One of the reason why she doesn't sing this song anymore is probably because this song wasn't a commercially success despite being a Eurovision winning song, it's one of the very few Celine Dion song that was a flop so I think she just wanted to forget about it anyway. Why is it whenever people look back on Eurovision greatest songs, they always miss out Celine? People mention Abba a lot but Celine is just as big of an act as them!
Partly because it is easy for people who aren't fans for people to either forget or not know that Celine sang in Eurovision because she is Canadian (only the composers of this song were from Switzerland). Also this song was not that much of a commercial seller compared to the songs she released in the 90's. Sadly her French songs dont get the deserved attention outside of French-speaking territories.
Eurovision had many big acts , Celine Dion was just one among several ... ABBA is mention a lot because they became the greatest band of all time , among other reasons.

There's still much good singing! Just not always winning. Btw, the best vocals I can recall from the last 10 years was 2009 for Iceland by Johanna. Her singing was pure perfection. And the backing vocals were perfect too. By far the best live. All that could be said to be missing for giving ultra-shivers was a really miraculously coloured voice such as Dion's. like me ! haha
Same
Me too...love the movie version much better. And that outfit.. whew...glad the 80's are gone!
Hard to believe that the next person to win for switzerland hadnt been born yet😮
a star was born..
One of the best performances ever in Eurovision!
Fun fact: this was the last time a French-speaking country won the Eurovision. Francophonie has been on a Eurovision drought for 33 years now.
almost won this year lol
@@akisok0311 i mean its celine duhhhh, even with country with one of the worst luck (eurovision politics) she managed to win (even if just by 1 points), which shows she was just too talented to be able to transcends the judges and countries biases
J'adore !
I, a person from Europe, never knew that Celine Dion had been in Eurovision. And won! Damn, legend.
Celine still uses the same performance moves. :D Which is not bad at all! Don't get me wrong. It just is kind of a signature´of hers.
hi you from 2years ag HAHAHA
@@johanandersson6328 hi you from 2 years AG lol
And facial expressions :)
@@marcioborgesreis9066 I agree. And Celine became one of the biggest selling female artists of all time (I've seen anywhere from #1-3) - but I think most people out here in America have no clue what Eurovision even is - let alone that Celine ever participated and WON the event.
Maybe because a lot of people don't realise that Celine once sang at Eurovision. Or they just want to forget that awful Titanic song 🤣
What a vocal, but that outfit! Who said to her, these will go well together?
She has one of the greatest voices ever. I love her to bits. Her outfit was super fashionable in 1988, everyone wanted to look like her, I remember distinctly!!
She is the greatest singer alive.
yes, great voice! but............THIS outfit was fashionable? THIS thing? WHO is her costumer? dude should be eliminated. sorry, the outfit is ridiculous.
They should have invited Celine this year instead of Madonna who couldn't even sing her own song properly.
yes media is so annoying since then
But Madonna outsold Céline...
@@nabikeita396 celine have better quality of being human
@@nabikeita396 Celine outsold Madonna at one point😉
@@Morganstewartofficial I totally agree that Celine is a much better singer than Madonna, but Madonna is still the best selling female artist of all time and has a higher net worth.
And that's when a LEGEND was born. No wonder she bring home the title. #CélineDion #TeamCéline
This dress is a fashion mullet: Business on top, party on the bottom.
Goosebumps! Serious freakin' goosebumps! What an incredible performance!
I may not like all of Celine Dion's songs (probably about 50-60% or so), but this one is a masterpiece and the woman is one of the most astonishing vocalists ever!
i wasn't born in 1988 ehhh but at first when I heard this song I couldn't believe it was a winner's hit but now I realise that people were actually voting for her voice and charizma :) and the song is not that bad anyway but it was just Celine and her not-attractive dress... that's the meaning of Eurovision- we have to vote for music, for passion, not for the special effects or the circus on the stage :) she's 20 years old in this video, and now she's 46 what a great career she's got to :) Bravo Celine! You're the best and I adore you very much
hahah so you can't say "I adore you" simply to a celebrity or any other married person? What's marriage got to do with this? :D
Damn you posted this 4 years ago! So Céline is now 50 years old!
And like she told later, it is that same night after winning this contest that Rene Angelil and her...huh.....You see what I mean! LOL!
You should vote for vocal skill and delivery. In other words, talent. Everything else is material.
Last song in french that won Eurovision song contest
And this year the next one, so special and unique time!
Yep ! And what a song !
And what a voice ! 😊

No, will never happen again...

Great song and performance - which beat the UK by just 1 point, it was all decided on the very last score announced - such fun and drama!
Oui! Moi aussi! Elle est incroyable!
C'était autre chose !
Une vraie chanson
Who is here after Conchita in the Eurovision movie’s Song Along?😍😍💃🏼🌟🥳
Moi
OHH BOYYY OH BOYYY WHAT A LOVELY PERFORMANCE!
Always brings a tear to my eyes because it's such a stunning performance, vocal, song and clearly delivered with passion. Go Celine!
Everybody focus on her custom when her singing was just out of this planet¡!!!
Et pour moi aussi!!
I’m a really big fan of Celine Dion; and I must admit, I never even knew she had participated in Eurovision, let alone won it.
My favourite Eurovision performance of all time.
It took up until Conchita Wurst won in 2014 for there to be another winner who sang on stage, all alone, with no one else, no backing singers, no backing dancers. It's no mean feat. I listen to this performance on a regular basis - stunning
Mein absolutes Lieblingslied.
Magnifique. Bravo Céline!
It isn't my kind of thing and my French is too rusty to understand more than a few words, but I do know real class when I hear it.....she's the sort of rare singer that could sing about tarmac in Klingon and you'd still think it was wonderful......:-)
The styling was more boring back then, but the singing was a lot better!
The hair???
The boring styling is more like 50's my friend. 80's is more big hair and like...big everything xD
flamestar395
Yes, but I mean, look at the stage and the background. Much simpler, a lot less moving flashy stuff onscreen.
But...anyway...come on ...she's fucking CELINE DION! You can't expect THAT to happen twice.
I agree with the fact that the singing was muvh better in this time, but in my opinion the styling was horrible
goose pumps... her voice is so incredible and back then someone who did not FEEL this song must have been dead inside (no judgement, just sayin') 😅
This is what a ESC winner should sound like!
No matter what she wear, even she had worn a badsheet, she would have won Eurovision...
I remenber when Celine Dion did this for us (Switzerland) Gosh I became old. Thank you Mrs. Dion.
You new poets, you magic birds, you, you might find new music,
you, give my chance, i want to sing too,
Don't leave without me, let me follow you, you who flew to other cities, you who flew to the year 2000
Don't leave without me
Summary of the song and it was such an inspiring text for Celine, it was exactly what she felt, the text perfectly reflected her psychological and emotional state.
The dream of a young singer who humbly opens her heart and soul to showbusiness people (vous ), she asks them not to leave without her and
she asks them, the chance to sing all his life (le bleu de l’infini, la joie d’être libre)
Totally iconic
Quelle voix!
Absolument!
One of the best Swiss ESC entries for all time
Best eurovision performance EVER.
She did not nail this, she hammered it into the ground, sealed it, drilled it and iconed it.
Timeless hit....❤
A star is born🌠❤️
this victory of hers made her a world-famous superstar
Pretty sure this is a perfect combination of accoustics and her singing talent. She hits solid notes it's just perfect.
Personally, I LOVE her costume. It's unique and bizzare. Just like Céline!
I don't like it...but tbh it's very Celine :D
By far the best winner
