  • Hebo invented the modern wrought iron machine and is the worldwide leader in this field. The multi-functional Hebo system can: Twist, endforge, scroll, emboss, texture, hammer tube, make baskets, and press belly pickets, and much more. The Hebo system is designed and built by German blacksmiths for the ornamental iron industry. This is the same machinery worldwide parts suppliers use. The Hebo system will bring new levels of production and creativity to the Ornamental Iron Fabricator. Visit our website for your free full length DVD, at www.usahebo.com or www.drivewaygates.com

      As an autistic automation-freak, I much enjoyed this vid too, even tho the machine itself to me, is producing things that can only be sold when a trend is set and still holding, and that's a little too narrow for my taste when it comes to offering products to the world, but that's only because I'm into selling consumables more than I'm into selling durables. :)

      Take a metal paper clip and bend it back and forth vigorously about 20 times. Feel how warm it is. Now imagine bending something largeer and not supposed to be bent and imagine the heat it creates. The opposite is true and you see it in traditional blacksmithing. Heat metal up and it becomes pliable.

    Having all these technology and power, and still make things that is oldfashion...
    Is it really THAT difficult to implement a new tech to a medium? It can twist and turn, embed, even cold forge, and yet, not a step forward in terms of creating a desing. EVERYTHING they make, looks, utterly regular.
    I wonder when they will start to create something that will make us go, "Oh, how did you make that?". To me, that's when tools get truly useful, even at the engineering level: Why would engineer a machine that can do what humans do? Old designs were like that because going further would cost more in terms of human power and time, but why would do the same things, when unthought of is still out there.

    • @snak3822
      @snak3822 Před 9 lety +3

      Ever tried to bend iron like this machine does? (with your own two hands) My father is a blacksmith and its not that easy, as you can see in the video ... the machines were meant to make the process more easy, faster and efficient ... and all respect goes to the old fashion way ... but its much cheaper ... to get those baskets from the shop than to make em' you can't bend 4 bars of iron at the same time with your hands and get the best result ... we could use a thing like this :D

    • @dhalihoka
      @dhalihoka Před 9 lety +4

      SNAK3
      You are absolutely right, it is very VERY difficult to do it by hand. But that's my whole point, these designs, twists and curls are just designed at the time because it was the best that a blacksmith could do with bare hands at the time. Now, I wonder why to make a machine that does the SAME job, instead of creating something that could do much more than products that "looks like it's made by humans". Having a machine that can copy human capabilities is just not enough. It's like making an oven and just bake white flour simple bread.

    • @seancoyote
      @seancoyote Před 9 lety +1

      Much of Iron work is to repair old iron work, and much of the demand for new iron work is to look classic. Naturally the machines that you see are there to make the most common demands. Artist still create different pieces that are not like anything else, but to make a machine that you want to sell, you need something that will appeal to the most people, and since the demand is the common bends and twists that you often see, that is what you see for sale. Naturally if you were an black smith with unique designs, you could have a machine made for your specific needs, but that is unlikely. You are likely if you do use a machine, to have one of the machines that makes easier some of aspects of your process, that doesn't look very fancy to you, but is actually impressive because of the time saving.

    • @dhalihoka
      @dhalihoka Před 9 lety

      seancoyote I know, I know... But you guys know what I mean, yeah? What you described is exactly what I'm talking about. I'm not saying this machine is not a money maker, but it's almost as dsyfunctional as pharma industry and or democracy, there is much better versions of what they're doing IS possible, but everything needs to be desinged from ground up, and some people just can't deal with the new. In this age, I just feel like we can do much better than just to be mere echoes of an old scream. I mean, this machine IS an invention, but it's as if the engineer doesn't know it is. What I mean is not particularly about this very machine, it's about how people's minds works stationary based on money makers. Blacksmithes in the beginning, they invented styles, shapes and merged them with functionality, or vice versa. Now here we are, the best machine is just capable of replicating that blacksmith's design by thousands. Once more, I think we can do much better, not by the quantity, but by the means of quality.

    • @jensmuller6503
      @jensmuller6503 Před 9 lety +2

      Dhali Hoka Well, you can't build a machine and ask her to invent a new design. Machines can't do anything but following orders or humans. So it's up to the humans to create other designs, not up to the machines. Do you have a new design on you mind? Than try out if others like it, too. Become architect or indoor architect. Make the Ted Mosby (oh my goodness, in a few years nowbody will know what I am talking about). Well just invent new designs if you dislike the old ones, but if you are waiting for a machine to invent something new you will have to wait a long time. :-D

      Or people who have an appreciation for technology, automation, engineering, physics, and things that require more than 2 brain cells (that is, more brain power than is needed for your "craft") to process.
