The pipe has to be high, but you could make the inner compartment deeper (and expand it horizontally) for more space. You might have to get a bigger tin sheet, and if you cant, only make it deeper.

I used to wonder, what happens if we bury two or three sections of 2 metre diameter RCP, cap each end, and have risers to a special manhole chamber? Being a hydraulic civil engineer, i was to design calculate, test etc large systems but obviously have never had access to heavy equipment like construction workers do other than in official work so it never happened.
