Thanks alot this really helped! Hopefully it looks good when my map is done its a sniper gane in the snow so i just need 2 make it a bit foggier and add some buildings and hopefully will turn out great in first person *edit, jeez i said the same thing twice but backwards in a way*
TIP: if it seems like a certain input trigger device isn't working, then make sure that your CREATIVE INPUT ACTIONS in your 'controller mapping' in 'settings' are binded the same way as the 'general' controller mapping are. (This is just a tip because, I don't know if this will work for you but it worked for me.)
Just got through this tutorial, very cool it's all working but wanted to ask about these 2 settings, at 1min 48 it shows Clamp Vertical Rotation Min -60 (you said the same so guessing I should use -70 as Sprinting & Crouch you have set as -70 unless that should remain -60) Transition Out Time for sprinting you have at 0.1 the others I believe are 0 (so am I best setting the sprinting one to zero?) Thanks a lot for putting that tutorial together there are others out there that don't cover everything so excellent slide and crouch are working, I need to test but I think ziplines we switch to 3rd person - unsure on vehicles many say it can't be done driving in 1st person at this point. That was the first time I have used a switch - I have this info for deathrun maps to skip to the next checkpoint if an area is difficult but not 100% on doing it yet - if you get bored you could always do a tut and explain how this works :) "The level skip is a switch device turned on for every checkpoint they hit. When the player respawns it looks to see which switch is turned on and then teleports them to there or spawns them on the relevant checkpoint pad (which is also turned on same time as the switch) when they reach a new checkpoint, the previous one is turned off"
Thank you for the comment. All of the settings you mentioned are actually up to you, those ones are just my recommendations. I put sprint camera to have a slight transition time to help not showing your player’s skin for a split second while switching cameras. The Vertical clamps are so you can’t look into your own skin as well, but you can change those to whatever you see fit. There’s a couple other things you can do to fix other issues, I just wanted to keep it short. If you die while ADS you respawn in 3rd person. To fix this make it so when people respawn it adds the Camera Standing camera to them. Same thing with exiting vehicles, make it send a signal to Add the Camera Standing device to them. I appreciate your thought out and wholesome comment!
I needed an adjustment on camera settings, wondering maybe if yours might work for me or if I'm still gonna have to figure out what tweaks I need to do to get my outlook, as currently my settings have the character's head be visible internally when they lean forward into the camera. I have one question though, while switching to the different cameras, I.E. crouching/sprinting, does the sensitivity/position lock for you? If you don't have that, I wonder what could directly be the cause, as maybe I can just implement my countermeasures while keeping my, albeit modified still, camera settings. I thank you for this video, despite me not needing the tutorial, fully at least, as it still is helpful a little. Funnily enough also, is I'm using it for an FPS game remake map aswell, albeit it's from XIII.
I was looking for a tutorial just like this! Everyone else just tells you how to make the first person camera but not how to fix all the other problems. This was amazing! Had to make a few adjustments to make the camera fit my style map but it was perfect.

That seems to be a common mistake people are making. If I had known it would get confused so much I would have made it extra clear. But then again I made it extra clear about aiming in being enabled/disabled and people still are not understanding sometimes. It’s a complicated system to be fair, thanks for your comment!
Just followed this pretty easy to get working but was curious about reload cameras and certain DMR scoped/ACOG scoped weapons where it's a scope and it does ADS, but it doesn't fully zoom in, so now the issue is when doing ADS with say the Cobra DMR, the scope itself only is ADS at certain degrees but then moves away from center view when you spin 360 degrees
Great video but there was a couple things I went back and changed I turned off the sprint effects cause I didn’t like the way they looked but that was just personal the big thing was I turned off clamp horizontal speed because it wasn’t letting me move my camera rights after that it worked perfect thanks

