Ye all these new trend banjo players should really study this,,, as to how it’s so beautifully played,,, nice little touches , not over the top with these ridiculous scales,,, always on the tune cathal ,,, defo no banjo player to touch his craft and ability on banjo,,, nor I don’t think ever will,,, i could listen to this guy forever,,, 👍👏👏👏👏🇮🇪☘️
The names of the 2 reels given in the title are both wrong. Cathal almost certainly got the first from the playing of Co. Galway whistle player Mary Bergin. He recorded this tune on his first solo LP, "Handed Down", and called it "Mary Bergin's" on the album sleeve. Mary recorded that tune on her solo LP "Feadoga Stain", but had no name for it. She did also record the reel "Up To Your Knees In Sand", but on a different track [ Track #8, last reel ]. It's very likely that someone has got the titles confused somewhere along the line. "Leah Holst" - see below - is correct in that the 2nd reel played is "Sweeney's Buttermilk", and not "Crowley's#2". Great banjo playing.
Cathal Hayden the greatest tenor banjo player on the planet,,, and I believe he always will be,,,, cause it can’t get any better 👏👏👏👏
Really special, even at a young age his style was original and so easy listen to.

Great banjo playing.
do you know where and when Cathal plays, I've been to Ireland, and going back this year, would love to see him play.
Sure getting names wrong is part of the tradition!
@@johnmc3862 So is correcting them.
@@douglashadden2172 Meh, not really. Sweeneys Buttermilk was composed by Brendan McGlinchey.
Yee haw 😀
Hup!
the second one sounds like Sweeney's Buttermilk
I'm pretty sure it's McNeil's welcome to Lisdoonvarna.
