Lyrics:
Cherish, cherish
So tired of broken hearts and losing at this game
Before I start this dance
I take a chance in telling you
I want more than just romance
You are my destiny
I can't let go, baby, can't you see?
Cupid, please take your aim at me
Cherish the thought of always having you here by my side
Oh baby, I cherish the joy
You keep bringing it into my life
I'm always singing it, cherish the strength
You got the power to make me feel good
And baby, I perish the thought of ever leaving, I never would
I was never satisfied with casual encounters
I can't hide my need
For two hearts that bleed with burning love
That's the way it's got to be
Romeo and Juliet
They never felt this way I bet
So don't underestimate my point of view
Cherish the thought of always having you here by my side
Oh baby, I cherish the joy
You keep bringing it into my life
I'm always singing it, cherish the strength
You got the power to make me feel good
And baby, I perish the thought of ever leaving, I never would
Who? You! Can't get away, I won't let you
Who? You! I could never forget to
Cherish is the word I use to remind me of your love
You're givin' it
You're givin' it to me boy
Keep giving me all-all-all your joy
Give me faith
I will always cherish you
Romeo and Juliet
They never felt this way I bet
So don't underestimate my point of view
Who? You! Can't get away, I won't let you
Who? You! I could never forget to
Cherish is the word I use to remind me of your love
Cherish the thought of always having you here by my side
Oh baby, I cherish the joy
You keep bringing it into my life
I'm always singing it, cherish your strength

And baby, I perish the thought of ever leaving, I never would
Cherish
Give me faith
Give me joy, my boy
I will always cherish you
Give me faith
Give me joy, my boy
I will always cherish you
Cherish your strength
(You're givin' it, you're givin' it to me boy)
(Can't get away, I won't let you)
Perish the thought
(You're givin' it, you're givin' it to me boy)
(I could never forget to)
Cherish the thought
(Give me faith, give me joy, my boy I will always cherish you)
Cherish the joy
(Give me faith, give me joy, my boy I will always cherish you)
Cherish your strength
(You're givin' it, you're givin' it to me boy, keep giving me all your joy)

Madonna is an inspiration to other artists. 😍😍😍
Madonna is just stunning in this video.
Hi Johnny 😘😇📻❤️💯
Agree, the best she looked in her entire career!!
Therefore I always love of this queen
Honestly the Madonna in this video is the most beautiful I've ever seen her. She is just captivating. And this amazing song....takes me right back to my youth. A simpler and more care-free time. Its 2023 but my heart will always beat in the 80s.
I agree 👍. She is beautiful in this video..The most beautiful I have seen her..❤
Me too Im inspired for her songs 4decades but still its fresh for me and her looks is charming
I know I also like Lucky Star and I just today realized I don't even know what her dancers face look like in the video I'm sure I've never looked at them
🎸🐐🔥♥️👍
@@user-fo9ri5dy7b The first time I saw Madonna on TV it was the video for Lucky Star. It definitely confirmed I am Hetrosexual 🙂
I can tell you the other dancers are a Black lady who gets one kick completely out of time and Madonna's brother. There again I bought her four track VHS tape back in 1984 so have watched it more than a few times.
An example of everything pure pop music can and should be. Simply joy.
such an underrated madonna song. the happy feel-good vibes are out of this world
I totally agree with you on that Joe. One of my favorite songs by Madonna especially in the late 80s. Miss the 80s Joe l was born in '81. 😊👋
I'm not a fan of Madonna but this one really rings awesome to me. One of my favorite songs ever.
Cute and innocent, shame she was & became so vulgar.
Listen to Van Halen, for some happy vibes.

This is definitely one of Madonna’s happiest songs. Love it so much! 💛💛💛
For me, one of Madonna's prettiest songs, I never get tired of listening.
Very his best one to me indeed...
So underrated 😍
Agree. It’s pure joy and lyrically perfect.
Yes, it sounds like what Motown would sound like in 1989.