@@blank0916 Good question, as you may have noticed the device is not perfect. Consider adjusting the transition time settings for the Camera devices and make sure the camera speed is set as high as it can go. Other than that, the system can get bugged out, but sprinting/jumping should reset the system at any time.
Great tutorial but when switching between crouching and standing I cannot move my mouse properly, I need to wait a bit before I can move it correctly. I have no horizontal clamps.
4:21 kinda got hard because when I clicked on Add to player I would put in the Switch crouch, It had two options: One in pressed and on, and On imput released. This is a very good tutorial and the best one I could find but the part was the only thing that confused me.😅
The model I went over in the video should work if hooked up correctly. The aiming in part check out 3:30 that should answer that. The crouch problem, investigate the switch device to make sure it’s enabled and hooked up correctly, and make sure the input trigger for crouch is actually set to crouch.
Hey man nice video! everything seems to be working flawlessly except one thing. When I aim with my sniper (or any weapon with a built in scope) I want to be able to see the scope, I double checked the ads settings and all of the bunch, yet for some reason it doesn't use the in game scope when I aim in. would you be able to help pls?
3:30 in the video. Make this device setting "enabled at game" start set to {on}. Then when you ADS you can use scoped weapons. However, any weapon that ADS will take you out of first person.
Good question, sliding can break it, keeping you in the crouched camera while you’re standing. But, in this system the Sprint feature will correct the system and fix it. I have seen some other guys implement more components to allow sliding to keep you in crouch camera but it makes it much more complicated.
do you know how to make it so if you have a scope on your weapon it will get out of first person? (without the other weapons with no scopes doing it to)
good question, no i don't. It may be possible to do that by signalling a conditional button to check for certain weapons. But that would be difficult to do on a large scale. The way this system is set up its either all or none. consider tho, you could only use weapons with scopes in the game if you want it to play COD style. More weapons get added almost every update with scopes built in, especially the mythic variants.
When turning the ads device to not enable from the start all scoped weapons can't use their scope anymore. Is there anyway around this? I want to use scoped weapons but not have my game go third person when using non scoped weapons.
That’s the problem. It’s either allow scoping in or not. The game doesn’t care whether or not your weapon has a scope. One solution is to enable ADS and only include scoping weapons on the map.
this works almost perfect, the only problem is that when you slide the camera switches to crouching and doesnt go back to standing when you're done sliding. kinda sucks cuz the map im making is based around fast movement but ig ill have to disable sliding
Yes that is an issue im aware of. The input trigger does not differentiate between crouching and sliding. If your map is based around fast movement tho, consider that Sprinting will reset this system. So if players are sprinting a lot, this might not be a big issue. Most people sprint after sliding anyway.
So I done everything on the Video settings everything but when I start the game my aim don’t work and my crouch so I’m abit lost on what is not connected that’s not even it when I switch weapons my character zooms out then back in and the aim of my gun goes to my crouch settings I need help please 😂
There's a lot of devices that are connected, its easy for some functions/events to get switched around. Id have to take a look in game. Add me on Fortnite "Cult of Sly" and hmu, ill check it out and we can figure out what's going on

The only way I know how to do that well is in UEFN. But you can do it in creative 1.0 to a small degree. Find the Helicopter Landing pad prop (Rig gallery) and resize it to the max. Place them back to back to each other and you can create a tunnel that is in 1st person for vehicles. Best I can do for ya
There are a lot of issues like the model enter in the camera, sometimes some actions are in 3rd person or inputs / sensitivity bugs. I pray for a big update of this.
I checked all of the settings and they are all correct however, when I spawn I'm not in first person. I've done everything can to try and fix it. What do I do?
Make sure the camera Standing setting "add to player at game start" or whatever its called is enabled. Other than that, a work around that would probably work is cover the entire map in a mutator zone (Make sure its settings are correct like allow gunfire and stuff like that) Hook up the Mutator zone function/event "On player entering zone" to the Camera Standing device. This way everytime they spawn it will attach the camera standing to them and reset their system.
same here but it stopped significantly after i removed a binding that was always set to auto run not fully fixed though, must move left/right to cancel that locked camera if anyone knows the fix pls let us know ty

Hello I tried the exact setting and when I run I see the eyeballs of the character and when I swing the pickaxe also the cam doesn’t move whenever I crouch
Good question, my Rust Sniper shootout does this. You must enable keep inventory on elimination. You can find this setting in world settings, team inventory, and class designer devices. The setting you are looking for is: “Eliminated players items” set to [keep]
It's sort of a bug. When you die, the last "camera" applied stay attached. If no camera is applied then, when you respawn, you don't get any. So you have to reattach the camera on spawn to be sure. Hope it helps ✌🏿
What I did to fix this is put a Mutator zone around the map, attach the Camera Standing device to it using the [on player entering] function and the {add to player} event. This is also how you put players back into 1st person when they leave a vehicle. Have the vehicle sent a signal when the player exits to add the Camera Standing device back
I don’t have a switch so I’m not sure, look for similar sounding settings. Luckily There are a few settings that are not neccesary like the transition times, vertical clamps, etc. those settings just make it better, but are not 100% neccesary
i got a problem where only default keys for crouch and sprint activate the camera like ctrl for crouch and lshift for sprint interesting anyone got a fix
I think they added a section at the top of the Input Trigger devices. You can switch the control type to custom or standard. Try switching it to the opposite of what you had and make sure the correct input is selected.
It’s the same device I guess I switched up the terminology in the video by mistake. In the video I renamed the switch device to “switch crouch” There is only one switch you use in this tutorial, I called it switch crouch but regardless it is the same switch. Sorry for the confusion
Yes absolutely. Simplest way to do that would be to make the devices enable via a button. (The same button obviously). You could also enable them by team or class by having a bottom enable a mutator zone that triggers the devices for that specific team or class.
When I ADS, the camera switches to the crouching mode, so the camera is lower down the I should be, beneath my gun? I don't understand why this is happening, if someone could help I'd appreciate it.

