Or I'll learn a new workout. I think the gym culture for the most part is fairly safe, I even saw a woman go up and give a guy some pointers on his squat and he was an older gentleman. But it's the one that film and TikTok, it's just a plague.

As an experienced gym user of 14 years, its at a point now where even when I see young women/ teens in there, who are trying a certain lift or machine, and getting it sometimes dangerously wrong, I just do nothing.
I know I'm a good person, and I just clearly dont want someone to put themselves at risk, but I dont say anything out of fear of being accused of being some kind of creep, or that I'm hitting on them.
Its bizarre. There may well be lots of young women who would really appreciate the help/ advice from more experienced gym users, male or female (because that's the only intention I'd ever have) but I'll never know because I wont take the risk, thanks to the type of toxic people in this video. The risk of someone getting hurt should outweigh any fear of being accused of that, but in this day and age it doesn't.
Notice that this type of nonsense happens in America. I go to my local gym in Lithuania, and this kind of mindset just doesn't exist. Men and women go to the gym just to work out and mind their own business. Never has there been a situation that someone is accused of being a creep.

Has happened to me, I would take rests from the cable machine and face the wall with my phone, strict. This girl would be 3 meters away from me off the smith machine. I used to be intimidated by gyms when I was in my mid-late teens but they're seriously some of the most supportive environments.
Whenever I've needed help it's always the super chill guys who look like they could tear a phone book in half who were super helpful and supportive. I even had one guy come up to me at random just to say "Hey man, I've noticed you in here regularly and noticed the progress you've made, and just wanted to say you should be proud of sticking it out."
Fuck anyone who puts a person off from going to the gym and trying to better themselves, especially when it's obvious e-thottery just for internet clout; it doesn't matter if they're going for the world squat record or they're 100lbs over weight and sweating on the treadmill at its lowest setting, anyone looking to improve themselves deserves to be shown respect and courtesy.

This is why I stick with my local CrossFit gym - I've been a member for over six years. I do the last workout class of the day - usually, there's only two or three of us there, we all know each other - coaches & members alike, and we get along. I absolutely refuse to use the large -chain type gyms.
The one with the women doing a squat asking for help and the guy in the background throwing the dumb bell around doing a little dance was hilarious.

I've started to see gyms make "no recording" rules just because of crap like this. One of the gyms in my area has large signs hanging in multiple areas warning people that their membership will be revoked if they even try.
Hope to see that become more common.

When I was a kid back in the early 70s, most Gyms were male only and women actually sued to be let into them as their argument was that it violated their rights to equal access. Now.. we should revisit the idea of separate Gyms for men and women. I wonder which gym would do better $$ wise?? Also, what would happen if men stopped going to Gyms altogether and worked out at home? leaving only women going to Vent fitness, Gold's, Planet fitness etc..

The really sad thing about all of this is that there really is a popular CZcamsr that's blind. And he was harassed by a female gym goer claiming that he was staring at her ass as she was working out. He explained to her that he's blind and she didn't believe him and caused a whole scene over nothing. And as we as men all know she was never reprimanded for the trouble she caused.

I set off the lunk alarm at planet fitness so many times. Sometimes for grunting it out and for wearing sleeveless shirts. However, the women would walk around with most of their bits peaking out and were never asked to change.
I started going to this place called Iron 24/7 and it was cool. Unfortunately that place had to close during the lockdowns.
Now I do improvised workouts in my backyard. No one recording for TikTok, no one complaining about me yelling when I have to. I know not everyone has that door open if they live in the city. To them I advise finding a weight room gym and not a fitness center.
Yesterday this sh1t happened to me. Best thing is to not generalize. Many women enjoy to make eye contact and get into small talk whoch happened to me the same day, too ^^ don't allow those narc girls to destroy your self- consciousness or your game. Remember the particular narc girl and avoid her.
I am an older dude (60) who hits the gym just to try and hold off Father Time. These girls think THEY get stared at, try being an "old" guy. Men AND women all stare at me like I have antennas growing out my head like I am invading "their" gym. Wearing mirror glasses and a "party till you puke" tee shirt probably doesn't help.

I'm a lifter. My favorite moment was when I first started lifting. I'm 5"7" and at the time I was 120 pounds. I remember a group (4) of powerlifters next to me watching me as I setup to deadlift 200 pounds. When I successfully lifted it, they all clapped for me and then continued with their workouts. It's the moment that really made me fall in love with lifting. About a month prior to this, a man asked if he could give me some pointers on my deadlifting form. I gladly accepted. Another guy asked if he could work in with me when I was doing squats because there were only 2 squat racks. I agreed and he complimented my form and stated: "Nice work! You were going ass to grass! You could probably do even more weight!"
Another guy noticed my Army bag and asked about if I served and once we discussed that, he became my spotter for arms that day.
None of these times did I film or complain after on social media. I actually felt happy that these guys respected me as a lifter and were willing to help. Even the times when dudes clearly have been flirting, I simply either thanked them for their compliments or ignored them in a few cases and continued my workout.
I don't dress in the bare minimum when I go to the gym either 😂 it's a well known fact that your hormones fluctuate when you workout and people become more attractive to you, so one would assume if you are a female in tight form fitting gym clothing at the gym surrounded by straight men... You're going to get some looks. Just do your workout. Chances are these dudes wouldn't give you a second glance outside of the gym 🤷🏿♀️

Exactly! Very well said. I'm a male, been lifting for 20+ years. I can't count the number of times I've watched people (both male and female) do their lift while I'm in between sets. And it works both ways, I've had people watch me doing a set. It's just something to do while you're waiting for your next set to begin lol.

I've been working out in Gyms for 45 years. Never ever have I needed to record myself working out. WHY do you do it!? And in those 45 years, I've looked at women, they've looked at me... we have actually conversed and nobody had a meltdown. Women, the only advice I can give you is to quit wearing clothing that's going to get eye attention. Males are VERY visually oriented. They are going to look, it's in their nature. But that doesn't mean they want what they are looking at. I look at a dozen creme field donuts because they look good. But I don't want to have them and don't desire them. Grow up.
