Fonzie makes a good point. Most kids only care about passing the class / getting a good grade ... and not learning / developing a deeper understanding. Rote memorization being the devils tool to pass but learn nothing.

What always irked me of this show is that everything had to be cool, in order for Fonzie to do.Like, no one today pays much attention to anyone wearing glasses, but because Fonzie had to wear them in one episode he made a big issue about it being cool to wear them, and made a brave front of putting them on.Good grief.Alot of things in life people have to go through and it's never an issue of being cool or not.In my opinion, that doesn't even matter.

I think what they were doing is using the character's popularity to influence the kids in the audience. If Fonzie thinks wearing glasses is cool, then it's cool for me at 12 years old to wear glasses. If Fonzie thinks eating his veggies is cool, then its cool for kids to eat theirs. If Fonzie thinks staying in school is cool, then its cool for teenagers to stay in school and not drop out.

In one episode, Fonzie got a library card and the application for library cards in the US went up by 500% that year. Guess they all thought getting a library card was cool and they followed.