I don’t know exactly what you mean, but I know the system isn’t perfect. Sometimes it can break under certain conditions, the sprint function should fix it tho

Make sure the switch is enabled. Consider using either a mutator zone to add the standing camera to players on entering zone, or add the camera standing to the player every time they spawn.
that sounds like something to do with the post process device. Look into that. That device is completely optional with this system so if you cant figure it out try getting rid of that device entirely.
There won’t be anything there until you modify them. In the video I am looking at modified settings so you know only the settings that you need to change. You change them in “all settings”
@@chris75hun what’s up? is it when you are eliminated when ADS it removes your camera? If so make the spawn points add the camera standing device on player spawn.
In the video you see the Input Trigger Device towarda the back. That one in the video is called “Input Trigger ADS” switch the setting “enabled on game start” to “off” Watch from 9:30 in the video and it explains that part. Check the “Input Trigger” device that you did the ADS settings with (in this video the device is called Input trigger ADS) and make sure it’s set to disabled. Will make every weapon 1st person.

@@CrossSwordsguy that’s a good question! Unfortunately the answer is…. You can’t to my knowledge. It’s either No ADS or yes ADS. If you do want ADS, make sure to only include weapons with scopes/sights. Recent season mythics have scopes, MK Seven rifles and Striker burst, etc…. On my Lockout map I updated it to first person, almost all the weapons are replaced with scooped/sighted weapons. But I still have 1 or 2 weapons that take you out of third person. The device in the video called “input trigger ADS” controls whether ADS is allowed or not. If enabled, it will be. If that device is disabled no ADS is allowed.

Make sure you didn’t put horizontal clamps in by mistake. They need to be vertical clamps

Make sure you aren’t using any horizontal clamps. Vertical clamps are okay, but not horizontal clamps

3:30 in the video. Make this device setting "enabled at game" start set to {on}. Then when you ADS you can use scoped weapons. However, any weapon that ADS will take you out of first person.

Good question, sliding can break it, keeping you in the crouched camera while you’re standing. But, in this system the Sprint feature will correct the system and fix it. I have seen some other guys implement more components to allow sliding to keep you in crouch camera but it makes it much more complicated.
If ur head is getting stuck. I tried setting the cams at -180 min and 180 max to fix it

do you know how to make it so if you have a scope on your weapon it will get out of first person? (without the other weapons with no scopes doing it to)
good question, no i don't. It may be possible to do that by signalling a conditional button to check for certain weapons. But that would be difficult to do on a large scale. The way this system is set up its either all or none.
consider tho, you could only use weapons with scopes in the game if you want it to play COD style. More weapons get added almost every update with scopes built in, especially the mythic variants.
When turning the ads device to not enable from the start all scoped weapons can't use their scope anymore. Is there anyway around this? I want to use scoped weapons but not have my game go third person when using non scoped weapons.
That’s the problem. It’s either allow scoping in or not. The game doesn’t care whether or not your weapon has a scope. One solution is to enable ADS and only include scoping weapons on the map.
I need help every time i sprint my crouch camera activates and everytime i aim it goes back to 3rd person
this works almost perfect, the only problem is that when you slide the camera switches to crouching and doesnt go back to standing when you're done sliding. kinda sucks cuz the map im making is based around fast movement but ig ill have to disable sliding
Yes that is an issue im aware of. The input trigger does not differentiate between crouching and sliding.
If your map is based around fast movement tho, consider that Sprinting will reset this system. So if players are sprinting a lot, this might not be a big issue. Most people sprint after sliding anyway.

