We bought a katchy a weeks ago, and the catching of fruit flies was minimal for days... until we started setting a fresh banana slice on top of the fan every day. Within one evening the amount of flies caught quadrupled!
I’ve tried the bowls of wine/honey/soap/vinegar and never had success. This is a great 1-2 punch, very happy with it.

This is so awesome. Im glad to hear it is working so well for you. I was shocked. And I tried the wine and the vinegar tricks too. I will have to add some fruit to the top and see if it increases. Fruit Flies are all over now with the garden being picked and coming inside. Thanks for sharing your experience. :)

Thank you for this! I have tried cleaning all drains, removing all trash cans - we take out garbage daily and keep bag clipped closed between adding, no dirty dishes on counters - running dishwasher more often. Still they keep coming - not a lot but they keep coming. I have a lot of house plants so I bought pebble-stones and covered the surface of all 10 to block breeding sites. I covered the 4 plants I have in water not yet planted with plastic wrap to block breeding. I tried vinegar-soap-sugar in trays and they would dance around the edges and seemingly as a last resort go in and die when i was not looking. So 3 to 6 dead daily in vinegar trays, but they're still flying around. I see 3 to 6 per day as they come and bump my face like they're pets or something. I am buying this thing today and adding a small piece of banana peel and hopefully I will have a peaceful Christmas!

Thank you Angie! I take in guinea pigs people dont want anymore and their pen attracts fruit flies. Tired of dealing with little cups of wine which is only partially effective.

Thank you. I didn't realize how much I needed this in my life. I may be getting a second one for the basement level of the house. It's almost time to bring in the outside deck plants and they can't live up stairs next to the hydro systems so I may need to slow any outdoor bugs traveling in with another Katchy. Thanks for the feedback on the review :)

I had been using Apple Cider Vinegar with a little dish soap. That recipe is all over the internet and here on CZcams as well. I read on google that fruit flies live about a week from egg till death. I also read that in this short lifespan they lay about 500 eggs. Now I know why catching 4 or 5 a day with my vinegar trap failed. Their reproductive rate far exceeds my vinegar trap-catching ability. Well, I bought a Katchy. It arrived today afternoon. I noticed people were positioning their Katchy and placing bananas (any fruit should work) next to it to lure the flies near the Katchy. I didn't have any fruit, so I got an idea. I know they are attracted by the vinegar solution. I got a small bowl and made another vinegar trap to place next to Katchy. I left it in the kitchen with all lights off. After about 3 hours, I had to take a look. First I noticed the vinegar trap had caught about 2. Then I opened the Katchy and it had caught many of them (I didn't actually count them LOL). If I had to guess I would say 30+. I have high hopes for this product.

Thank you so much for your feed back/product story. I have also now purchased the Katchy Duo (I have a video for that as well) and it has a scent pod on the top of it much like you did, they have now incorporated it into the new version. Both work great. I used to do a wine glass and cover it and poke holes. I would get some. But nothing like this little fan trap. It's quite amazing. I love reviewing products that actually work! :)

Its just a UV light so I am not sure the usage for this but I would say less then a normal light bulb. And you run it at night so much like a night light. I have had mine since the post of this video and it's still working. Although like I stated in the video, it's not whisper quiet. It does have a small buzzing sound. But again, we run it when we go to bed and turn it off in the morning. They have come out with a NEW bigger unit and I am half tempted to test that one too! :) Thanks for the question.
