TLDR: T16 can make tons of currency, scarabs can be used for profit AND fun in T16, and loot isn't dead. There are many problems in the game, but pretending that "loot, scarabs, and T16 are dead" is just plain wrong. Mechanics that don't have specific loot rewards need to be buffed, that does not mean loot is dead and your doomed to be poor. Watch the video before commenting or you're just as bad as brainless upvotes.

Now I can sell small quantities of things to get myself currency. First league in a long time I've had more than enough currency to do what I wanted to, actually buying Divs to buy larger upgrades or crafting. Best thing to ever happen to PoE.

Remember - a lot of complaints are in bad faith. I'm constantly reminded of the introduction of Fracturing Orbs. There was a HUGE buyout of fracturing orbs on day 2 or 3 of the league, and someone posted a massively upvoted thread just minutes after the buyout finished that they'd run 1000 Harbinger maps in Standard and that fracture shards were as rare as mirror shards.
The post was made for two reasons - to cash out on the fracture pump and dump, and to buy up Harbinger scarabs and sextants (remember those?) on the cheap. It worked, so it gets done over and over.
Same thing got done with Breach post rework. Buyup of breachstones, flagrant lies in a post, then resale of breachstones and a buyup of breach scarabs afterwards. Reminds me of when I played EVE Online (and used to do this sort of thing there)

The auction house is easily the biggest game changer GGG has implemented in my time with the game since I started in Sentinel. I used to never want to do smaller transactions because the amount of effort I'd have to go to to complete it on the trade site felt not worth it. Now all I have to do is click "I want", "I have", "place order", and the transaction is done in seconds. I had no idea how much currency I was leaving on the table early on in a league until now.

Ground loot does seem dead. I usually try cramming the most mobs I can into a map and just farming generic drops as an alch & go strat. This is usually quite viable from past experiences but this is the first time I can't even walk away from a T16 jungle valley with 20c in profit.
Try it for yourself and allocate:
Beyond + Ritual + Domination + Perma Delirium + Eldrich altars
and run the map with Domination on the map device. Raw drops will be abysmal.
    I've even tried adding:
    - scarab of haemophilia x2
    - scarab of monstrous lineage
    - scarab of the invasion
    - scarab of adversaries
I'm barely getting back the cost of the scarabs and they are 15c total. You can run some of these maps and not get a single chaos orb to drop.
Harvest is usually a safe farm but this league a scarab of doubling is 15c (last league it was 5c) which cuts pretty heavily into the profits.
At least Rog is incredibly pog with the scarcity of crafting mats.

    @SmokieWins Před měsícem +6

my experience this league has been that league-specific mechs are nerfed to the point of not really being the majority of currency generation unless you heavily invest into them with all the scarabs (which then creates the question if its worth doing this in non-t17's, considering scarab prices just keep rising higher). HOWEVER the base mapping still generates currency -> altars, scarabs and t17 drops. hence the popularity of "alch and go" this league. And i see more and more people outright building their atlas around this, basically just stacking quantity, map effect and scarab drops rather than investing into a specific league mechanic. personally i've been experimenting with low-investment strats like that and it's been working well, sitting on like 200div.

I had this argument with some friends in Discord about this, they said that you're priced out of farming T16 maps with certain scarabs because they are based off the T17 price but I tried to explain that just isn't true for the majority of scarabs. And while yes, there are some strats like the scarab printing one that are T17 exclusive, most farms can be done in T16 and still make a lot of money too. The goalpost ended up getting moved so far that the conclusion was, "it's not fair that you can make so much more money doing it in a T17 compared to a T16" it feels like there is no winning. I ran 9 T16s with Bestiary last night using Bestiary Scarab of the Herd, Bestiary Scarab of Duplicating, and a couple other random scarabs that didn't do much just for the sake of the "complete maps with 4 scarabs" challenge. None of the Bestiary scarabs cost more than 2c.
In those 9 maps, accounting for the duplicating, I found 2 Black Morrigans, 4 vivid vultures, 6 craicic chimerals, and a few other beasts worth 4-10c each. I sold 200 yellow beasts for 4 divines. I made almost 20 divines out of those 9 maps from about 20c worth of scarabs. And even at my slow pace, it probably only took me an hour or two to do those 9 maps.

Almost every boss made me 1 div in guaranteed loot or high drop rate loot worth multiple divines like forbidden gems or maven drops. People all league said bossing was dead because affliction juice was fhe only thing to do. I made 20 to 30 divs an hour experimenting with delve, bossing, boss rushing, and essence farming due to simple supply and demand. Anything that couldn't be formed in affliction juice was massively over priced due to low supply.
The economy is self balancing. Nobody seems to understand that on reddit. The total profit of all juices I sold(for suggested AH price instantly) was 349c, half of this comes from the doubling scarabs. 349/2=174c. profit from each 13c scarab is ((174-25c)/7)-13=8.3c!
Because my +quantity stuff also boosted the other half am I actually underestimating the profit from each scarab.

It's kinda crazy how accurate the auction house post was. When I was first introduced to the game by my friends 2 years ago, I remember being extremely overwhelmed by the idea of trading items with other players. It honestly left a bad taste in my mouth how much currency I wasn't making because I wasn't savvy with trading.
Since then, I barely ever touched the game again, and whenever I did play, I wouldn't progress very far.
This league, I finally caved in to my friends again, and it has been a blast. The auction house has put so much power in my hands that I didn't realize I had, and I have progressed the furthest I have ever gotten.