So I done everything on the Video settings everything but when I start the game my aim don’t work and my crouch so I’m abit lost on what is not connected that’s not even it when I switch weapons my character zooms out then back in and the aim of my gun goes to my crouch settings I need help please 😂
There's a lot of devices that are connected, its easy for some functions/events to get switched around. Id have to take a look in game. Add me on Fortnite "Cult of Sly" and hmu, ill check it out and we can figure out what's going on

The only way I know how to do that well is in UEFN. But you can do it in creative 1.0 to a small degree. Find the Helicopter Landing pad prop (Rig gallery) and resize it to the max. Place them back to back to each other and you can create a tunnel that is in 1st person for vehicles. Best I can do for ya
There are a lot of issues like the model enter in the camera, sometimes some actions are in 3rd person or inputs / sensitivity bugs. I pray for a big update of this.
Indeed it is far from perfect, I imagine this tutorial will become obsolete if we get proper First Person in UEFN

I checked all of the settings and they are all correct however, when I spawn I'm not in first person. I've done everything can to try and fix it. What do I do?
Make sure the camera Standing setting "add to player at game start" or whatever its called is enabled. Other than that, a work around that would probably work is cover the entire map in a mutator zone (Make sure its settings are correct like allow gunfire and stuff like that)
Hook up the Mutator zone function/event "On player entering zone" to the Camera Standing device. This way everytime they spawn it will attach the camera standing to them and reset their system.

When switching between cameras ur camera is locked for a few seconds so i cant move the camera properly
same here but it stopped significantly after i removed a binding that was always set to auto run
not fully fixed though, must move left/right to cancel that locked camera

Good question, my Rust Sniper shootout does this. You must enable keep inventory on elimination. You can find this setting in world settings, team inventory, and class designer devices. The setting you are looking for is: “Eliminated players items” set to [keep]

It's sort of a bug. When you die, the last "camera" applied stay attached. If no camera is applied then, when you respawn, you don't get any. So you have to reattach the camera on spawn to be sure. Hope it helps ✌🏿
What I did to fix this is put a Mutator zone around the map, attach the Camera Standing device to it using the [on player entering] function and the {add to player} event.
This is also how you put players back into 1st person when they leave a vehicle. Have the vehicle sent a signal when the player exits to add the Camera Standing device back

I don’t have a switch so I’m not sure, look for similar sounding settings. Luckily There are a few settings that are not neccesary like the transition times, vertical clamps, etc. those settings just make it better, but are not 100% neccesary

I think they added a section at the top of the Input Trigger devices. You can switch the control type to custom or standard. Try switching it to the opposite of what you had and make sure the correct input is selected.

In the video I renamed the switch device to “switch crouch”
There is only one switch you use in this tutorial, I called it switch crouch but regardless it is the same switch.

Yes absolutely. Simplest way to do that would be to make the devices enable via a button. (The same button obviously).
You could also enable them by team or class by having a bottom enable a mutator zone that triggers the devices for that specific team or class.

Good question, no they don’t per se. You can hook them up in any order you want as long as they’re hooked up correctly.

EDIT I changed input trigger ADS from on input released to pressed, I think that was a wrong setting on my part. Brilliant tutorial!

no you apply it to everybody. You could possibly hook the system up to an attribute evaluator if you wanted it to work for specific classes.

I don’t know exactly what you mean, but I know the system isn’t perfect. Sometimes it can break under certain conditions, the sprint function should fix it tho

Make sure the switch is enabled. Consider using either a mutator zone to add the standing camera to players on entering zone, or add the camera standing to the player every time they spawn.

that sounds like something to do with the post process device. Look into that. That device is completely optional with this system so if you cant figure it out try getting rid of that device entirely.

There won’t be anything there until you modify them. In the video I am looking at modified settings so you know only the settings that you need to change. You change them in “all settings”

@@CultofSly nuh uh if you crouch/slide and start sprinting the crouch camera is stuck even though on sprint its supposed to remove the crouch camera

In the video you see the Input Trigger Device towarda the back. That one in the video is called “Input Trigger ADS” switch the setting “enabled on game start” to “off”
Watch from 9:30 in the video and it explains that part. Check the “Input Trigger” device that you did the ADS settings with (in this video the device is called Input trigger ADS) and make sure it’s set to disabled. Will make every weapon 1st person.

It’s either No ADS or yes ADS. If you do want ADS, make sure to only include weapons with scopes/sights. Recent season mythics have scopes, MK Seven rifles and Striker burst, etc….
On my Lockout map I updated it to first person, almost all the weapons are replaced with scooped/sighted weapons. But I still have 1 or 2 weapons that take you out of third person.
The device in the video called “input trigger ADS” controls whether ADS is allowed or not. If enabled, it will be. If that device is disabled no ADS is allowed.