She's so stunning in this video 😍
Yes. ❤
Herb Ritts was a GENIUS.
I think this was the most beautiful she has ever looked. Natural! And this hairstyle was amazing on her.
Kinda. Her hair is naturally dark brown.
What a knock out

The best times as a 14 year old boy and no responsibility
the most beautiful woman in the world
Im an artist and ill admit not a Madonna fan but this video is creative genius well done kudos to the creator beautiful work
This is one of Madonna’s finest vocal performances. The quick octave jumps at “Cupid, please take your aim at me” in the first verse and “so don’t underestimate my point of view” in the second are especially strong.
Years later, the training she received for the demands of singing in “Evita” really showed on that soundtrack and later albums. But she’d always been a more effective singer than many critics had given her credit for. The great job she did on “Holiday” is an example.
Her tone and emotional deleivery are unique.
Finally Enough Love is here to come. Her collection of 50 no.1 dance hits.
I've heard vocal stems from some of her True Blue sessions and she has some range and ability to command. Even on the Virgin Tour near the start of her career she could notate damn well for someone performing a dance routine! There were so many four-octave belters in the 80s we began to measure a 'good voice' by sheer intensity and slated Madonna as a triumph of manipulation over talent. Like The Beatles or Bowie, she trumped questions of ability by creative consistency.
Hey Jeff, HOLIDAY always brings a smile ... thanks for the reminder of some wonderful memories. CJx 8.18 am Wednesday, 28th September 2022
@@carolinegodden4364 Hey Caroline, 😃 you’re more than welcome!
I think this is one of Madonna's best songs and videos. She sings and performs so naturally, with confidence without overperformance. The video is also adorable. The melody, harmony, and overall sound of the song combined with the singing make this song just perfect.
It's so good! Song and video.
😢
Yup! This song has a feel of the 60s with that complete wholesome vibe like the songs from back then but it totally worked in 89 and the 90's. Obviously it's still bumpin in 2023
I don't know... there's something fishy about the video.

I have always thought Cherish is one of Madonna's best songs. Simply don't get it how someone could not like it...
Madonna doesn’t like it, but often artists have no clue about their output. It’s one of her best from her best era
you are so right, i agree
underrated tune, no one can't make a pop song like this today.

That's kind of strange, but true. Members of Led Zeppelin were often hyper-critical of their performances, when everyone else thought they were brilliant.

If I could go back in time , I’d go back to the 80s and the same age , was in my early 20s .. what a time to be alive as a young lad listening to Madonna amongst others ❤️

Idem....!
When Madonna asked Herb Ritts to direct this video, Herb responded "But I'm a still photographer. I don't know anything about film." Undaunted, Madonna replied simply, "Well you have a few weeks to learn."
That's the power of Madonna.

Madonna owned the 80's. love this song. it's peppy upbeat and just plain fun
Surely a pop juggernaut. But when she "owned" she was just sharing with others. Billy Joel, Prince, MJ, and Hall & Oates were right there.
Yeah, her munchkin-like voice is lovely in this song. Reminds me of another, with a similar voice: Jane Weidlin's 88' single Rush Hour. Water theme, too. Interesting. Both great tunes. 👍

This is the most natural Madonna imo
Whitney had a voice, Janet had some moves, Mariah has Christmas but Madonna is a master of melody. No one has come close to rival her sense of pop perfection
I agree about Madonna but the others are all MEEHHh to me apart from Whitney who was THE voice, Madonna respected her and Whitney was the only one who actually understood and respected Madonna, never Whitney said a bad word about Madonna either!
Agree. Madonna is an entertainer, visionary, an interruption in the music industry and plus her songs were perfect for the times as far as lyrics, and as you said, melody.
I was born with "Perfect Pitch". Mariah's pitch is impeccable, her range greater than radar, and the most pulchritudinous of all!
@@richardcogan7297 shall we agree that 1) you are talking about the past and 2) live performances say otherwise!?
Not starting an argument here, at this point I would feel ashamed to even try to argue about it. I'm saying that, personally, the young Whitney holds the perfect pitch, if you are looking for theLIVE whistle register then look at Ariana Grande. Yet, are we saying that Ariana Grande has a better voice than Whitney OR Mariah Carey!? I guess it's all subjective. BTW, The "Coloratura Sopranos* eat the whistle registers for breakfast 💔

I had Cherish, Material Girl, Crazy for You, & other Madonna songs on 45s I created my own playlist by changing records after each song.. It was such a wonderful time to be a teenager.
I would have put that on a cassette. Not that I don't miss getting my case of 45s and playing them. 45s may be gone but LPs are back. That's what I buy. problem is, I have to order them from either Amazon or Towerrecords.com
I still have practically all of her singles on 45s. Cherish was the last domestic 7" single with a picture sleeve as cassette singles then became the in-thing and any 7" single you may found comes with a generic blank sleeve.