    • @seanjohnston565
      @seanjohnston565 Před měsícem

If you have 5 div after an hour, invest a few into scarabs. Then you will, on average, make about 2 to 4 div per map minimum for a net positive. You don't even have to go alters. T16 guardian maps are fine if you buy one in bulk and then reroll them for full sets. sell the fragments, farm maven writs, get 2 to 4 div from a single harvest on average.

    • @seanjohnston565

Additionally, you could chuck all your influenced bases in a dump tab to sell. However, in my opinion, this and actually doing shaper and elder from this strat is highly inefficient compared to doing the harvest, killing the boss, and leaving.

Redditors are a crowd of hyper-casual bandwagoners for the most part, I experienced this personally when they circlejerked a hate thread about me accusing me of RMTing a 5 link.
What I find so odd is that a lot of these criticisms were actually valid on the first few days of the league when scarabs were so scarce that they were being priced at T17 levels, yet here we are all this time later, scarabs are obviously not being priced that way anymore. Day 2 & 3 they were 10-15 legion scarabs per Div, currently they are 75 per Div.
These people don't actually play the game, they are the same crowd of people that never liquidate currency and then say "How did you buy a mageblood? I only got 6 divines ALL league!!!!!"
I'm glad you're taking the time to make these videos, so much valid criticism of 3.24/3.25 systems is being drowned out by ridiculous exaggerations, hyperbole or flat out lies and I imagine it's pretty difficult for GGG to take any criticism seriously when you have people legitimately claiming 75 legion scarabs per Div is T17 rates, and don't even start me on the weird Sanctum circlejerk, for 99% of builds its lower per hour than T16 maps but all you gotta do is flash a stack of 35 divines you accrued from a week of sanctum farming and suddenly you're the top comment on a hate thread.

I dont quite understand what the issue of "pricing scarabs" is. The prices are made by "the market", right? So that means supply and demand. Also, of course, anyone "running a scarab" would probably evaluate if it is worth the investment, i.e. do I get more out of my maps than what I have to invest into scarabs? If yes, the scarab is worth running. If no, the scarab is worth selling. Either way you can make profit of scarabs, no matter your skill level, so... there is that I guess 🤷‍♂️

Honestly a huge part of the "no pushback" problem is also the community. I posted a somewhat long very in-depth op-ed on why last league's t17 and b2b needed to be removed as it was toxic and game ruining as a whole. I was downvoted and got barely any comments even with 10k+views on the post. Yet GGG's notes on changing t17 and removing b2b almost perfectly mirrored everything I said in my post. So even when you try to give valid critiques and provide thorough evidence, the community on reddit will downvote you and call you bad at the game so why even bother interacting in a meaningful way if you get punished/made fun of for it. In kalandra league I posted (on week 1) an extremely in-depth analysis proving mathematically that something like 6 of the 9 league mechanics that the lake had did not scale at all with tile depth like it should have. I was literally -20+ downvotes with dozens of comments telling me I was stupid and wrong and it worked fine it was just a skill issue. 2 months later GGG puts out a patch to fix the fact that those 6 league mechanics were not scaling at all with tile depth exactly like I said on week 1. It's just ridiculous trying to be genuine on reddit these days. That's why this ridiculous doomer mentality is so strong over there.

"Scarabs will lose you currency" How in the world can anyone say that? They did two leagues back to back where much of the base game loot got moved to scarabs. One was to "balance"}}} around the scarabs and this league seemed to just nuke the base game loot entirely. Scarabs are where almost all of the loot / currency is. I don't know how someone could even claim that. That's actually a big complaint I have with the game right now is how the game seems to be going more and more towards scarabs. There is no loot _IF_ you willingly choose not to use scarabs. That is legitimately annoying.
To say there is no loot is objectively wrong. It's just there is no loot if you are actively avoiding systems to interact with in an alch and go style. Even then it's not like a barren wasteland as long as you've progressed your atlas and watchstones like you should be doing anyways. You can always farm maps. You can always farm altars. All of the boss nodes at the top of the tree have always worked since they've been there. I've been doing expedition since the start and did the same last league and the league before. It's pretty underwhelming without scarabs but the moment you put scarabs on - it just shoots to the moon how much you make from it. You have to actively go out of your way to not make currency in this game and it has always been that way since the whole Conqueror system was put in the game and especially the Atlas tree.
I just wish the game wasn't like 60-80% scarabs now. I want the base game loot to be good and then scarabs to boost that up like how it used to be. The loot is not all in T17's and Sanctum - they are in scarabs. You use scarabs with at least some strategy - you're havin a good time.
Something I feel would massively improve the game is having an actual way to target farm scarabs on the atlas tree. I would like a 100% more node for all of the mechanics while also still being able to block.

after the rotation i kill shaper (guaranteed some chaos in uber elder frag), and restart again, when i run out of guardian maps, i just choose a random T14/15/16 (prefer one with a big money easy card like fortunate or some big big money card with a rare drop if i'm confident) just put the map with blue altar because i'm confident in that altar will be divine altar (not got a single one in league) with map device strongbox, run map, got blue stones to spend all in my gear because i dont buy these because we drop this easily and no big card drop or random divines, maybe i drop some guardian map and all of these with scarab drop disabled because i use essence, strongbox, jun, guardian maps and ritual nodes so i need the 20 points from Uwavering Vision.
back to HO spend my 13 alterations in a 8 passives cluster until got something to sell and really got it (feed the fury, fuel the fight, martial prowess) easy 3 div, pick another one because now i'm confident again and spend all my juice rerolling in harvest until something come (nothing come).
AFTER ALL that i restart the process for a week, when saturday come i have 25/40 div in stash, leveling another character in the end of week and repeat for another week the same process until i got 4 or 5 characters and the league die for me
