  • It's been a while since we've shared videos of the Orca and her many adventures at sea, but we have been working hard and making some big life decisions lately. We are excited to share some really big news...some is sad and some is going to be life-changing!

    Hi there! Love watching you video’s and good luck on your next adventure. We towed our 1992 Sea Ray 330 up to Anacortes last year and cruised the San Juan’s Islands and loved it .We are hoping to do it again this July, maybe you will be back on the water by then !

    About time you got a real boat.. Congrats! Now take that thing around the world!!!

    I grew up in the 40's and 50's, cruising the East Coast on Dad's 52' Wheeler.
    Your travels on "ORCA" were a wonderful experience for me.
    You live in a magnificent part of the world.
    Good luck with the new boat.
    I am looking forward to the new adventures.

    Just found your channel. Charming. Although you two took a different route than we did for cruising/voyaging, we understand going with a trawler and looked into that design before settling on what we now have.

    We were in your shoes last year - sold our 37 Sea Ray Amberjack and moved up to a 43 Bertram. So many shipwrecks out there. Take your time and find the right boat. We gutted our new to us Bertram and did a complete redo of the salon, staterooms, and head! But it took us over a year. Don't rush it!

    Living aboard and cruising in a long range trawler -- we couldn't think of a better life style! Enjoy the journey of looking for the right trawler. We are looking forward to watching your journey. Hopefully we can cross paths on the water at some point, either in Puget Sound, Alaska, Mexico or beyond.

      Melissa Hamilton thanks for the encouragement! We have lots of exciting news coming soon...accepted offer on a boat! Our hope is to live the dream aboard a trawler vs a sail boat which is most of what we see on other channels. Stay tuned for lots more videos...

    Hey happy to see you guys sold your Sundancer. Truth be told, I didn’t know at the time as I just recently (Jan 2018) found your channel that your boat was on our short list as we were looking to move up from our 260 Sundancer last year.
    You guys are moving in the same direction as we are but a few years ahead. We will follow your past journeys as we cruise the sound a bit more in the coming years before we make the move to our next boat which will be a long range cruiser. Hope to meet you guys out on the sound! Happy hunting!

    Glad your back and congrats on selling the Orca as selling a boat seems to be half the battle in a switch. Good luck on your search, we looked at 9 530's before we found ours. Let me know if you need a contact for an overland hauler, ironically I found one (boats) when trying to get a car shipped from Oklahoma. If you guys need a boat fix your always welcome to drive down to Portland :)

    Hi, you make the right decision on the Nordhaven. I looked at all the Selenes on Yaht World just now. None are true ocean passage making boats. the fuel supply is just too small. The 43' only carry 600gal. That wont get you 800nm in open water at 6knts. But I sure you know this. The real tell is the Diorna, a 53' Nordhaven. They used 2000gal to make 2048nm at 6.9knts. Any trawler thats a "real" passage maker in a 43, carries at least 1200gals! And like the Diorna, they added 3 blister tanks carrying another 1000gal to the 1700gal it carries.

      Agreed. Love Flemings... just a bit out of our $$$ range.

    • @roger9453
      @roger9453 Před 6 lety

      Don't know what your budget looks like - Flemings are beautiful and out of our price range too. Look at Tolly's, they are a nice blue water boat. I have been on this Tolly before we bought our Bertram. Really nice boat and is docked near ours. We would have considered it, but being in Southern Cali, the cost to slip it is just way out of our budget! www.stanmilleryachts.com/boat/1987/tollycraft/67-pilothouse/1161/

    Sad to see the Orca go, but excited to see you guys back and looking to change the adventuring up!
    I’m Jeff, and I’m a very big fan of your channel! I just moved aboard my Nordic Tug 32 next to the Ballard bridge and starting the living and long range lifestyle once some maintenance is done!
    If you need any good local contacts or are searching for answers that are hard to find, bounce them off of me, because I just went through the same process and I may know where to look for the answers!
    Drop me a line anytime at @jeffgassen on IG or other social media and @mvwhyknot on IG.
    Thinking good thoughts for you two on the search! Hopefully you find the perfect boat soon and we can do some cruising together this summer!

    Hi. Wishing you much success. This may be a silly question but what does the MV stand for in MV FREEDOM?

    • @mvfreedom
      @mvfreedom  Před 4 lety +1

      FMTFXE22 not silly at all! It stands for “motor vessel.” If you see SV that’s for “sailing vessel” so it’s a way for people to know we’re a power boat vs a sailboat.

    buying a home is definitely easier.
    You don't have to have a home pulled up off it's foundation, and a bank will lend you money on a home that is older than 10 years.
    Not to mention the insurance.
